Sorry – English only today. I am not the biggest fan of winter. Truth be told I am already pining for spring. This outfit waited quite a while to happen. But something always came inbetween. The light blue and deep green makes me think of spring.
Theme of this months is „Going Green“. I’ll wait for spring in shades of green. This classic wiggle dress reminds me of the dresses Joan Holloway, the sexy office manager in Mad Men wears. It’s a nice deep green. I wore this outfit to this months council meeting. But it would be ok for a design team or planning meeting for work, too. And no, I am not wearing the beret inside.
This dress needs to get a bit more mileage. Last time on the blog I wore it with my brown shirt – more lady of the manor style.

Another merry Christmas outfit. For the office party. I will actually wear this today. Possibly with a different fascinator though. I have admired those frothy ChiChi London tulle and lace dresses and skirts since I first saw one on Curvy Claudia’s blog. Ein weiteres festlich fröhliches Weihnachtsoutfit. Für die Weihnachtsfeier im Büro. so werde ich das heute tragen. Vielleicht mit einem anderen Fascinator. Ich habe die Tüllröcke und -kleider von ChiChi London sehr bewundert seit Curvy Claudia diesen Look auf ihrem Blog gezeigt hat.
A few months ago I gave this black beauty a try that awed mo on Big or not to Big. Well, it didn’t swipe me off my feet in front of the mirror. I didn’t like the glittery lace. So off it went again. Vor einigen Monaten habe ich diesen Traum in schwarz an mir getestet – nach dem es mir auf auf dem Blog von Big or not to Big die Sprache verschlagen hat. Nun, an mir fand ich es weniger zauberhaft. Die glitzernde Spitze war überraschenderweise auch gar nicht meins. Also ging es wieder zurück.
And then I saw this on ModCloth. No glitter. Tone in tone. That darkish teal so indecisive between green and blue. Un dann sah ich das hier auf ModCloth. Ton in Tone. In diesem dunklen Petrol, dass so unentschlossen zwischen grün und blau ist.If I can I avoid ordering from the states. Such a hustle: import taxes, sometimes even custom charges, having to go to customs and obviously the shipping isn’t cheap either. And ChiChi London is (like the name suggests) from the UK. And they are still in the EU. Wenn ich es vermeiden kann bestelle ich nichts aus den Staaten. Zu aufwendig: Einfuhrsteuern, mitunter Zollgebühren, zum Zollamt zu müssen und natürlich ist der Versand auch nicht gerade günstig. ChiChi London kommt (wie es der Name vermuten lässt) aus Grossbritannien. Und noch sind die in der EU. The dress was on sale for Black Friday plus another 10% for signing up the newsletter. Shipping was free too. Like with many dresses from the UK, the waist sits about 2 inches too high. I like to dress it down a little – with the cardi and the tartan blanket scarf. Das Kleid war im Sale für den Black Friday – plus nochmal 10% weil ich den Newsletter abonniert habe. Versand war frei. Wie viele Kleider aus England sitzt mal wieder die Taille ca. 4-5cm zu hoch. Ich trage das Kleid lieber etwas alltagstauglicher – die Strickjacke und dem grossen Tartantuch.

I love this dress – the rest of the year it is a stunning wiggle dress with sleeves. But in December I like to wear it with the white fake fur cuffs. Without the fascinator I have worn it to two December council sessions – in 2014 and 2015. Unfortunately not this year – as I was sick that day. Ich liebe dieses Kleid – den Rest des Jahres ist das hier ein wunderbares Bleistiftkleid mit Ärmeln. Aber i Dezember trage ich es gelegentlich gerne mit den weissen Kunstfellmanschetten. Ohne den Fascinator habe ich das Outfit so in der Art 2014 und 2015 zu den Ratssitzungen im Dezember getragen. Dieses Jahr leider nicht. Da war ich krank.
The fake fur cuffs were made from an old fur scarf that I got at a second hand shop. Die Manschetten aus Kunstfell sind aus einem alten Schal gemacht den ich in einem Second-Hand-Laden gefunden habe.
The Clutch is from ASOS. Unfortunately the iPad very nearly doesn’t fit in. Bugger. But I didn’t sent it back because of that. Die Clutch ist von ASOS – leider passt mal wieder ganz, ganz knapp das iPad nicht hinein. Aber deswegen habe ich sie nicht zurück geschickt.

The little white mink fascinator feels really glam. It always reminds me a bit off powder puffs. Der kleine weisse Nerzfascinator ist sehr glamourös und erinnert mich immer an eine Puderquaste.
The earrings and the sleigh brooch are a good match. So far the only unworn bit is the black bambi. Die Ohrringe und die Schlittenbrosche passen sehr gut zusammen. Bis jetzt ist das einzige, dass ich noch nicht in dieser Weihnachtszeit getragen habe das schwarze Bambi.
The charm bracelet is a long time favourite – I think I got it back in 2004 – together with the Christmas tree earrings. Das Bettelarmband ist schon seit ca. 2004 ein Favorit zur Weihnahtszeit – zusammen mit den Tannenbaum-Ohrringen.

Mein Jahr bei DIY your Closet hat ein würdiges Finale gefunden – den Hutworkshop Shape up your Hat! der inspirierenden Ricarda von Mein wunderbarer Hutsalon aus Wuppertal. Aus einem alten Trachtenhut habe ich unter sachkundiger Anleitung für meine Oktoberfest Craze Reihe einen rasanten Cocktailhut im Stil der 1950ger Jahre gemacht.
Ricarda Engelsberger habe ich im Juni beim Ladies Day – dem Pferderennen mit Hutwettbewerb des traditionsreichen Krefelder Rennclubs kennengelernt. Knapp zwei Monate später hat sie mich zu diesem Workshop eingeladen. Letztes Wochenende fand dann eine eins zu eins Betreuung statt. Das ist kein Sonderfall. In ihrem Atelier ist die Teilnahme von vorneherein auf zwei bis drei Personen begrenzt.
I met Ricarda Engelsberger in June at Ladies Day – the horse racing day with a hat competition of the prestigious Krefeld jockey club. About two month later she invited me to this Workshop. Last week we finally met and it was a one on one supervision. For her not that exeptional as the event is limited to two to three participants anyway.

Für Ricarda Engelsberger ist das Hütemachen kein Hobby. Die Modistin hat ihr Handwerk von der Pike auf gelernt, inklusive Meistertitel. Sie fertigt Modellhüte und Kleinserien seit ca. 1998. Das Atelier ist in Wuppertal am Arrenberg, einem Gründerzeitquartier. Dort bringt Ricarda sich auch mit ihrem Atelier beim Verein Aufbruch am Arrenberg ein. Einige von Euch kennen Ricarda Engelsberger oder zumindest ihre Kreationen aus dem Vintage Flaneur.
For Ricarda Engelsberger hat making isn’t a hobby. It is a craft she learned from the ropes, including the hard earned title of a master milliner from the german Chamber of Crafts. Sheproduces model hats and mini series since 1998. Her workshop is in Wuppertal, a historic district called Arrenberg. Here she is also active in the local community to enhance the quarter. Some of you will know Ricarda Engelsberger or her creations from the German magazineVintage Flaneur.
Wenn man schon in Wuppertal ist… Sehr cool – nach ewigen Zeiten mal wieder Schwebebahn gefahren. Fun Fact: Ricarda und ich haben festgestellt dass wir ca. 3 Jahre in den 1990gern Nachbarn in Ober-Barmen waren. Wir haben Tür an Tür gewohnt. Die Welt ist ein Dorf! If in Wuppertal… quite cool to take thesuspension railwayagain. Fun fact: we realised that Ricarda and I were neighbours for about 3 years back in the 1990s in another part of town. We lived door to door. The world truly is a small place!
Ricardas Atelier ist klein aber fein. Alles drin was man braucht. Gut und übersichtlich sortiert und trotzdem mit einem liebevollen Händchen ausgestattet. Ricarda’s work space is small but neat. Everything to work properly. Well sorted and still with a loving touch to details.
Kleine Demonstration – der Hutweiter aus den 50gern. Die Heizspirale blieb dafür aus. The audio is crap on this one – basically it is a hat stratcher from the 50s. The hot spiral isn’t switched on.
Wir haben erst noch kurz einen Hut, den ich bei Oma Klara gekauft habe aufgearbeitet. Leider wurde der Hut beim Versand gefaltet! Da wird ein Teil ein Leben lang in Ehren gehalten und kommt verbeult an um Porto zu sparen. Traurig. Die Blüten waren auch flacher als jeder Pfannkuchen. Jetzt strahlt er dank Ricarda wieder!
We first spruced up a hat I bought at Oma Klara. Sadly the hat was folded for shipping. Not a way to treat a hat that was kept for good for a lifetime. Ricarda managed to make it shine again and fluffed up the flowers that were flatter as pancakes.

Also als erstes haben wir uns mal meine Vorlage angeschaut und ich habe Ricarda erklärt was damit prinzipiell passieren soll. First we had a look at my old hat and I explained what I’d like to turn it into.
Ausgangsmodell: biederer Trachtenhut. Bei eBay wegen der Federn erworben. Zu klein. Before: traditional German „country“ hat. Bought on eBay because of the feather pad. Too small to fit my head.

Kaum wiederzuerkennen! Auf dem Modell. Die Federn liegen eng an und gehen etwas in die Stirn. Da ich fast immer nur sehr diskreten Ohrschmuck trage wird es keinen Konflikt an den überhängenden Enden der Kordel geben. Hardly recognizable! On the model. Die feather pad is kept close to the base and arch a little into the forehead. I usually wear discreet earrings, so there will be no conflict with the overhanging trimming.
Und jetzt angezogen! Ein Traum. Ricarda und ich waren sehr begeistert. And now worn. Fits like a dream. Ricarda and I were very excited about the result.

Pour ce moins j’ai choisi une jupe. La première tenue est pour un jour régulier dans l’office. Avec une chemise de pin-up et la veste tailleur qui va avec la jupe de pied de coq. Il est trop froid pour porter les collants résille ces jours. Un collant plus ou moins aux couleurs de ma peau et on pense que je sens pas le froid.
This month I decided to go for a skirt. The first outfit is for a regular job in the office. With a pinup blouse and a jacket matching the similar skirt in dogtooth. It is too cold to wear the lace tights by themselves these days. So I am also wearing some opaque tights or less in the same colour as my skin underneath. Last weekend the fourth Plussize Fashion Days brought me to Hamburg. Found a great hotel. Planned my outfits carefully. Like always. And a little extra when you know you’ll meet bloggers, fashionistas and people from the plussize industry. Letztes Wochenende haben mich die vierten Plussize Fashion Days nach Hamburg geführt. Habe ein grossartiges Hotel entdeckt und meine Outfits geplant. Wie immer. The black chiffon pussy bow blouse goes well with the teal peplum dress, my fake mongolian fur handbag, glitter tights and the velvet kitten pointed ballerinas. Die schwarze Chiffon Schluppenbluse passt gut zu dem petrolfarbenen Kleid, meiner schwarzen „Flokati“-Fake Fur Tasche, der Glitzerstrumpfhose und den spitzen Kätzchen-Samtballerinas.
Also nice for business with a white shirt underneath. The pumps are actually just a darker shade than the dress. The colour comes out too blueish. It is a proper teal in real life. Für meinen Job oder die Politik passt auch ein weisses Hemd gut darunter. Die Pumps sind eigentlich nur einige Nuancen dunkler als das Kleid. Dessen Farbe ist auf den Bildern zu blau. Eigentlich ist es mehr petrol (oder dunkeltürkis).
The glitter tights give a bit of an edge to the matte jersey dress and the peplum repeats the lines of the jacket. I had the cape shortened last winter. Die Glitzerstrumpfhose bildet einen schönen Bruch zu dem matten Jerseykleid. Das Schößchen wiederholt die Linienführung des Blazers. Das Cape habe ich letzten Winter kürzen lassen.
One of my favourite scarfs. So versatile. A little bohoo. A little country. Very classic. Eines meiner Lieblingstücher. Sehr vielseitig. Etwas Folklore. Etwas Tracht. Sehr klassisch.

As I said – the hotel Europäischer Hof was ace. Faciing the central station. They made fresh waffles and omlettes for breakfast. The waterslide was as fast as hell. They even had a barefoot lift that took you up again to the slide. Das Hotel Europäischer Hof war grossartig. Genau gegenüber vom Hauptbahnhof. Es gab frische Waffeln und Omlettes zum Frühstück. Die Wasserrutsche war höllisch schnell! Und es gab sogar einen Barfuss-Aufzug der einen wieder nach oben zum Anfang der Rutsche gebracht hat.
Pretty neat idea or naff? Delivery was supposed to be a lot quicker. But the iPad case arrived after I came back. Dumme Idee oder ziemlich clever? Die Lieferung sollte wesentlich schneller gehen. Aber das iPad-Case kam erst an nachdem ich wieder zuhause war.

I guess I never travelled for so few days with so much luggage like this weekend. The destination were the Plussize Fashion Days by Kurvenrausch in Hamburg. 2016 was the fourth time for the event. Ich kann ich nicht daran erinnern für so wenige Tage schon mal soviel Gepäck mitgenommen zu haben. Das Ziel waren die Plussize Fashion Days von Kurvenrausch in Hamburg. 2016 war das vierte Event dieser Art.
A themed party, two days of shopping and a Fashion/ Award show. Lots of plussize bloggers and fashion savvy people present. You want to look your best for that. For the travel days I chose my Beth Ditto dress. The Lola in the lipstick print is quite flamboyant.
Eine Mottoparty, zwei Tage zu, shoppen und eine Modenschau mit Preisverleihung. Viele (Plussize) Blogger und modebewusste Frauen. Da will man glänzen. Für die Reisetage habe ich mich für mein Beth Ditto Kleid entschieden. Das Lola mit dem Lippenstiftdruck sticht immer hervor.

The wonderful Mary from BodyMary brought me these sunglasses from Berlin. So little time for so many people I only meet one or twice a year. Way too short to catch up.
Die wunderbare Mary from BodyMary hat mir die Sonnenbrille aus Berlin mitgebracht. Es war mal wieder viel zu wenig Zeit für so viele Menschen, die ich nur ein bis zwei mal im Jahr treffe. Viel zu kurz um sich wirklich auszutauschen.
Pour le thème j’ai pensé dans l’instant à ma robe rose avec des points noirs. Pink Lady en bomber. J’ai essayé deux bombers d’Asos. Le noir est trop longue, trop grand. Dommage parce qu’un autre vest „casual“ est une bonne idée. For that motto I instantly thought about my pink dress with the black dots. Pink lady in a bomber jacket. I tried to bombers form Asos. The black one I which I hoped would be a good addition to my wardrobe. A much needed casual jacket. However it was too long. Too big. Bugger
Le bomber rose est super-coupée pour moi. J’aime la couleur. Un rose blush. Mais ça va pas avec ma robe rose. Pas du tout. Bien. Change du plan. Gris et rose sont toujours bien ensemble. The pink bomber is actually cut for me. I love the colour. A blush pink. But it didn’t go with the dress I picked. Not at all. Change of plans – grey and pink always go together.

Le tweed de la robe est un bon contraste avec le satin très lumineux. Un peu trop lumineux pour moi. Le bibi est dans la même couleur que la veste. Les gants en pied de coq sont nouveaux aussi et ils me plaisent beaucoup. The tweed fabric of the dress is an excellent contrast to the shiny satin. A bit too shiny for me. The beret picks up the colour from the jacket. The dogtooth gloves are new and I really, really like them.

This dress is a golden riot. I love the kitschy autumn or fall forest print. So pretty you’d love to step into the print right away. I’ll wear this dress probably to death until mid or late November. Because let’s face it – it is a seasonal dress and it waited since January in my closet to get worn. Dieses Kleid ist ein Traum in Gold und Kupfer. Ich liebe diesen kitschigen Druck eines goldenen Herbstwaldes. So schön, das man am liebsten direkt dort hinein möchte. Wahrscheinlich werde ich bis Mitte/ Ende November ständig dieses Kleid anziehen. Denn, Hand aufs Herz – es ist Jahreszeitlich sehr gebunden und ich freue mich seit Januar darauf es anzuziehen.
It is the very idea of my favourite season. Autumn when nature goes out with a bang in a golden splendour. Soon the mornings will be crips. The days get shorter. I love kicking leaves – but I won’t mind if I have to wait a few more weeks to do that. Es ist das Klischee meiner liebsten Jahreszeit. Im Herbst wenn die Natur sich mit einem Paukenschlag verabschiedet. Landschaften in Gold, Gelb, Orange und Kupfer. Bald werden die Morgen wieder frisch. Die Tage werden kürzer. Ich liebe es durch die gefallenen Blätter zu stapfen – aber das kann gerne noch ein paar Wochen warten.

Ok, ich gebe zu meine Outfits für den (Büro-) Alltag sind nicht unbedingt alltäglich. Ich habe da viele Freiheiten, die ich vorher nicht hatte! Die Idee kam auf, als Elli von Curvy Fashionelli neulich ihre Outfits fürs Büro zeigte. Aber die Diskussion kommt öfters auf – ich trage diese Sachen wirklich. Nicht nur fürs Shooting. Der grosse Unterschied zwischen Blog und Realität ist ich schminke mich selten. Augenbrauen nachziehen – gerne. Aber der Rest? Muss nicht. Ok, I admit my outfits for every day are not exactly what most people consider every day outfits. Though I do have a lot of liberties where I work! The idea came when Elli from CurvyFashionelli showed her regular looks recently. But I had these discussions bevor. I really wear the dresses I show you on a daily basis. Not just for shootings. The main difference between blog an realtiy is make-up. I do retouch my eybrows but full make-up? Not really. Only when I feel like it.

Ach, und die Hütchen sind auch mehr für Freizeit. Allerdings trage ich die auch mehr und mehr so. Wobei Baskenmützen für mich nicht zu den Hütchen gehören. Die Hütchen trage ich zum Ausgehen, shoppen, manchmal auch zur Arbeit oder wenn ich in der Politik unterwegs bin. Aber weder in der Ratssitzung noch zu Besprechungen. Oh, an the fascinators or mini-hats are more for my spare time. Though I wear them more and more. I don’t count my berets into that. The hats I wear for a night out, a meal, going shopping, even to work or council. Though I neither wear them during council sessions or in meetings.
…und dann ohne Petticoat diesem Sommer. Links auf dem Weg ins Büro. Rechts: kleiner Umweg vor dem Burgeressen. …and then without a petticoat this summer on the bike. Left to work, right detour before burgers – same day. Changed the shurg.
