Ü30: Spring – New Life Sprouts

Time to join the ladies from the ü30 blogger network for this month’s theme „Sping – New Life Sprouts“. So here comes springtime on my head and out there!.

Es ist Zeit sich den Ladies der ü30 Bloggerinnen (und Friends) anzuschliessen – Thema des Monats ist „Frühling – New Life Sprouts“. Also macht Euch bereit für den Lenz – auf meinem Kopf und da draussen.

This is an original 1950s floral half hat.
Das hier ist ein Blumen-Hütchen (half hat) aus den 1950ger Jahren.

And this was its‘ last owner – Helen Delich Bentley, former republican US Congresswoman, maritime reporter + TV moderator, lobbyist and lover of hats. One of my lovely American vintage crazy ladies I met last winter in Vegas helped raise funds by selling some of Bentley’s hats for the Baltimore Museum of Industry (abbreviated BMI – yep, most of us associate that with the Body Mass Index – but that’s acronmys for you). Helen Delich Bentley was a remarkable woman AND had an amazing collection of hats, especially (floral) ones of the 1960s.

Das hier war seine letzte Besitzerin. Helen Delich Bentley, eine US-amerikanische Kongressabgeordnete, TV-Moderatorin, Lobbyistin und Hutliebhaberin. Eine der grossartigen Amerikanerinnen, die ich letzten Winter in Las Vegas getroffen habe, hat geholfen mit dem Verkauf von einigen von Bentleys Hüten Spenden für das Baltimore Museum of Industry (kurz BMI – und ja, den meisten von uns fällt bei der Abkürzung eher Body Mass Index ein) zu sammeln. Helen Delich Bentley war eine bemerkenswerte Frau UND besass eine grossartige Hutsammlung, besonders (floraler) Hüte aus den 1960gern.

More vintage – this is a fun and cheap 1950s celluloid brooch in a lace pattern.

Mehr vintage – das hier ist eine hübsche, preiswerte 50ger Jahre Zelloloid-Brosche mit einem Spitzenmuster.

And a charming enamel Lisner bracelet with pink and pale blue striped rhinestones and tiny aurora boeralis ones.

Und ein entzückendes Emaille-Armband von Lisner mit rosanen und hellblau gestreiften Strasssteinen plus winzigen im Aurora Borealis Schimmer.

Snapshots of my look this Easter Sunday – the amber bracelet, the brooch and the handbag are vintage, the rest is repro/ retro. The magnolia dress has been featured on this blog before.

Ü30 Blogger + Friends: Topical Delights – Tropisch Exotisch

Time to join the ladies from the ü30 blogger network for this month’s theme „Tropical Delights“. Once a year I dedicate a whole month in Summer to Tiki and tropical outfits. Guess who suggested the theme.

Es ist Zeit sich den Ladies der ü30 Bloggerinnen (und Friends) anzuschliessen – Thema des Monats ist „Tropisch Exotisch“. Einmal im Jahr gibt es bei mir einen ganzen Sommermonat, der dem Hawaii-Kitsch und tropisch-exotischen Prints gewidmet ist. Ratet mal wer dieses Thema vorgeschlagen hat.

Black Forest – Today’s look is based on a leafy print on a black background. Most of my tropical patterns are a bit lighter or more vivid.

Schwarzer Dschungel – der heutige Look basiert auf einem Blättermuster auf schwarzem Hintergrund. Die meisten meiner tropischen Muster sind heller oder bunter.

Pretty Parure – the thermosset jewellry set is from the 1950s or 60s. Guess it is time to look for a matching brooch.

Glorreiches Grün – das Schmuckensemble aus Thermoset ist aus den 1950- oder 60gern. Es isr Zeit nach einer passenden Brosche zu suchen.

Hard to Spot – the orchid brooch is well camouflaged on the leafy pattern.

Gut Versteckt – die Orchideenbrosche ist auf dem Blattmuster schwer zu finden.

Bali in Berlin – the Gardens of the World at the gates of Berlin offer a variety of horticultural experiences. Matching the tropical theme here are some pics from the greenhouses.

Site Visit – work in progress and all geared up with safety shoes, a high vis vest (though a yellow one would have been a better match) and a cool green helmet that meets all the specs.

Baustellenbesuch – bis hier die Freianlagen gebaut werden, dauert es noch was. Brav mit Weste und Arbeitsschuhen und ein cooler Helm – alles normgerecht. Eine gelbe Weste hätte allerdings besser dazu ausgesehen.

Snake Charmer – not sure if the clutch is real or fake snake. It is from the 1950s or 60s. So the question if real or not depended on your budget. The orchid is about from the same era, the clamper bracelet probably from the 1980s. Sunnies and Earrings are new.

Schlangenbeschwörerin – ich bin mir nicht sicher ob die Tasche aus echter oder falscher Schlange ist. In den 1950gern oder den frühen 60s war das mehr eine Frage des Preises als alles andere. Die Orchideenbrosche ist auch aus der Zeit. Die Sonnenbrille und die Ohrringe sind neu.

Same but Different – the top is also in the same print like the dress. It’s been a few years now that I really enjoy to wear shorts again.

Das Gleiche in Grün – das Top hat das gleiche Muster, wie das Kleid. Ich trage seit ein paar Jahren wirklich gerne wieder Shorts.

Ü30 Blogger + Friends: Farbtupfer – Saucy Strawberries

Time to join the ladies from the ü30 blogger network for this month’s theme „Dashs of Colour“. The was a bit of a tough one for me – I tend to do colour not in pinches but in buckets. But then I still had this idea about a strawberry look and thought it goes well together.

Es ist Zeit sich den Ladies der ü30 Bloggerinnen (und Friends) anzuschliessen – Thema des Monats sind „Farbtupfer“. Ich bin ja mehr ganz bunt, als mit Akzenten. Aber hey – und dann hatte ich noch eine Idee für ein Erdbeer Outfit und fand das passt gut zusammen.

That charming little hat is (again) from Frollein von Sofa. The polka-dot dress is from last year.

Das charmante Hütchen ist (mal wieder) von Frollein von Sofa. Das Kleid mit den Pünktchen ist vom letzten Sommer.

Good morning! I wear this strawberry dress as a nightie – with a slip underneath.

Guten Morgen! Ich trage da nicht als Kleid, sondern als Nachthemd – mit einem Unterkleid.

Strawberry Fields Forever. The chunky strawberry pendant is vintage, the rest is new(ish). The darling little charm necklace is from 2006 – soon it’ll be vintage, too.

Erdbeerzeit das ganze Jahr. Der grosse Erdbeeranhäger isrt alt, der Rest neu(er). Der niedliche kleine Anhänger ist von 2006 und ist auch bald ein Vintageschätzchen.

The strawberries from this lovely confection are from vintage millinery stock.

Die Erdbeeren auf dem hübschen Hütchen sind aus altem Putzmaterial für Hutmacher.

Ü30 Blogger + Friends: Powerlooks meets Racing Day

Time to join the ladies from the ü30 blogger network for this month’s theme „Powerlooks“. We all have one or two outfits or in my case dresses we like to wear that can take us anywhere. From Christmas (and council sessions) to business meetings and even the races, this is a most year round dress with sleeves and pockets. Unlike another staple of mine.

Es ist Zeit sich den Ladies der ü30 Bloggerinnen (und Friends) anzuschliessen – Thema des Monats ist „Powerlooks“. Wir alle haben ein oder zwei Outfits oder in meinem Fall Kleider die wir fast überall tragen können. Egal ob Weihnachten (und Ratssitzungen) oder Besprechungen, zum Pferderennen – das ist ein fast Ganzjahres-Kleid mit Ärmeln und Taschen. Im Gegensatz zu einem anderen Lieblingskleid.

Unfortunately this year I’ll miss out the Ladies Day at the racetrack in Krefeld. I’ll be in Berlin with the office that weekend. But both the pretty hunting silks scarf and the dashing red hat have been there before. Although not together (yet).

Leider verpasse ich dieses Jahr den Ladies Day des Krefelder Rennclubs. Ich bin dann mit dem Büro auf Exkursion in Berlin. Aber sowohl das britische Jagdtuch aus Seide als auch der dramatische rote Hut waren schon mal da. Allerdings (noch) nicht zusammen.

Picknick-Time at the Races – this super cute and pristine „handbag“ is a true vintage beauty from the US from the 1950s or maybe from the early 60s. Like so often it is hard to tell. I got this from Moss Vintage – Jeffrey has an amazing collection of accessories himself and sells great pieces. Have a look at his Etsy shop.

Picknick-Zeit beim Pferderennen – diese tolle und makellose „Handtasche“ ist ein altes Schätzchen aus den USA, aus den1950ger, eventuell den frühen 60gern. Das ist meistens schwierig genau zu sagen von wann. Ich habe die von Moss Vintage – Jeffrey hat selber eine wahnsinnig tolle Sammlung von Accessoires und verkauft sehr schöne Stücke. Schaut einfach mal in seinen Etsy Shop.

It would be ashame to leave this basket at home this year. We could still have a little gathering even if there is no best hat competition. As Sunday is the last day for the 9 Euro Ticket, I’d lean towards the After-Work Event.

Viel zu schade um zu Hause zu bleiben: wir können auch ohne grossen Hutwettbewerb ein kleines Treffen machen. Da der Sonntag, der letzte Tag für das 9 EuroTicket ist, plädiere ich für den Freitag „nach der Arbeit“.
