Plussize Fashion Days Hamburg 2016 – Beth Ditto Lola Lipstick Dress

I guess I never travelled for so few days with so much luggage like this weekend. The destination were the Plussize Fashion Days by Kurvenrausch in Hamburg. 2016 was the fourth time for the event.
Ich kann ich nicht daran erinnern für so wenige Tage schon mal soviel Gepäck mitgenommen zu haben. Das Ziel waren die Plussize Fashion Days von Kurvenrausch in Hamburg. 2016 war das vierte Event dieser Art.

A themed party, two days of shopping and a Fashion/ Award show. Lots of plussize bloggers and fashion savvy people present. You want to look your best for that. For the travel days I chose my Beth Ditto dress. The Lola in the lipstick print is quite flamboyant.

Eine Mottoparty, zwei Tage zu, shoppen und eine Modenschau mit Preisverleihung. Viele (Plussize) Blogger und modebewusste Frauen. Da will man glänzen. Für die Reisetage habe ich mich für mein Beth Ditto Kleid entschieden. Das Lola mit dem Lippenstiftdruck sticht immer hervor.

Zizzi made a little workshop where the invited bloggers were given the chance to customise their gifted jeans. Like in this pic Nane from Wundercurves.

Zizzi hat einen Workshop angeboten bei denen die geladenen Blogger die Chance hatten Jeans für sich anzupassen. Wie hier Nane von Wundercurves.

But first the new line got introduced. Slim fitted jeans are not really my thing. But I liked a denim carmen top and some floral crepe pants.

Zuerst wurde die neue Kollektion vorgestellt. Slimfit-Jeans sind nicht wirklich mein Ding. Gut gefallen haben mit ein Carmentop aus Jeans und eine Crêpe-Hose mit floralem Muster.

The wonderful Mary from BodyMary brought me these sunglasses from Berlin. So little time for so many people I only meet one or twice a year. Way too short to catch up.

Die wunderbare Mary from BodyMary hat mir die Sonnenbrille aus Berlin mitgebracht. Es war mal wieder viel zu wenig Zeit für so viele Menschen, die ich nur ein bis zwei mal im Jahr treffe. Viel zu kurz um sich wirklich auszutauschen.

Peacocks in Purple – Trenchcoat

I am used to get noticed. Not primarily as a fat person. But as someone who dresses very uniquely. Flamboyant even. I don’t mind. Actually it is something I got used to a few years ago. I don’t realise it on many days. I get more compliments than laughs. However, the purple peacock trench coat is in a league of its own.
Ich bin es gewohnt aufzufallen. Nicht primär weil ich fett bin. Aber als jemand, die sehr auffällig gekleidet ist. Das macht mir nichts. Um ehrlich zu sein ist es etwas an das ich mich vor einigen Jahren gewöhnt habe. An den meisten Tagen fällt es mir nicht mal mehr auf. Ich bekomme mehr Komplimente, als das ich ausgelacht werde. Der lila Trenchcoat mit dem Pfauenmuster ist allerdings in seiner eigenen Liga.

LindyBop introduced it in summer. There was another one with a heart pattern like here on Ninaah’s „Big or not to Big“. Both quickly sold out despite being out of season. The arms are not that generously cut. Neither is the breast. So I sized up. It is fully skirted so putting a petticoat underneath doesn’t look stuffed.
LindyBop hatte den Mantel im Sommer im Programm. Es gab den noch mit einem Herz-muster, wie hier bei Ninaah auf ihrem Blog „Big or not to Big“. Beide waren schnell ausverkauft. Auch wenn die nicht ganz zur Jahreszeit passten.Die Arme sind nicht sehr grosszügig geschnitten. Die Brust auch nicht. Deswegen habe ich eine Grösse grösser genommen. Der Rockteil ist grosszügig genug geschnitten. Ein Petticoat passt drunter, ohne dass der Mantel wie ausgestopft aussieht.

It is long enough to cover my skirts and dresses. Which is good. Not a lot of patterns go with it. It is a statement coat. Perfect for the transitional season or a rather cool summer day.
Der Mantelsaum ist lang genug um über meine Röcke und Kleider zu gehen. Das ist gut so. Muster passen nämlich kaum welche dazu. Es ist halt ein „Statement“-Mantel. Ein Einzelstück. Perfekt für die Übergangszeit – oder aber wirklich kühle Sommertage.

I want to wear it in London in springtime. With my little black Lola dress from Beth Ditto (currently at a bargain price – 70% of the original). Neither the bright Asian pattern nor the vivid purple are for the faint of heart. But of course I’d buy it any day again.
Ich will diesen Mantel im Frühjahr in London anziehen. Mit Lola, meinem kleinen Schwazen von Beth Ditto (das jetzt gerade für einen Hammerpreis im Sale ist – 70% reduziert). Weder das leuchtende Lila noch das asiatische Muster sind etwas für Zaghafte. Und natürlich würde ich mir den Mantel jederzeit wiederkaufen.

Boots made for Adventures

These boots are not just for walking. They look like proper adventurer boots. They make me think of Amalia Earhart (at least from the Night at the Museum 2 movie), Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games and what I’d wear in company of Indiana Jones.
Diese Stiefel sind nicht einfach nur zum Gehen gemacht (wie in dem Song von Nancy Sinatra). Die sehen nach Abenteuern aus. Nach Amalia Earhart (zumindest in der Filmversion aus Nacht im Museum 2), Katniss Everdeen aus den Tributen von Panem und was ich anziehen würde wenn ich mit Indiana Jones unterwegs wäre.

Took me a long time to find them. And at first their price came as a shock. 350 EUR. Ouch. But then the price got dropped to 280 EUR. Plus 15% signing up for the newsletter. Still expensive. But within my reach. So I bought them in summer. Took a while to cool down. They were perfect on the beach with tartan with a dress. And they are perfect in the dunes (and on the beach as well).
Es hat ewig gedauert solche Stiefel zu finden. Und zuerst war ihr Preis eine unangenehme Überraschung. 350 EUR. Aua! Dann wurden sie auf 280 EUR gesenkt. Plus 15% weil ich mich für den Newsletter angemeldet habe. Immer noch verdammt teuer. Aber in Reichweite. Also habe ich sie im August gekauft. Hat etwas gedauert bis das Wetter auf Stiefeltemperaturen runterging. Sie passen auch super zum Kleid, wie am Strand in einem herbstlichen Maritimenlook. Und sie sind auch perfekt in den Dünen.

The wax coat is a few years old. The paisley scarf is vintage. The bag is another proof of my love for tweed and tartans. I look like I am ready to shoot grouse in Scotland. Or about to embark on an adventure. Rather than go for cake. Wich I was. With the parents.
Die Wachsjacke habe ich schon seit einigen Jahren. Das Paisleytuch ist Vintage. Die Umhängetasche zeigt mal wieder wie sehr ich Schottenkaros und Tweed mag. So könnte ich auch in Schottland Moorhühner jagen. Oder zu einem Abenteuer aufbrechen. Nicht nur mit den Eltern zum Kuchenessen.

Vintage Bus – Vintage Looks

Two weeks ago I lost my heart to a small island in the North Sea. Wide beaches. Wonderful climate. A bit lost in time. Borkum ist the most Western of the German Frisian islands. And the largest.
Vor zwei Wochen habe ich mich verliebt – in eine kleine Insel in der Nordsee. Weite Strände. Hochseeklima. Etwas in der Zeit stehen geblieben. Borkum ist die westlichste und grösste der Friesischen Inseln in Deutschland.

Autumn by the sea can be full of crisp air and sunshine. It can also be a miserable wet windswept affair. The parents and I were very lucky. The salty pure air balm for what remains from my whooping cough.
Der Herbst an der See kann so schön sein mit einer steifen Briese, blauem Himmel und Sonnenschein. Verregnet und windig geht auch. Meine Eltern und ich hatten Glück. Die gute Luft war eine Wohltat für meinen abklingenden Keuchhusten.

I was still was weak as a kitten. So one of the things we did was take a bus tour over the tiny island. Great fun. Thanks to the dry wit of the bus driver. And what a bus! Built in 1951 by Mercedes. The year my mum was born. Shiny red and black from the outside. Inside upholstered with a brownish herringbone tweed. Like a lovely hunting jacket. Softly sprung seats. What a beauty.
Ich war immer noch total schwach auf den Beinen. Deswegen haben wir dann auch die Inselrundfahrt gemacht. Das war spassig. Das lag aber auch am trockenen Humor unseres Busfahrers. Ohhh – und was für ein toller Bus. Der Nostalgiebus ist ein Mercedes von 1951. Dem Geburtsjahr meiner Mutter. Glänzendes Rot und Schwarz von aussen. Innen gepolstert mit einem braunbeigen Fischgrät-Tweed. Wie englisches Jackett. Weich gefederte Sitze. Vintage bus deserved a vintage look – and I usually dress that way anyway. A rare sight on the island. Matching the bus and the maritime surrounding I decided to go for my fair-isle sweater with a wiggle tartan skirt. The little suitcase used to be a beauty case. I think it makes a nice handbag for seminars too. Fits filing folders, too.
Der Oldtimer-Bus hat sich natürlich auch ein passendes Outfit verdient. Für mich ist mein Retro-Look normal. Auf der Insel war es etwas ungewohnt. Passend zum Bus und dem maritimen Umfeld habe ich mich für meinen Bleistiftrock im hellen Schottenkaro entschieden. Der kleine Koffer ist ein Beauty Case aus den 60gern. Finde den auch toll für Seminare. DIN A4 geht auch rein.

French Curves: Le Bomber féminin

Le “Bomber” dans une silhouette féminisé“ – gnahh. Un vraie challenge pour moi dans le moins consacré à la mobilisation autour du cancer du sein. L’octobre rose.
The feminin styled bomber. Ohhh my. A real challenge for me in this month dedicated to breast cancer awareness. Pinkoctober.

Pour le thème j’ai pensé dans l’instant à ma robe rose avec des points noirs. Pink Lady en bomber. J’ai essayé deux bombers d’Asos. Le noir est trop longue, trop grand. Dommage parce qu’un autre vest „casual“ est une bonne idée.
For that motto I instantly thought about my pink dress with the black dots. Pink lady in a bomber jacket. I tried to bombers form Asos. The black one I which I hoped would be a good addition to my wardrobe. A much needed casual jacket. However it was too long. Too big. Bugger

Le bomber rose est super-coupée pour moi. J’aime la couleur. Un rose blush. Mais ça va pas avec ma robe rose. Pas du tout. Bien. Change du plan. Gris et rose sont toujours bien ensemble.
The pink bomber is actually cut for me. I love the colour. A blush pink. But it didn’t go with the dress I picked. Not at all. Change of plans – grey and pink always go together.

Le col et les manchettes sont noir et blanc. Et j’aime bien des assecoires noir et blanc. Comme cette écharpe d’Alice au pays des merveilles.
The cuffs on this jacket are black and white. And I love black and white accessories. Like this Alice in Wonderland scarf.

Le tweed de la robe est un bon contraste avec le satin très lumineux. Un peu trop lumineux pour moi. Le bibi est dans la même couleur que la veste. Les gants en pied de coq sont nouveaux aussi et ils me plaisent beaucoup.
The tweed fabric of the dress is an excellent contrast to the shiny satin. A bit too shiny for me. The beret picks up the colour from the jacket. The dogtooth gloves are new and I really, really like them.

DIY your Closet – Peacock Fascinator

Es ist wieder einmal der zweite Sonntag im Monat und damit auch wieder Zeit für DIY your Closet. Der Herbst ist da – und damit auch endlich die Zeit für Outfits mit Jacken und meine Art von Lieblingsstoffen und -materialien: Tweed, Brokat, Stickereien und nennen wir es Seidenstoffe. Dieser hier ist aus Kunstfaser. Dafür mit Stretch. Suzie Wong fürs Büro.
It’s another second Sunday of the month. Time for DIY your Closet. Autum came – and it is finally time for outfits with jackets and my favourite materials, like tweed, jaquard, embroidery and let’s call it silks. This one is artificial but stretchy. Suzie Wong for the Office.

Wieder mal musste der Saum gekürzt werden. Die Reste waren nicht üppig – deswegen habe ich auch diesmal wieder wie letzten Monat beim HellBunny Fascinator den Stoff geschichtet.
Once more the hem had to be taken in. The leftover from the hem wasn’t much – so I used the layering technique I used last month for the HellBunny fascinator.

Oben hui und unten – ähhhhh… einfach. Dieses Bild ist für Anja von EverydayBoudoir und diejenigen von euch, die sich fragen wie das Haarband hält. Ich benutze Haarbänder anstelle von Krokodilklemmen oder Kämmen. Mein Haar ist zu dünn dafür.
Outside swank – inside rank (at least a dictionary gave me that translation). This pic is for Anja from EverydayBoudoir who wanted to know how it is attached. I use headbands instead of crocodile clasps or combs. My hair is too thin for those.

Kein Cheongsam – aber dafür wesentlich tragbarer. Mit dem Hemd drunter ein urbaner Look fürs Büro oder den Einkaufsbummel mit ein paar Cocktails am Ende des Tages.
No Cheongsam – but more wearable. With the shirt underneath a look for the city, for the office or a shopping trip with some drinks at the end of the day.

Sailor Look – Fall edition

Marine Looks sind ein Dauerbrenner im Sommer. Eigentlich jeden Sommer. Nun ist der Sommer vorbei. Es ist Herbst. Und ich bin an der Nordsee. Genauer auf Borkum. Lange Strände. Hochseeklima.
Navy outfits somehow make it back each and every summer.But summer is over. Fall or Autumn is here. And I am by the North Sea. On the island of Borkum to be precise. Long beaches. Climate of the open sea.

Diesen Sommer gab es von mir für die French Curves einen Marine Look und dann auch einen weiteren, etwas lässigeren für DIY your Closet. Im Herbst gibt es das Ganze etwas besser verpackt. Ein Zwiebellook im 50s Style.
This summer I created for the French Curves a Sailor Look and another more casual one for DIY your Closet. Now was it is colder it is a bit more wrapped up. A bit like an onion in a 50s style.

Schuhe, Halstuch und Tasche gab es auch schon bei den Marine Looks im Sommer zu sehen.
Shoes, scarf and bag have been used as accessories for the navy summer styles.

Das rote Tuch musste zuhause bleiben.
The red scarf stayed at home.

Ladies Lunch

I love to meet friends for lunch – it always feels quite special to be able to do that during the week. A few days before I went with the same outfit to the post office. Although without the hat.
Ich liebe es mich mit Freunden oder Freundinnen zum Mittagessen zu verabreden. Für mich ein echter Luxus unter der Woche. Ein paar Tage vorher bin ich so zur Post gegangen – ok, ohne den Hut.

The dress is from the summer sales at LindyBop. It has sleeves. A rare commoditiy. I also have this style in polkadots and tartan. This is the early autumn or late summer style for this dress. The pastel pink picks up the tone used in the opulent pattern. The vintage hand bag is a hand down from my mum. Oxblood or bordeaux is always a great colour for autumn.
Das Kleid ist aus dem letzten Sale im Sommer von LindyBop. Mit Ärmeln. Das ist leider selten. Dieses Modell habe ich auch noch mit Pünktchen und Schottenkaro. Das hier ist ein Look für den Spätsommer oder frühen Herbst für dieses Kleid. Das Hellrosa greift einen der Töne des opulenten Musters auf. Die Vintage-Clutch habe ich von imeiner Ma. Ochsenblut oder Weinrot ist immer eine gute Farbwahl im Herbst.

The hat is from the 1950s. I got it this Summer in Berlin during Fashionweek at the lovely and very dangerous vintage shop Fräulein Anders.
Der Hut ist aus den 1050gern. Ich habe ihn mir diesen Sommer in Berlin während der Fashionweek in dem wunderbaren und deswegen ungemein gefährlichen Vintageladen von Fräulein Anders.

The material is felt. The condition immaculate. These hats are so called cocktail hats or juliet / skull caps. It is more typical for the 50s than the pillbox. Which is actually more late 50s or rather early 60s.
Das Material ist Filz. Der Zustand makellos. Dies ist ein sogenannter Cocktailhut oder auch Juliet / Skull Cap. Irgendwie haben wir auf deutsch entweder weniger Bezeichnungen dafür oder sie sind mit nicht geläufig. Wie auch immer – eine typische Form für die 50ger. Typischer als die Pillbox – die ist mehr späte Fünfziger oder frühe 1960ger.

Lunch was outside at an Italian place around the corner.
Lunch war draussen bei einem Italienischen Restaurant in meiner Nachbarschaft.
