#GermanCurves: Mit Glamour ins neue Jahr – Black Sparkles

Today the more traditional NYE outfit. Little black dress and silver sparkling tights plus an appropriate amount of rhinestones. Love the necklace. The location is the still newish sushi and grill restaurant Yumini. Love the over the top decor (especially the chandeliers), the staff is friendly and I am very happy with the food. Not sure what they put into their algae salad but I can’t get enough of it! Even had two inaris, usually I don’t like them, I order them frequently, but I don’t really care about them.

#GermanCurves: NYE Golden Girl

The German plus size community #GermanCurves has a challenge today: A Glamorous New Year’s Eve  – Mit Glamour in das neue Jahr!.

I will post another outfit, a safer one. But what could be more glam than a golden brocade coat? Mine is from Lane Bryant, not sure which season. I got it last spring on Ebay.com. I had the sleeves shortened to 3/4 length to give it that 60s vibe. Am very happy that it is tailored. The vintage fur cuffs used to be a scarf I got at my regular bric-a-brac place for 6 EUR! Another friendly seamstress turned them into cuffs. The dress is a cold blush pink, got that in spring, too. Once I go back to my natural blond I will ditch the pink heels with the outfit – but today I like how they match my hair.

Baby, it’s cold outside!

After food and more glorious food, followed by ehm, even more food and some Films, the parents and I went out for a winter walk. Cold and sunny, and just a bit of snow to wet your appetite. Borrowed my mums hiking shoes, but could have easily worn my sturdy 40s style brogues. The parents didn’t want to venture into the woods.
The coat usually has no (fake) fur cuffs. I clipped them on after the office Christmas party, when I wore the cuffs with my red wiggle dress. I quite like the look.

Let it snow!

Winter is coming. Though it is still above freezing at the parent’s house, so currently it snows but the white wonder won’t last.

Adventskalender: Think Pink!

I thought about this for a while – actually once the decision was made to have my hair cut to a bob. And suddenly I really, really wanted pink hair, too – at least once. So I picked this colour – Candy Floss Pink in the shop underneath the hairdresser’s salon.

I wanted something like this:

or look like Helen Mirren

Helen Mirren rocking in Candy Floss Pink!

but somehow – it wasn’t pink enough on me! And no – I didn’t dye my hair white or platinum in the first place.

I wanted it a bit more pink – think a mix of barbie pink and cotton candy. One of my friends suggested I redye it. So I bought Flamingo Pink. Guess I should have read a few tips how to tone it down a bit. But I didn’t. Initially I wanted to meet a few people on the Christmas market – but that plan failed. So in the spur of a moment and just before preparing dinner I dyed my hair…

oooops, that looks strong!

oooops, that looks strong!

…and then I thought, ah, that’ll wash out. It didn’t. Well not tonight. I quite like the result. It is neither subtle nor for the faint of heart. But it is very moi!

Do you like it?

Adventskalender: #OOTD I’ll be home for Christmas

This year is going to be special – I’ll be home for Christmas. That isn’t really that new. I am always kind of home for Christmas. This year however, my parents are staying in my bachlorette pad. We will be a merry bunch for Christmas eve: the friends with whom I usually celebrate Christmas Eve, her parents who moved over from the States to be closer to their only daughter, my neighbour (and ex-boyfriend), another friend and her fiance, as well as my parents and I. My man won’t join us – he doesn’t do Christmas. We will have coffee, cake and savouries and go to the local English service. Some more sherry or bubbly at my place later and possibly some mild clubbing with my man after the parents have gone to bed.

This outfit however is the one I’ll wear for Boxing Day, the second day of Christmas. I fell badly in love with this tartan beauty (which is sold out now at Boden). It is ever so classy (I was lucky to get in on a 40% sale). For a festive look I teamed it with vintage mink and a sparkling brooch. The fascinator is a thin golden headband on which I clipped two shoe clips (looked even for me a bit over the top on my heels). No handbag featured. But Christmas with the family is more about bringing a basket along for the presies for the kids. 2014-12-14 tartan
dress: Boden’s Isla Dress
shoes: Halle Berry Collection at Deichmann (2013?)
mink scarf, shoe clips/fascinator, rhinestone brooch: vintage

Schöne Bescherung – my secret (vintage) Santa

This is my secret (vintage) Santa presie from Mein vorgestern. She had the idea for this – a secret Santa fpr vintage enthusiasts and bloggers. Lovely packed. I adore the type writer brooch and can’t wait to try the recipe in the booklet. Many thanks fpr the present, the uplifting dedication and for your time to organise the secret Santa!

Mein Vintagewichtelgeschenk von Mein vorgestern. Toll verpackt.
