Curvy Christmas Special

Hohoho – Christmas is over. It is the time between the years that I enjoy to unwind. This blog has been too silent for the last months. And I am seriously late since it is New Year’S Eve tonight.

It’s been a whirl – I went to Las Vegas to meet my ladies from the wonderful VFAST vintage show and tell zoom parties that helped me so much during the lock-down phases of the pandemic. In mid October I found myself a new job which I’ll start in the beginning of January. But more about that and Vegas soon – promise!

No new Christmas dress for me this year – although does this one count? I already got it in red or berry, – close enough to the classic Royal Stewart Tartan and in a dark green with yellow and orange.

The pretty little cnady cane fascinator is agift from Elenor from my VFAST (Vintage Fashion and Accessories Show and Tell Facebook-group)

Both, brooch and the cream white mink collar are vintage. The collar is from the 1950s or 60s. The brooch is signed with the Metropolitan Museum of Art stamp.

This year it is once more the white Christmas tree – with pink and green ornaments. Last year’s astronauts and the unicorn are in there too, but no new ornaments.

Tea for one with mix and match vintage china.

Elf yourself – my fun look for boxing day. Sorry the pic is a bit blurry. Unfortunately I lost the pretty poinsettia on my night out. The pin was still attached to the green velvet jacket.

Tweed meets gingerbread – the red tights are sooo much fun. And I think they work really well with my (mock) tweed skirt and waist coat.

The mini deerstalker or half hat is sooo cute and definitely needs more mileage. My christmas jewellry collection has grown quite a bit over the last years. The snowflake brooches are from last year.

Sommerfreuden – Sunny Oranges

The flavors of summer definitely include oranges. Jucy, succulent oranges.

The luxulite or thermoset brooch is another true vintage piece. It is signed Lisner, one of the leading costume jewellers of the 1940s and 60s. It is such a gorgeous piece.

The toe is still broken – but that was the first time in 10 days that I wore real shoes. I still need a lot of patience until this is healed.

Another tablecloth meets fruit pattern. So delicious. I couldn’t resist to buy the matching shorts in the winter sales, too. There is still a swing dress in that pattern.

This is a no make-up hometime look. The little flamingo is a fun watering can.

The vintage brooch is another one from the 1950s or 60s. The opalesque rhinestones are rpse with a warm orange fire inside.

This year feels like summer never ends. It is way too hot. The prospect that is will be one of the cooler ones is daunting. Next week is another blogparade queing up – theme is try something new.

New – probier mal was neues.

Bonjour Tristesse – Cheerio Tweed Pants

This winter feels like a neverending November. This is the last hurray for these awesome tweed pants. Classic Marlene style. I got them 6 years ago, they never fit better but chafing killed them now.

The PU corsage needs to be dressed down a bit – and it requires really high waisted bottoms.

Finally a use for clip on earrings. I struggle to wear them the regular way. These are from the dark snowqueen post.

Soooo british – an old school tweed tie and the fun „royal Beefeater“ socks.

Live Long and Prosper: the pins are from the tower of the German Mining Museum here in town, the Bochum logo and Mr. Spock.

Wintercheer – Pullunder Liebe

English only today. Currently I got this thing for tweed ties and (sweater) vests. House of Foxy has lovely ones. Fair isle patterns. 40s vibes. Great colour and good quality wool. This isn’t one of them. I struggle with real wool. Even with a shirt in between. Meh! But the pattern is nice, it feels soft and I don’t try to scratch my skin off. The mock tweed skirt was last year on the blog and recently taken in a bit by my tailor.

The tweed tie is one of 4. They have these old school English teacher vibes. Although none of my teachers ever wore one like this, especially since most of them were female and it was the 1980s to very early 1990s.

In case you still have a sugar rush from too many Christmas movies with an overdose of harmony try those dysfunctional families (on Netflix) for new year’s detox. The Willoghbys and the Royal Tenenbaums are movies – where as Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events and the Umbrella Academy entertain for a few days.

Celebrating Life – zwischen Hochzeit und Schlammlauf

Happy blog-birthday! MissKittenheel went online about 7 years ago. It is also the proud very first birthday of my Fitbit #Stalkerwatch. On which I clogged more than 2780k within the last year. I feel more alive than in the last years – though this weekend I came down with a nasty cold.

Herzlichen Blog-Geburtstag!

The dress was on my blog before – although only worn a few times I bought it in 2015.

Out and About. I went to the market and some more (chore) shopping after shooting those pics in my courtyard.

Unterwegs.

Love can find you at any age. I more or less wore this look to a wedding (with boring black tights and sneakers because they were much warmer). I love weddings. The wedding was Wolfgang’s (and his 2nd wife Elisabeth). Wolfgang is a dear colleague from my political group in the city council. And it is great to see him happy again after some very hard years of battling cancer and losing his first wife. So crongrats again!

Liebe kennt kein Alter.

Muddy Angel Run. I had my own celebration of life after a few turbulent years. Finally I was fit enough to take part in a mud run (ok, we just walked) with obstacles – the fun orientated Muddy Angel Run in Cologne. My cousin Karina (and gorgeous illustrator and writer of children’s books) joined me and we had quite a ball. The action pics were taken (and bought) by Sportograf.

Muddy Angel Run.

Exhillerating – still alive and kicking.

Adrenalin pur – mit Spass dabei!

Hope you’ll join me next time for Halloween!

Heimatliebe – Taffeta + Lace

Round 2 of  Oktoberfest Craze – time to get traditional. You can hadly get more traditional than with taffeta, lace and embroidery. The corsage is new – I have been lurking around it for about three years at various retailers. Early in the corona crisis there was an excellent offer and I finally caved in.

I still struggle with aprons and a scarf can also be used as a scarf. This is the second time the green skirt is featured in the Oktoberfest Craze on my blog.

I love the contrast with the grafiti walls and you’ll see more of those in the future.

The little rooster is is Portugese – I bought it second hand. Portugal is still on my list of places to go but I get I need one souvenir less. There is a nice legend tied to it.

Autumn has come to my balcony – with pumpkins, chrysanthenums and a handful of blackberries.

Look No.2 is simpler. The broderie anglais blouse is a nice dash of country with a classic shirt.

The blue skirt was earlier this year on the blog for this year’s steampunk fair.

The fascinator is made with vintage embroidered trims. The slimmer blue ordered one is from the 1920s. It is the second fascinator I made in a very, very long time. For now you can have a peek at the other one on my Instagram account.

Vintage Jewelry: those are not garnets but dark red rhinestones and the green millefiori as well as the gentian brooches are from the 1950s.

Geek Chic(k): Fake Leather

This outfit was meant for the French Curves and the fake leather skirt is the first item for a long, long time I bought for a challenge. Sadly the challenge never happened. As there days in May are a bit cooler than I like it is a good look for something that feels a bit like autumn.

It is once more the sixteenth of the months and it is time for the French Curves. The leopard print is something I really like, but  I just keep to accessories.

I always have the impression that leopard print is not for me.  Animal printed clothing always strikes me as something for other people but on me it is a bit too much. I don’t feel like Grace Kelly in them but rather like thé cliché of the madam of a cheap brothel.

But it is also the time before Christmas. During Advent I love to wear kitschy Christmas sweaters. This one was bought in the January sales. With a „festive“ puss that looks suspiciously like „grumpy cat“. I currently own three Christmas sweaters and I think that is plenty.

I made the mini hat or fascinator from an old 1960s fur cap.

The French Curves were created by Gaëlle Prudenico. Each month dozens of curvy French speaking bloggers take part in the challenge. The mission: to create an outfit around a shared theme, in our own styles. This challenge celebrates the diversity we have, our different body types and sizes.

On the Go: Elf Yourself for the Office

Technically this no Christmas wear. The black and green Veronica dress is from Pin-Up-Girl-Clothing and the pussy bow tunic with the tiny heart patterns underneath is by Studio Untold. The brooch is vintage but the headband is new. The looks goes from fun workwear to festive party or a date. Though not a first one, at least not with the headband.

Can’t wait to see the baby godchild as a little elf. Pics will follow soon!

Here you can see me as „Mrs. Claus“.

Library Chic – Fancy November

This is a surprisingly mild november. It is time to re-show a dress I like to wear for work and politics. Last year I bought the chinoisery blouse. All in all a proper (and slightly prim) look. A nod to the inner geek. A bit lady of the manor.
