Time to join the ladies from the ü30 blogger network for this month’s theme „Hobbies“ – so apart from the obvious – blogging or (vintage) fashion and accessories, I cycle and go on hikes and to round it up I am particitpating in local politcs.

Es ist Zeit sich den Ladies der ü30 Bloggerinnen (und Friends) anzuschliessen – Thema des Monats sind „Hobbies“ – abgesehen vom offensichtlichem – dem Bloggen bzw. (Vintage) Mode und Accessoires, gehe ich wandern und radfahren und runde das Ganze mit ehrenamtlichem Einsatz in der Kommunalpolitik ab.

Das ist das Kleid mit passendem Bolero das ich mir selber zum Geburtstag gekauft habe, neben dem Hut, den ich letzten Monat gezeigt hier gezeigt hatte.

So, back to the regular hobbies – cyling. This is #derFahrrad (the Bike, but in mock German) – he gets out and about on a weekly basis with his chum on the left. Currently at 40-50k tours.

Zurück zu der Sache mit den Hobbies – das ist #derFahrrad. Er bekommt recht viel Bewegung. Mit seinem Kumpel RoN (dem Rad ohne Namen) zur Linken geht es einmal die Woche auf Tour. Momentan sind wir bei 40-50k.

Most days I actually wear a dress on the bike – that is why I have all of these swing dresses. But that day the weather was rather glum. The pink rain jacket was gifted in 2016.

Ich fahre eigentlich meistens mit einem Kleid Fahrrad – deswegen habe ich all diese Petticoatkleider. Aber an dem Tag war es ziemlich üselig. Also habe ich die 2016 gesponsorte Regenjacke angezogen.

In and after pulmonary rehab I started walking against my Asthma- I try to go at least for 5k and a proper hike of 12-15k once a week. I had a few set-backs – in March my knee wasn’t too impressed with the amount of walking I did and I struggeld with fatigue syndrome for 3 weeks (!) after my second Covid-vaccination. I am a rare case. Yayh – not.

In und nach meiner Asthma-Kur habe ich angefangen im wahrsten Sinne dagegen anzugehen. Ich versuche ca 5k am Tag zu gehen und einmal die Woche 12-15k zu wandern. Es gab schon ein paar Rückschläge – wegen des Knies im März und nach meiner zweiten Covid-Impfung hatte ich wieder drei Wochen (!) mit Fatigue / Erschöpfungssyndrom zu kämpfen. Ich bin ein seltener Fall. Hurra. Nicht.

A good deal of my free time is spent with politics – I am on the local council for the conservatives – the CDU (Christian Democratic Party). Top: at the womens association and below at the podium speaking during Thursday’s council session. Ten years ago I became involved in politics. It was quite a life changer.

Politisches Engagement beansprucht einen recht grossen Teil meiner Freizeit. Ich bin für die CDU im Rat der Stadt Bochum. Das obere Bild war neulich beim Landesdelegiertentag NRW der Frauen Union und unten am Donnerstag bei der Ratssitzung. Vor 10 Jahren habe ich damit angefangen und mein Leben hat sich dadurch sehr verändert.

I looooooove cocktails,novelty prints and sarong dresses. So you can imagine my excitement when Collectif made one with all three ingredients. Actually a halterneck but by tailor turned that into regular straps.

Ich liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiebe Cocktails, Novelty Prints („lustige“ grafische Prints) und Sarong-Kleider. Ich war ziemlich happy das Collectif eines mit allen drei Zutaten hergestellt hat. Eigentlich ein Neckholder – aber mein tapferer Schneider hat daraus Träger gemacht.

Mix and Match – I also collect vintage jewellry – all paste. I love the sparkles of aurora borealis rhinestones. The orchid brooch is enamel and marcasite.

A few years back after years of insecurities I realised wearing shorts isn’t the end of the civilised world as we know it. So if it’s hot wear them. And wear them like it is the most normal thing to do – which it actually is. The black shirt isn’t for modesty by the way but to prevent sunburn.

Nach langen Jahren voller Unsicherheiten habe ich irgendwann beschlossen – die Welt geht nicht unter wenn ich Shorts trage. Zieht sie an wenn es heiss ist! Und tragt sie als wäre das völlig normal, denn das ist es auch. Das schwarze Hemd ist auch nicht da um meine Arme zu kaschieren, sondern gegen die Sonne.

In case you wonder why I am standing like this – I had a nasty insect bite on my right knee. But yeah – you can see big thighs and chunky arms and – so what? The only thing that bothers me is the playsuit is a bit tricky to open and close. That either requires my very own version of yoga or a friendly hand to (un)zip me.

Falls ihr euch wundert warum ich so da stehe – ich hatte am rechten Knie einen fiesen Mückenstich. Ansonsten – yep – kräftige Oberschenkel und dicke Arme – na und? Das einzige was mich dabei wirklich stört ist, dass der Playsuit etwas schwierig zu öffnen und schliessen ist. Das löst entweder Yoga für Fortgeschrittene aus oder bedarf freundlicher Unterstützung.

Well hidden on the leafy background is the beautiful truevintage thermoset jewellry – a set from the 1950s or ealy 60s that includes a necklace, bracelet and (not in the picture) a pair of clip-on earrings. I got the ombre sunnies last year on vinted and the monstera earrings this year on Etsy.

Gut getarnt auf dem Hintergrund mit den Blättern ist der wunderschöne Thermoset-Schmuck aus den 1950ger oder frühen 60ger Jahren mit einer Halskette, einem Armband und (nicht abgebildet) Ohrclips. Die Sonnenbrille mit dem Farbverlauf habe ich letztes Jahr bei vinted, damals noch Kleiderkreisel entdeckt und die Monsterblätter-Ohrringe dieses Jahr bei Etsy.

I love this kitschy and fun tropical delight theme. Today you get a Hell Bunny sarong pencil dress with a printed pattern of bamboo sticks, pink and purple orchids, and green leaves on a cream coloured background. I bought it last year in the sale but it was from the 2016 summer season. With the Aloha clutch there is definitely a bit of tiki here.

Ich liebe das kitschige Topisch-Exotische Thema. Heute gibt es ein schmalgeschnittenes Sarongkleid mit einem Muster aus Bambusstöcken, pinke und lilane Orchideen, und grünen Blätter auf einem cremefarbenen Untergrund. Ich habe das Kleid letztes Jahr im Sale gekauft, aber es ist aus der 2016er Sommer-Kollektion. Mit der Aloha-Clutch ist da definitif mehr als ein Hauch Tiki involviert.

The palm leaf clamper brooch and the ombre sunnies are second hand. The bamboo brooch ist vintage – hard to tell how old it is and if it is glass or jade.

Der Klapp-Armreif und die Sonnenbrille sind Second Hand. Die Bambusbrosche ist älter, allerdings ist es schwer zu sagen wie alt und ob aus Glas oder Jade.

The clutch was actually sold as a a toilettery bag and on this blog before.

Die Clutch wurde eigentlich als „Waschbeutel“ verkauft und war auch schon mal hier zu sehen.

Welcome back to a month of tropical delight and a touch of tiki. This jumpsuit is one of my favourites at home. Comfy, breezy and it still looks quite elegant. I paired it today with some bamboo bangles, my pineapple jewellry and pointy leopard print flats.

Willkommen zurück zu einem Monat Tropisch Exotisch – mit einem Hauch von Tiki. Der Jumpsuit gehört zu meinen Lieblingsteilen für zuhause. Bequem, luftig und trotzdem richtig schick. Dazu trage ich Bambus Armreifen, meinen Ananas-Schmuck und flache, spitze Leoschuhe.
