Christmas Party Dress – Pretty in Tulle

Another merry Christmas outfit. For the office party. I will actually wear this today. Possibly with a different fascinator though. I have admired those frothy ChiChi London tulle and lace dresses and skirts since I first saw one on Curvy Claudia’s blog.

A few months ago I gave this black beauty a try that awed mo on Big or not to Big. Well, it didn’t swipe me off my feet in front of the mirror. I didn’t like the glittery lace. So off it went again.
Also ging es wieder zurück.
And then I saw this on ModCloth. No glitter. Tone in tone. That darkish teal so indecisive between green and blue.
Ton in Tone. If I can I avoid ordering from the states. Such a hustle: import taxes, sometimes even custom charges, having to go to customs and obviously the shipping isn’t cheap either. And ChiChi London is (like the name suggests) from the UK. And they are still in the EU.
The dress was on sale for Black Friday plus another 10% for signing up the newsletter. Shipping was free too. Like with many dresses from the UK, the waist sits about 2 inches too high. I like to dress it down a little – with the cardi and the tartan blanket scarf.

Fancy Friday: PinUp Girl Clothing Outfit – Glamour in Green

This dress hung forever and a day in my closet since my birthday in May. Somehow there never quite was the time to show it off. It would make an amazing New Years Eve outfit. That is if I went to a party. And personally if I wasn’t the only female single present, too. This beauty from PinUp-Girl-Clothing is spectacular. Check out their plus size range – you get the most glorious dresses (and other things) from sultry to sweet.

The cleavage of the fabulous Ava is impressive and a bit too revealing for my taste (though I am sure there would be no complains from the Gentlemen). That green brings out the very best in my colouring. Even my mum was gobsmacked, so was a guy who just wanted to pick up his pants from my taylor (had the hem shortened by quite a bit).Miss Kittenheel vintage plussize style PinUp Girl Clothing PUG Ava Green Wiggle Satin

So here I am standing next to my wonderful 1930s repliqua bar cart and pretend to be the hostess with the mostess. The Jewellry is more sparkly than the detail pic lets on and the fascinator is reclaimed fur. Reclaimed fur? It was a vintage hat (and scarf set), but like so many of the era too small and in a style I find rather dowdy on me. So I kept the scarf and turned the hat into this little millinery confection. I have worn it before here.

The necklace reminds me of the 1950s kitsch film series „Sissi“ – oringinally hair ornaments like here.

On the Go: Fiesta Latina

I love motto parties. Or dressing up. Yesterday was a party at the square in front of the town hall with Latin music. Danced a little, met new people. Good fun.

Work to Play

One of these days – not enough time to change when you go out on a Friday night. So you put something on that makes it easily from day into night. You put some heels into your  handbag and put on a dress like the Saturday Night Thrive Dress from Modcloth.

Before I ordered I actually read through most of the customers reviews (currently  about 170) and was in a slight dilemma. Stuck between sizes. I opted for the larger one. It is easier to take a garnment in, that make it larger (or yourself smaller). So when I retrieved the dress from customs I was gutted. The top bit was indeed a wonky fit. And after a few rounds with half a ton of safety pins, I realised no belt or seamstress can make easily make it give that tailored look on me. Bugger!

And then I took out that wrap blouse, that got neglected for quite a while. Loved it on the spot. This was my dress! It even comes with pockets – yayh!

This is the work look. Flats, arm warmers, another scarf and no make-up. The dress looks purple – but it has a black base. The left bottom picture shows the real colours.

Bingo!
