Bet Ditto’s Trunk Show
Some of you might have already seen pics from Luciana from LuZiehtAn or Anna from NoSkinnyBitches at Beth Ditto’s trunk show in Berlin. Saw the pics from Berlin and thought how totally awesome. Wait a second the event in Paris is on a Saturday? This Saturday? I signed up for the event and booked the bus. Was busy at work and went for a bike ride so I realised on Friday after 7pm that I actually got an invite after all. Too late to get to that bus. Then I checked and I booked myself on the early train. I had 12 hours for Pairs, as the night bus left at eleven with an hour before to chekc in. Einige von Euch haben bereits sicherlich die Bilder von LuZiehtAn oder von Anna von NoSkinnyBitches bei Beth Dittos Trunk Show in Berlin gesehen. Als ich die Bilder von Berlin sah, dachte ich wow, wie toll. Und dann sah ich es gab noch einen Termin, Samstags, in Paris. Moment – diesen Samstag? Also hab eich mich dafür angemeldet und Bus tickets gebucht. Irgendwie ist mir am Freitag wegen eines Termins die Bestätigungsemail durchgegangen und war dann noch direkt nach der Arbeit mit dem Rad unterwegs. Als ich meien Einladung sah, war es für den Bus zu spät. Hmmm, der war zum Glück nicht sehr teuer. Dann habe ich mir spontan ein Zugticket für die erste Fahrt nach Paris gekauft. Ich hatte insgesamt ca. 12 Stunden in Paris bevor ich dann brav meinen Nachbus nach hause genommen habe.
Playing dress up with Beth Ditto – Verkleiden spielen mit Beth Ditto
Location was the very stylish Hotel Le Royal Monceau, near the Arc de Triomphe. I love my interiors, too and I was drooling before I even set my eyes on Beth Ditto’s collection. It was a small event, all the more I am excited too have been there. Beth was super nice and very excited herself. I can understand that part very much actually and that totally depends on your personality. It is amazing to see the things you imagined in person and touch them. But as a landscape architect my stuff looks only different in the season and daytime, in different weather. But clothing looks different on everybody.
Eingeladen waren wir Beth im stylischen Hotel Le Royal Monceau zu besuchen, quasi um die Ecke des Triumphbogens. Ich liebe Interieurs und war schon ganz begeistert noch bevor ich überhaupt die ersten Kleider der Beth Ditto Kollektion sah. Es war ein kleines Event, um so mehr bin ich froh, dass ich dann noch eine Einladung bekam, bzw. hingefahren bin. Beth war super nett und selber auch sehr sehr aufgeregt. Den Teil kann ich gut nachvollziehen, ist natürlich auch persönlichkeitsbedingt. Es ist einfach grossartig wenn man die Dinge, die man im Kopf hat anfassen kann. Als Landschaftsarchitektin sehen meine Schöpfungen mist nur je nach Wetter, Tages- oder Jahreszeit unterschiedlich aus. Kleidung aber sieht an jedem anders aus.
We were asked which things we anted to try on when we signed up. For me it was the Lola dress. That Lola dress with the Lipstick print is sooo me. The print is lovely, the colours flattering. And now I hear you BUT? But I wanted something I can also wear to meetings or council sessions when I feel a bit daring. Wait a second. Daring? No cleavage, not only from the front it just accentuates my body shape extremely nicely. I was amazed because I saw that dress on a few body shapes and it worked for all of us.
Bei der Anmeldung konnte man angeben was man bevorzugt anprobieren würde. Für mich war das das Lola Kleid. Besonders das mit dem Lippenstiftdruck. Das bin einfach so ich. Der Druck ist einfach toll, die Farben ein Traum. Und höre ich ein ABER? Aber ich wollte die Tage noch etwas das ich auch zu Besprechungen und Ratssitzungen anziehen kann. Zumindest wenn ich dafür „die Eier“ habe. Wie jetzt – Schisshase? Es hat doch keinen Ausschnitt und nicht nur von vorne betont es meine Rundungen ganz vorzüglich. Ich war erstaunt, denn ich habe dieses Kleid an einigen Körperformen gesehen und es funktionierte an uns allen ganz hervorragend.

The beauty is in the detail. It is rouched and gathered to bring out a waist. The big pockets help even if the waist isn’t much smaller than the hips. It works with big hips and with small hips. Actually it comes close to what I’d call a wonder dress. The rouching in the back is totally awesome. Hence the daring bit. It makes a great butt. Sure it doesn’t make it any smaller but it frames it. The rouching celebrates the size and makes it a feature. I can still hear Beth roar look at that butt. And all of us looked spectacular in it. In case you wonder which one you should get and the prospect truly terrifies you – take the lipstick one. With that pattern the rouching is hardest to recognize. But then you have a stand out print.
Der Teufel steckt im detail. Es ist gerafft und zusammengefasst um die Taille zu betonen, oder zu schaffen. Die grossen Taschen helfen auch wenn die Taille nicht viel schmaler als die Hüfte ist. Es funktioniert aber auch sowohl mit breiten als mit schmalen Hüften. Ein echtes Zauberkleid. Die Raffungen am Hintern sind einfach grossartig, Deswegen auch der mutige Teil. Die Raffungen inszenieren, die kaschieren nicht. Sie machen den Hintern nicht schmaler, aber darfür einen grossartigen Ar… ehhh Rückenansicht. Einfach episch. Ich höre Beth immer noch röhren „Look at that butt“ – seht Euch diesen Arsch/ diese Ärsche an. Es sah an allen von uns einfach phänomenal aus. Solltet ihr euch den Kauf überlegen und das euch total verunsichern, nehmt das Lippenstiftkleid. Bei dem Druck sind die rückseitigen Raffungen am schwersten auszumachen. Dafür hat man aber ein sehr auffälliges Muster!
So I didn’t wear the other things. „Just“ the Lola dress in all its great colours. The dove grey wasn’t me (and that why there are no pics). If you are a darker type, either with your hair or skin tone – the dove grey is a stunner. It looked great on Stéphanie Zwicky but most amazing on Gaëlle Prudencio.
Ich habe mich in Lola so wohl gefühlt, ich habe gar nicht die anderen tollen Sachen anprobiert. Nur Lola in allen drei Farben. Die graue Version war an mir nicht so der Hit (und deswegen gibt es da auch keine Bilder von). Es sah grossartig an Stéphanie Zwicky aus, aber am besten hatte mir Gaëlle Prudencio darin gefallen.
The lipstick print is übergorgeous but I already have so many novelty prints. Even Beth laughed when I showed her a pic of my closet and said, well for you the black is the unusual choice. It is so classy. Strict and yet not looking like uptight bitch. Sexy and but fully clothed. Not exactly modest despite of the little amount of skin it flaunts.
Der Lippenstift-Print ist einfach wunderschön. Aber ich habe schon so viele gemusterte Kleider. Sogar Beth hat gelacht, als ich ihr ein Bild von meinem Schrank gezeigt hatte und meinte für mich ist das Schwarze die ungewöhnliche Wahl. Recht hat sie! Es ist einfach super elegant und edel. Streng und doch nicht vertrocknet. Sexy, aber völlig bekleidet. Nicht gerade was für Mauerblümchen, auch wenn es keine Haut zeigt.
There is a huge discussion on the prices, yes they don’t come cheap. Especially since usually there are custom fees and import taxes for us Europeans too. Also a reason for me to sponanteously go to Paris. I could try on the stuff. Touch it. In the end I went for the sensible black one. But I know how the lipstick one looked on me. And I have the pics. It was gorgeous. I only pine for it a little bit. I so wanted both.
Es gibt leider und auch verständlicherweise eine grosse Diskussion wegen der Preise. Denn die Kollektion ist nicht billig. Zumal die meisten von uns in Europa auch noch Zollgebühren und Einfuhrsteuern zahlen müssen. Für mich mit ein Grund nach Paris zu fahren. Da konnte ich die Sachen vorher anprobieren. Anfassen. Am Ende habe ich mich für die vernünftige Wahl in schwarz entschieden. Aber ich weiss wie das Lippenstiftkleid an mir aussah. Und ich habe die Bilder. Es war toll. Es tut mir nur ein bisschen leid, das ich es nicht auch noch gekauft habe, denn eigentlich wollte ich beide.
Lola has a lovely vintage touch and reminds me a bit of this 1950s Dior dress.
The next collection is trying to have somewhat lower prices. The materials were excellent though. the patterns very unique and nicely worked with and the designs good. Overpriced? No. Expensive. Unfortunately. But everything was made in New York. No cheap sweat shops. And that too comes at a price. As my mum frequently says – you can’t have it all.
Die nächste Kollektion soll dann auch etwas moderatere Peise haben. Die Materialien waren hervorragend, die Muster sehr besonders und einfach toll abgestimmt und schön und das Gesamtdesign eine Freude. Überteuert? Nein. Teuer? Leider. Aber alles wurde in New York, in den Staaten hergestellt. Keine Billigproduktionen. Und das hat seinen Preis. Wie meine Ma gerne sagt, man kan nnicht alles haben.
The Corset T-Shirt
Even the shirt I didn’t like – the Gaultier one – wowed me. It used to remind me only of the exprecssion „in every fat girl is a thin girl who wants to come out“. It still does – but like one of these pictures there you see the old crone and the dahing beauty more or less at once, the girls uptake on that dress changed my perception, too. I now see both. I also see the fun of it. The playfulness. She won me over.
Sogar das T-Shirt, dass ich gar nicht mochte – das von Gaultier hat mich positiv überrascht. Es erinnerte mich vorher nur an den Ausdruck „in jeder Dicke steckt eine Dünne, die befreit werden möchte“. Nun, daran erinnert es mich immer noch – aber wie bei einem dieser Vexierbilder sehe ich nun beides – die alte Frau und die elegante junge Dame. Die Interpretation der Mädels hat meine Wahrnehmung verändert. Jetzt sehe ich auch das Verspielte, das Unbeschwerte.
I am still super excited and I wonder if I’ll end up on German TV. RTL exclusiv came for a special on the collection. I had soo much fun with Beth, her team and the French bloggers and other guests. Such a great atmosphere. It was amazing to meet Beth Ditto. She is gorgeous, funny, bubbly, curious, intersted, full of life. She is a stunner. I loved her body positive attitude since her first collection for Evans (and my cardi) but it was great to meet her in person. I am knackered now, but happy. I’d do that any time again. I guess I am a bit star struck now after all!
Ich bin immer noch recht aufgekratzt und komme vielleicht noch ins deutsche Fernsehen. RTL exklusiv war da und hat ein Special für die Kollektion gefilmt. Ich hatte wahnsinnig viel Spass mit Bet, ihrem Team und den Französichen Bloggerinnen und den anderen Gästen. Es war wunderbar Beth Ditto zu treffen. Sie grossartig, lustig, neugierig, interessiert, lebhaft. Einfach eine Wucht. Ich mag seit Jahren ihre Haltung ihrem Körper und Gewicht gegenüber und liebe auch meine Strickjacke aus ihrer Evans Kollektion. Ich bin ziemlich erschöpft, aber das war es wert. Und vielleicht bin ich jetzt doch ein klein wenig „star struck“.
