Berlin FashionWeek: Day1 Curvy (is sexy)

Der Modezirkus ist wieder in der Hauptstadt. Und ich bin dabei. Heute erstmal ganz piano bei der Curvy (vormals Curvy ist Sexy). Da war ich auch schon im Juli 2015. Es gab Dinge, die ich mochte, Dinge die ich nicht mochte und genug, die mir herzlich egal waren. Die Messe fühlte sich etwas an, als wäre die Luft raus. Ich mag auch den Teil der komplett eigenen Location nicht, sondern lieber als als Teil der allgemeinen Messe. Das schaue ich mir dann mal morgen an (oder verschaffe mir zumindest einen Einblick 🙂

The circus has come to town. More precisely the fahion circus to the (Germany) capitol. And so did I. First day was an easy one at the Curvy (used to be Curvy is sexy). I was there before in July 2015. It wasn’t that exciting or breathtaking then, Nor was it today. There were things I liked, things I didn’t and plenty I didn’t care about. I am not very fond of having an „own“ fair for plussize – I wish it was part of the regular fair (wich I’ll check out tomorrow – or at least have a dab).

Not the most flattering pics – but the fabulous Anna Scholz was so full of live (and moving fast) when she talked about her latest collection for sheego – lots of 60s/ 70s boho vibes.

I don’t use the term an inspiring women (or human) easily, but she is. Anna looks as fab as her collection (and in her latest collection). So here is me beside her a bit star struck and looking not at my best (but who cares).

DIY your Closet: Blackberry Fascinator – Mohair Hütchen

Last Sunday Katha from Kathastrophal posted a new project „DIY your closet“ she organises with Mein Feenstaub. The idea is to show selfmade, crafted or upcycled clothing or accessories. I wanted to sew my own clothes for a very long time. But with my work as a landscape architect and a mandate in council plus blogging as Miss Kittenheel there is not enough time to take a class. But I like hats and I found out I quite enjoy making fascinators. Making a fascinator doesn’t take ages and handstitching is fine. This pretty little thing is an addition to my winter outfits.

Letzten Sonntag hat Katha von Kathastrophal mit Mein Feenstaub ein neues Projekt „DIY your closet“ vorgestellt. Dabei geht es darum sebstgenähtes, -gemachtes oder upgecycletes. Seit einigen Jahren würde ich gerne einen Nähkurs machen, aber zwischen der Landschaftsarchitektur, also meinem Beruf, meinem Mandat im Stadtrat und der Kommunalpolitik plus bloggen für Miss Kittenheel bleibt einfach nicht genug Zeit für einen Nähkurs. Aber ich mag Hüte und es macht mir Spass meine eigenen Fascinators zu machen. Ein Hütchen zu machen dauert nicht lange und lässt sich einfach von Hand nähen. Dieses hier ist eine gute Ergänzung für meine Winteroutfits.

You don’t need lots of things to make a fascinator: scissors, a needle, matching thread, needle threader (at least I do), pins and depending on the materials a thimble.
Man braucht nicht viel um einen Fascinator zu machen: Schere(n), eine Nadel, passender Faden, eine Einfädelhilfe (also ich brauche den zumindest), Stecknadeln und je nach Material auch ein Fingerhut.

I prefer to use a sinamay to a felt one – it is easier to get the needle through.
Ich bevorzuge eine Basis aus Sinamay gegenüber einer aus Filz – es ist auch einfacher da die Nähnadel durchzubekommen.

This fascinator’s material is from a reclaimed mohair cap from the 1950s or 1960s which I cut in pices. You mount it with lining and pin it on a base and handstitch it. The little bow is a hair bop from H&M and the blackberries are from a vintage millinery supply via eBay.
Das Material dieses Fascinators ist eine alte Mohair-Kappe aus den 1950/1960gern. Ich habe daraus einen Kreis ausgeschnitten und das mit dem Volumenvlies auf der Sinamay-Basis mit Stecknadeln aufgezogen und habe es handvernäht. Die kleine Schleife ist eine Haarklammer von H&M und die Brombeeren sind Vintage-Hutbedarf, die ich über eBay bezogen habe.

Call me lazy but I acutally use safety pins to attach the headband. It also has the advantage that you can readjust them if you want to weat it slightly different.
Vielleicht bin ich faul – aber ich benutze immer nur Sicherheitsnadeln um das Haarband zu befestigen. So kann man auch im Nachhinein noch die Passform etwas anpassen.

No outfit shown with this one – you’ll see that in less than two weeks. It’ll be one of the ones I’ll wear in Berlin for the Curvy and the Fashion Week.
Diesmal gibt es kein Outfit dazu – das seht ihr in weniger als zwei Wochen. Dieses Hütchen gehört zu denen die ich mit nach Berlin zur Fashion Week zur Curvy nehme.

Eigentlich wollte ich seit Dienstag Abend einen neuen Blogpost für Miss Kittenheel fertig machen, die Bilder stehen – aber ich kann gerade nicht über meine Hütchen des Jahres schreiben während mir die Hutschnur platzt. Mit den Übergriffen in Köln tue ich mich schwer genug – die Nachlese mit Verhaltensregeln für Frauen bringt mich seit Tagen in Rage. Eine Endlosschleife der Wut aus der mich weder schöne Bilder auf Instagram noch mein Blog herausholen.

#eineArmlänge am Arsch – das ist #VictimBlaming

Ich kenne den (Kölner) Karneval und seine Schattenseiten, ich lebe neben einem Ausgehviertel im Pott. Die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema Vergewaltigung und sexuelle Übergriffe ist für mich kein Neuland. Aber diese Vehemenz ist alarmierend. Wir müssen als Gesellschaft zeigen das ein solches Verhalten nicht tragbar ist. Frauen sind kein Freiwild. Nirgends. Egal von wem, ohne Entschuldigung. Nein heißt Nein! Wir haben ein Anrecht auf den öffentlichen Raum. Alleine. Im Minirock oder mit Kopftuch. Unabhängig davon welche Hautfarbe oder Sozialisierung wir haben. Der marodierenden (Klein-)gruppe wie am Kölner HBF ist, im Gegensatz zum Einzeltäter, kaum durch selbstbewusstes Auftreten, einem Selbstverteidigungskurs oder der neuen Maßeinheit der kölschen Armlänge beizukommen.

An dem Silvesterabend in Köln wurden mitunter anscheinend sowohl Polizei als auch Passanten zum Teil daran gehindert den Frauen zu Hilfe zu kommen. Das ist etwas was ich aus eigener Erfahrung bis jetzt nicht aus dem Karneval kenne. Als sich mir mal zu Karneval ein sternhagelvoller Engländer gegen meinen Willen und vergebliche aber vehemente Gegenwehr in mein Dekolleté stürzte, waren es seine Freunde die ihn von mir wegzerrten. Sie zerrten ihn von mir weg und haben nicht meine Freunde oder andere daran gehindert mir zu helfen. Sie haben ihn nicht angefeuert. Für diese Jungs war ich keine Schlampe, die es nicht besser verdient hatte, weil ich feiern war, weil der Ausschnitt tief war. Nein, ER, ihr Freund war ihnen zu entgleist. Zu peinlich um es wie einen beiläufigen Klaps auf den Hintern zu ignorieren.

Ich bin wütend und besorgt. Ich werde sehen was ich hier vor Ort in Bochum selber tun kann damit sich nicht nur solche Massen-Delikte wie in Köln am Silvesterabend in meiner Stadt nicht wiederholen, oder uns wenigstens nicht unvorbereitet überrollen. Übergriffe wie beim Oktoberfest als Brauchtum abzutun ist nicht mein Ding und ebnet Angriffen im öffentlichen Raum den Weg. Sensibilisierung, Anlaufstellen und Krisenmanagement können dem entgegensteuern. Deswegen ist mir (m)ein Antrag für die nächste Ratssitzung momentan wichtiger als eine Jahresschau meiner Hütchen. Die Hütchen können ein paar Tage warten. Politik braucht Zeit und (leider) immer wieder einen #Aufschrei.

For a few years I hoped this one will be a bit more quiet. I’ll try to make a start with my dresses. Though I love my novelty prints, they make it tricky to combine them with accessories to give them different looks. Still, you’ll see a few more of these prints this year, too – flamingos, dogs and hopefully cowgirls.

Seit einigen Jahren hoffe ich immer das das nächste ruhiger wird. Dieses Jahr fange ich zumindest mit meinen Kleidern an. Auch wenn ich auf meine „Novelty Prints“ – tja, wie nennt man die auf Deutsch – graphische Muster trifft es nicht ganz – also meine Hunde-/ Katzen- und Landschaftsmuster – nicht verzichten mag, sind sie schwierig mit anderen Accessoires zu neuen Looks zu kombinieren.

Another Party Outfit – nochmal Silvester

Just a quick one – before I must dash off to take my train – recently I bought this lovely Kiyonna dress from Birgit from Charming Curves. You might have seen it on Katha from Kathasptrophal here. What I love about it is a perfect travel dress. Roll it into a ball, shake it out and you are ready for anything from a noce dinner to a formal occasion. As a seasoned traveller that is always a plus. Great colour, too. Here combined with a pink scarf I was allowed to chose from Navabi and pink heels with cute shoe clips from Alternate Normailty The headband (not really a fascinator) is vintage from the 1950s.

So, bevor ich gleich zu meinem Zug muss noch ein weiteres Silvester Outfit. Dieses Kiyonna-Kleid habe ich von Birgit von Charming Curves. Ihr hab es vielleicht auch schon hier an Katha von Kathastrophal gesehen. Es ist ein perfektes Reisekleid, knüddeln, ausschütteln und Cinderella ist fertig für den Ball – oder besser für alles vom Dinner bis zum formalem Empfang. Tolle Farbe. Hier kombiniert mit einer pinken Stola, die ich mir bei Navabi aussuchen durfte und pinken Schuhen, die ich mit einem Schuhclip von Alternate Normality verziert habe.

Stay warm – kurz und knapp: Collectif Clothing Jacket

Ok, though this winter is lacking somewhat around here in cold temperatures – it is time to post this wonderful jacket by Collectif Clothing. I promised that to Froilein Olivia some time ago. Marianne is part of a suit and Hackey Rose’s blogpost is to die for – she has this in pink though. Though I love pink, I thought it would be too sweet and I got this set in green for silly money in the sale. I couldn’t size up the skirt – and that is why you won’t see it on moi (at least for a while). It fits like a glove, or rather as we say in German like a saussage in skin („Wurst in Pelle“). Not an extra layer – but am quite stuffed to the brim. Anyway – it is still a great jacket and looks good and wintery.

The jacket is made with fake fur. Worn here with a vintage (real) fur set. The mini hat is reclaimed mink and was a dowdy cap before I made this fascinator out of it. The brown inlay is a fur brooch, also dating from the 1950s or 1960s.

The parents and I went to the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn – for an art exhibition. Matching the Japanese theme were the decorations in the cafe. Pics inside were not allowed.

#GermanCurves: Mit Schwung (und Cocktails) ins neue Jahr – mein Style für 2016

Dieses Mal ist das Motto für die #GermanCurves „Mit Schwung ins neue Jahr – mein Style für 2016“ – also gibt es jetzt mein Silvester Outfit – das mit den guten Vorsätzen für den Blog kommt dann schwungvoll erst im neuen Jahr. Denn TLDR (TooLongDidn’tRead – quasi zu lang zum Lesen) ist auch doof. Soviel vorweg – nächstes Jahr kommen: mehr Hüte, mehr Hosen, mehr Business. Crazy Muster bleiben. Wollte die zwar etwas reduzieren – aber beim ersten Anlauf hat das noch nicht so ganz geklappt. Habe mir prompt das schöne Weihnachtskleid, das Megabambi neulich gezeigt hatte bestellt – ok, und was mit Flamingos. Weil: kostete das ja gleiche Porto 😉

Heute: Cocktails mit Schwung

In mein heutiges Kleid habe ich mich verliebt als LindyBop einen kleinen Schnipsel davon hier zeigte. Ohaaa. Meins! Oder? Es hat auch „nur“ zwei Monate gedauert bis es dann auf die Webseite kam (gibt es auch in schmal geschnitten). Wenn das nicht (Silvester) Party ruft…

So, mein Hütchen ist auch mal wieder selber gemacht – mir gefiel ein Glitzer-Top bei H&M sehr gut – aber nicht nur saß es etwas (hüstel) spack – Lurex und ich werden wohl in diesem Leben keine Freunde mehr, denn bei mir kratzte das wie verrückt – ich vertrage auch Wolle aus den gleichen Gründen schlecht (leider). Tjoa – es hatte allerdings doch sooo schön geglitzert. Für den Preis habe ich dann beschlossen es nicht umzutauschen, sondern einen Satz Fascinator daraus zu machen – für meine Runde zu Silvester. Einer von vieren ist auch schon fertig. Nur die Katzenbrosche für Pam kommt wohl nicht mehr rechtzeitig.

This time #GermanCurves are under the motto „Full of Verve into the New Year – my Outfit for 2016„. For now you’ll get my New Year’s Eve Outfit – the resolutions will follow early next year. TLDR (TooLongDidn’tRead – for those of you who struggle with acronyms) is never good or helpful. So much for now: more hats, more pants, more business. „Crazy“ or rather novelty pattens remain. I planned to tone them down a bit – but that didn’t quite work out as planned when Megabambi showed this pretty festive dress, ok – so I also ordered for the same postage the one with the flamingos – guilty as charged!

Today: Cocktails full of Verve

I fell in love with today’s dress when LindyBop posted a snippet here. Ohhhhhh. My precious! Don’t you think? It „only“ took two months to become available on site (you can get a wiggle version, too). If this doesn’t scream (New Year’s Eve) Party – I don’t know…

Ohhhh, flache Shuhe und da es momentan ungewöhnlich warm ist, reicht wahrscheinlich das karierte Tuch um das Feuerwerk zu bestaunen (und anzuzünden)!
Ohhhh – flat shoes and since it’s war I might get away with the plaid scarf to watch (and light) the fireworks!

Anyway, the fascinator is once more made by moi. I really liked a sparkling top at H&M. However not only was that a bit tight (coughing dicretely here) but also itched like hell (not one for pure wool einther – sigh). But it was sooo sparkly. Not one to sneer at glitter I decided to keep it and turn it in to fascinators for the gals and me for NYE. One of four is already done. Only the adorning cat brooch for Pam won’t make it in time.

Christmas Sweater Girl – mein Weihnachtspullover

A classic in the Anglo-American wardrobe it into my closet – my very own Christmas Sweater from Collectif Clothing (also available in Brown). Topvintage also has these, but like with quite a few of their items not up to my size – which is a whopping 4XL.

Dieses klassische Kleidungsstück aus dem Anglo-Amerikanischen Raum hat es dieses Jahr auch in meinen Schrank geschafft – der Weihnachtpullover. In diesem Fall Chrissie Deer von Collectif Clothing (den gibt es auch in Braun). Topvintage hat die auch im Angebot, aber wie öfters nicht bis in meine Grösse (4XL).

French Curves: Strass et Paillettes

Dommage, j’ai ni jupe ou robe de paillettes. Et j’ai aimé bien un ou l’autre en or. Ce que j’ai dans ma garde-robe est ce petit pull-over noir avec noeud de paillettes en noir et gris. Mon look est pour un peu de brillance pour la vie quotidienne, pour une date, pour le nouvel an ou Noël entre amis ou la famille. La jupe est du tweed et velours. J’aime bien la combinaison des matériaux grossiers avec les paillettes ou l’argent des collants baroques.

Bugger, I neither have a sequin skirt or dress. And I’d like to have the one or the other. What I do have in my wardrobe is this little jumper with a black and grey sequin bow. My look brings a bit of sparkle into everyday life, to a date, a relaxed Christmas with the family or New Year’s Eve with friends. The skirt is tweed with flocked on velvet. I love to mix materials, especially the coarse tweed with the shiny sequins or the silver glittering baroque tights.

Schade, ich habe weder Paillettenkleid noch -rock. Und eigentlich fehlt meiner Garderobe auch das eine oder andere. Was ich aber darin finden kann, ist der kleine Pullover mit der bestickten Paillettenschleife in schwarz und grau. Mein Outfit bringt etwas Glanz in den Alltag, für ein Date, zu Weihnachten mit der Familie oder Silvester mit Freunden. Der Rock ist aus Tweed, mit Samt bepflockt. Ich mag es Materialien zu mixen, besonders den eher groben Tweed mit den glitzernden Pailletten oder der silber schimmernden Barockstrumpfhose.

Alpengrün – another Christmas-Outfit

Yep, another Christmas outfit – from LindyBop. Unlike the #LindyBauble with the red checks or the #LindyMail with the mini black gingham dresses this is like my Bernie Dexter Winterwonderland dress a proper themed one. It sold out really quickly. No surprise it is lovely, not too much kitsch and the price was great, too. I think that works pretty nicely after Christmas as a winter dress, too. It even adds a touch of chalet romance to my flat.

Und noch ein Weihnachtsoutfit – nimmt das denn gar kein Ende? Doch ja – Ende nächster Woche 😉 Im Gegensatz zu dem Kleid mit den roten Karos aus #LindyBauble oder dem aus #LindyMail mit den schwarzen Vichy-Karo ist das hier ein richtiges Weihnachtskleid – wie Bernie Dexters Winterwonderland. Leider war das Kleid superschnell ausverkauft. Wenig überraschend, es ist charmant, nicht zuviel Kitsch und hatte auch einen guten Preis. Ich finde das Kleid kann auch noch gut nach Weihnachten getragen werden – als Winterkleid. Da bekommt selbst meine Wohnung etwas Hüttenzauber.

I only wish the Alps were a bit higher up so that 1-2 inches could be taken off the hem. This really riles me with the Hell Bunny Christmas dress, too – even worse with that one – if you take the hem in Bambi gets its‘ legs chopped off. Lindy Bop hat three items in the Alpine collection – my dress, a twin set and a skirt.
Ich wünschte mir die Alpen lägen etwas höher damit der Saum um 3-5cm eingekürzt werden kann. Das finde ich einfach nur ärgerlich. Ebenso beim Hell Bunny Weihnachtskleid – da ist es noch ungeschickter – lässt man das Kleid kürzen, hat Bambi keine Füsse mehr. LindyBop hatte drei Teile in der Alpen-Kollektion – mein Kleid, ein Twin Set und einen Rock.

Kein alter Hut, sondern ein Vintage-Muff – als Gestgeberin hat man meist keine Handtasche dabei, aber wäre es kalt und ich müsste raus – das wäre meine Wahl.
