Le septembre est pour moi le mois d’Oktoberfest. Mais le style bavarois est en général présenté super doux. Trop traditionnel. Pour moi malheureusement sans humeur. Trop directement du magasin. Sans ajouter des touches personnel.
September is for me the month of Octoberfest. The Bavarian style is in general presented as too sickly sweet. Too traditional. Unfortunately too often straight out of the shop. Without adding personal touches. There isn’t enough humour, a pinch of salt.
Voilà mon look fun. Pour la foire. Le grand rouleau. Un sac traditionnel. Un jupe rétro avec un tablier d’un écharpe bavarois.
Here is my fun look. For the fairground. For the ferris wheel. With a very traditional handbag. With a retro skirts using a scarf as an apron.
J’adore le tshirt de message et je le déteste. Une relation ambivalente. J’ai eu des shirts comme „I wanted to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkling“ (j’aimerais de conquérer le monde mais quelque chose brillant m’a distrait.) Et j’ai encore le shirt „diamonds are a girl’s best friend“ mais je préfère des vraies amis au pierres précieuses.
I adult Immortal t-shirt as much as I hate it. It is an ambivalent relationship. I had shirts like „I wanted to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkling“. And I still have the shirt „Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend“ although I think real friends are better than precious stones.

September is Dirndl time on my blog. An entire month to have a dab at traditions with a twist and a sip of vintage – time for Oktoberfest Craze. Traditions are fine but the world is and was constantly changing. It helps to add a little fun. September ist Dirndlzeit auf meinem Blog – Zeit für etwas Heimatliebe. Ein ganzer Monat um Trachten etwas zu entstauben, mit Augenzwinkern und einem Vintagetouch. Tradition ist schön aber die Welt ändert sich konstant, hat sie immer schon. Es hilft etwas Spass herein zu bringen.
Today you get two looks – based on one piece of clothing. A traditional velvet corsage. Paired with an African Wax skirt from Gaëlle Prudenico’s Ibiloba line and a classical stripey shirt. Heute gibt es zwei Looks auf der Basis eines Kleidungsstücks. Ein traditionelles Trachtenmieder. Einmal mit einem afrikanischem Wachsrock ausGaëlle Prudenicos Ibiloba Kollektion mit einer gestreiften Businessbluse.
The other look is an ecclectic mix: Russian winter princess and a touch of British tweed – the pics were taken in mid Wales. Der andere Look ist eine Mischung aus russischer Winterprinzessin mit etwas britischem Tweed – aufgenommen irgendwo in der Mitte von Wales.
The mini doctor bag is vintage and I think I got it even before or shortly after I was twenty. I know I already have it fo rmore than twenty years. The black persian fur bag is also a muff. It is a vintage find I got a few years ago. The traditional basket is more than a hundred years old and from the black forest. It was a present from my aunt to my grandmother. Die kleine Arzttasche ist Vintage und ich habe seit über 20 Jahren. Entweder vor oder nach meinem zwanzigsten Geburtstag – genau weiss ich das aber nicht mehr. Die schwarze Persianertasche ist auch ein altes Schätzchen und ist auch noch ein Muff. Das Trachtenkörbchen ist über 100 Jahre alt und aus dem Schwarzwald. Es war ein Geschenk meiner Tante, die im Glottertal gelebt hat an meine Oma.

When Dolly and Dotty approached me to feature one of their dresses I was very excited. They are a vintage reprodutction brand and my style is vintage and due to my size reproduction for anything apart from accessories. It was tough to pick only one dress – this stripey one caught my eye and this white one would have been an excellent choice to wear to that All White Party at the last Plussize Fashion Days in Hamburg (couldn’t go because of work). I also liked this one with coral – reminds me of a day by the sea side. But there was one in red Tartan, actually two – a v-neck one and this one with the bateau neckline.
Tartan isn’t just wonderful for Christmas (just look at Betty Pamper and her pug Mr. Truffles), it is good all year round. Especially for work. Though this isn’t really a work outfit.
The Sound of Music has a Highland Fling
Almost ten years ago when I lived in the UK I fell in love with Trachten – our German traditional clothing. Most of that is alpine inspired and more a regional thing southern Germany shares with Austria and Switzerland rather than the north. I love the materials – rich wools or felts (though I struggle to wear them), colourful scarves (with or without fringes) and quite often intricate embroidery on Dirndls, jackets or trousers.
So I combined my love for tartans, the Dolly&Dotty dress in Royal Stewart with the alpine look and I really like it. The grey new wool jacket has a traditional cropped style, called Janker in German, the scarf is typical, too. The fascinatoris one of my very own, made by me with vintage tweed and feathers. The traditional style feather hackle was a flea market find. The bag is from Laura Ashley, lovely rough tweed – got it a few years back on eBay, like the vintage tapestry brooches, though I got them more recently.
The dress is made of cotton without stretch. The sizing is according to their charts. Once more I was between sizes. As with most dresses I had the hem shortened and the waist nipped in. I look way too short with a classic midi length and I like to show off my calves. The jacket is a bit on the tight side, hopefully that’ll change next time I feature it here as I need to get a bit more active again. The shoes and tights are dark grey, they look on my screen a bit purple/blue.

German version: Als michDolly and Dottykontaktierten ob ich eines ihrer Kleider auf meiner Seite vorstellen möchte, war ich begeistert. Sie machen Vintage-Repro Kleider und das passt halt einfach. Mein Stil ist auch mehr Repro als Vintage – was daran liegt ,das ich wegen meiner Grösse fast nur Accessoires in den entsprechenden Läden finde. Es fiel mir schwer mich für nur ein Kleid zu entscheiden –dieses Gestreifteist ein Hingucker und das Weisse wäre genau richtig für die All White Partybei den letzten Plus Size Fashion Daysin Hamburg gewesen (leider, leider war das kurz vor Projektabgabe und ich musste im Büro bleiben). Dashier in oder mit Korallewäre genau das Richtige für einen Tag am Meer. Und dann gab es auch noch Tartans, Schottenkaros – in rot. Einmal mitV-Ausschnittund dann das hier mit demU-Boot Ausschnitt.
Tartans sind nicht nur schön zu Weihnachten (wie hier beiBetty Pamperand Mr. Truffles), ich mag sie das ganze Jahr über. Ist auch toll für den Arbeitsalltag, wenn keine grösseren Besprechungen anstehen. Auch wenn das hier in der Kombi kein Bürooutfit ist.

Meine Liebe für Trachten habe ich vor knapp 10 Jahren in England entdeckt. Kaufbare Trachten sind stilistisch meist in den Alpenländern und im Süddeutschen verortet, der Norden spielt jenseits der Fischerhemden eine untergeordnete Rolle. Ich mag die Materialien – die Woll-, Walk- und Lodenstoffe (auch wenn ich die leider kaum vertrage), die bunten Tücher (mit oder ohne Fransen) und die Stickereien, die auf vielen Dirndln, Jacken oder Hosen zu finden sind.

Und so habe ich zwei Richtungen kombiniert, die ich sehr schätze – die Schottenkaros mit dem Dolly&Dotty Kleid in Royal Stewart zur Tracht. Das Ergebnis gefällt mir ausnehmend gut. Der kurze Blazer oder Janker aus grauer Schurwolle ist ein Klassiker der Trachtenmode ebenso wie das bunte, quadratische Tuch. DasHütchenist eines meiner eigenen Designs aus Vintage-Tweed und -Federn. Den Federschmuck habe ich auf dem Flohmarkt gefunden, der zierte wahrscheinlich mal einen Trachtenhut. Die Tasche ist von Laura Ashley, aus grobem Tweed – vor ein paar Jahren auf eBay gefunden, ebenso wie die alten Gobelinbroschen, allerdings sind die noch nicht so lange bei mir. Das Kleid ist aus Baumwolle, ohne Stretch. Die Maßtabelle ist akkurat, aber auch hier war ich mal wieder zwischen zwei Grössen. Wie die meisten meiner Kleider wurde auch das gekürzt und etwas an der Taille eingeholt. Mit einer echten Midi-Länge sehe ich einfach zu kurz aus und ich zeige gerne meine Waden. Der Janker fällt sehr knapp aus, aber ich hoffe das ändert sich bald, denn ich muss wieder etwas aktiver werden. Die Schuhe und Strümpfe sind eigentlich dunkelgrau – auf meinem Monitor kommen sie etwas blau/lila

Yep, another Christmas outfit – from LindyBop. Unlike the #LindyBauble with the red checks or the #LindyMail with the mini black gingham dresses this is like my Bernie Dexter Winterwonderland dress a proper themed one. It sold out really quickly. No surprise it is lovely, not too much kitsch and the price was great, too. I think that works pretty nicely after Christmas as a winter dress, too. It even adds a touch of chalet romance to my flat.
Und noch ein Weihnachtsoutfit – nimmt das denn gar kein Ende? Doch ja – Ende nächster Woche 😉 Im Gegensatz zu dem Kleid mit den roten Karos aus#LindyBaubleoder dem aus #LindyMail mit den schwarzen Vichy-Karo ist das hier ein richtiges Weihnachtskleid – wieBernie Dexters Winterwonderland. Leider war das Kleid superschnell ausverkauft. Wenig überraschend, es ist charmant, nicht zuviel Kitsch und hatte auch einen guten Preis. Ich finde das Kleid kann auch noch gut nach Weihnachten getragen werden – als Winterkleid. Da bekommt selbst meine Wohnung etwas Hüttenzauber.
I only wish the Alps were a bit higher up so that 1-2 inches could be taken off the hem. This really riles me with the Hell Bunny Christmas dress, too – even worse with that one – if you take the hem in Bambi gets its‘ legs chopped off. Lindy Bop hat three items in the Alpine collection – my dress, a twin set and a skirt. Ich wünschte mir die Alpen lägen etwas höher damit der Saum um 3-5cm eingekürzt werden kann. Das finde ich einfach nur ärgerlich. Ebenso beimHell Bunny Weihnachtskleid– da ist es noch ungeschickter – lässt man das Kleid kürzen, hat Bambi keine Füsse mehr. LindyBop hatte drei Teile in der Alpen-Kollektion – mein Kleid, ein Twin Set und einenRock.
Thought this was a perfect match – a traditional vintage scarf and brooch. Ein klassisches Trachtentuch und eine Vintagebrosche runden das Outfit ab.
A vintage muff – as a hostess you normally don’t wear a handbag – but if I’d need one and it was cold outside, I’d take it along. Kein alter Hut, sondern ein Vintage-Muff – als Gestgeberin hat man meist keine Handtasche dabei, aber wäre es kalt und ich müsste raus – das wäre meine Wahl.
