This is the final German Curves contribution this year. And since the year is coming to an end it is getting glamorous and festive. I don’t start December with a Christmas but a party look. A swish party. White and blonde is tried and testet. Even if I am still a bit pinkish on my head.Marilyn Monroe already knew that. Das ist der letzte German Curves Beitrag für dieses Jahr. Und da das Jahr sich dem Ende neigt wird es wieder glamourös und festlich. Ich beginne den Dezember nicht mit einem klassischen Weihnachts- sondern mit einem Partylook. Eine schicke Party. Weiss und Blond ist eine bewährte Kombination. Auch wenn meine Haare immer noch etwas pink sind. Schon Marilyn Monroe hat sehr gerne „weiss“ (creme´oder helle Goldtöne) getragen.

Last year right before Christmas Megabambi showed this charming dress by Silly Old Sea Dog, a British retro label with quirky prints. I ordered it the very same day. It arrived after the new year. But since Christmas returns every year it was just a matter of time to finally show it here on the blog. Letztes Jahr kurz vor Weihnachten hat Megabambi dieses charmante Kleid von Silly Old Sea Dog gezeigt.Silly Old Sea Dog ist ein britisches Retrolabel mit eigenwilligen Mustern. Und ja, ich habe es am gleichen Tag noch bestellt. Natürlich kam es dann erst im neuen Jahr an. Aber da Weihnachten jedes Jahr wieder kommt, war es nur eine Frage der Zeit bis es hier auf den Blog kam.
Pink is fun with the dress – from a few metres away the red and white stripes dresses from the litlle pin ups in the pattern come across as pink. Rosa passt gut zum Kleid – aus ein paar Metern Abstand wirken die Rot-Weiss gestreifen Kleider der Pin-Ups im Muster Rosa.
I got a red clutch but the golden one with the turnable sequins was a much better choice. The back side of the sequins is silver. Such a shiny pretty bag. Ich habe zwar noch eine rote Clutch aber die mit den golden Pailletten war einfach die bessere Wahl. Die Rückseite der Wendepailletten ist silbern. Eine schöne, einfach Glitzertasche.
The erarrings are super kitschy and look like I nicked barbie’s dream house Christmas wreath. I made the fascinator for my lipstick dress for Berlin fashion week this summer. Die Ohrringe sind superkitschig und sehen aus als hätte man den Türkranz von Barbies Traumhaus gemopst. Den Fascinator habe ich diesen Sommer für mein Lippenstiftkleid für die Fashion Week in Berlin gemacht.

Another merry Christmas outfit. For the office party. I will actually wear this today. Possibly with a different fascinator though. I have admired those frothy ChiChi London tulle and lace dresses and skirts since I first saw one on Curvy Claudia’s blog. Ein weiteres festlich fröhliches Weihnachtsoutfit. Für die Weihnachtsfeier im Büro. so werde ich das heute tragen. Vielleicht mit einem anderen Fascinator. Ich habe die Tüllröcke und -kleider von ChiChi London sehr bewundert seit Curvy Claudia diesen Look auf ihrem Blog gezeigt hat.
A few months ago I gave this black beauty a try that awed mo on Big or not to Big. Well, it didn’t swipe me off my feet in front of the mirror. I didn’t like the glittery lace. So off it went again. Vor einigen Monaten habe ich diesen Traum in schwarz an mir getestet – nach dem es mir auf auf dem Blog von Big or not to Big die Sprache verschlagen hat. Nun, an mir fand ich es weniger zauberhaft. Die glitzernde Spitze war überraschenderweise auch gar nicht meins. Also ging es wieder zurück.
And then I saw this on ModCloth. No glitter. Tone in tone. That darkish teal so indecisive between green and blue. Un dann sah ich das hier auf ModCloth. Ton in Tone. In diesem dunklen Petrol, dass so unentschlossen zwischen grün und blau ist.If I can I avoid ordering from the states. Such a hustle: import taxes, sometimes even custom charges, having to go to customs and obviously the shipping isn’t cheap either. And ChiChi London is (like the name suggests) from the UK. And they are still in the EU. Wenn ich es vermeiden kann bestelle ich nichts aus den Staaten. Zu aufwendig: Einfuhrsteuern, mitunter Zollgebühren, zum Zollamt zu müssen und natürlich ist der Versand auch nicht gerade günstig. ChiChi London kommt (wie es der Name vermuten lässt) aus Grossbritannien. Und noch sind die in der EU. The dress was on sale for Black Friday plus another 10% for signing up the newsletter. Shipping was free too. Like with many dresses from the UK, the waist sits about 2 inches too high. I like to dress it down a little – with the cardi and the tartan blanket scarf. Das Kleid war im Sale für den Black Friday – plus nochmal 10% weil ich den Newsletter abonniert habe. Versand war frei. Wie viele Kleider aus England sitzt mal wieder die Taille ca. 4-5cm zu hoch. Ich trage das Kleid lieber etwas alltagstauglicher – die Strickjacke und dem grossen Tartantuch.

I love this dress – the rest of the year it is a stunning wiggle dress with sleeves. But in December I like to wear it with the white fake fur cuffs. Without the fascinator I have worn it to two December council sessions – in 2014 and 2015. Unfortunately not this year – as I was sick that day. Ich liebe dieses Kleid – den Rest des Jahres ist das hier ein wunderbares Bleistiftkleid mit Ärmeln. Aber i Dezember trage ich es gelegentlich gerne mit den weissen Kunstfellmanschetten. Ohne den Fascinator habe ich das Outfit so in der Art 2014 und 2015 zu den Ratssitzungen im Dezember getragen. Dieses Jahr leider nicht. Da war ich krank.
The fake fur cuffs were made from an old fur scarf that I got at a second hand shop. Die Manschetten aus Kunstfell sind aus einem alten Schal gemacht den ich in einem Second-Hand-Laden gefunden habe.
The Clutch is from ASOS. Unfortunately the iPad very nearly doesn’t fit in. Bugger. But I didn’t sent it back because of that. Die Clutch ist von ASOS – leider passt mal wieder ganz, ganz knapp das iPad nicht hinein. Aber deswegen habe ich sie nicht zurück geschickt.
This glitters and sparkles so much – this clutch will be a fun accessory for years to come! Das funkelt und glitzert so sehr – die Clutch wird ein tolles Accessoire für viele Jahre sein.

The little white mink fascinator feels really glam. It always reminds me a bit off powder puffs. Der kleine weisse Nerzfascinator ist sehr glamourös und erinnert mich immer an eine Puderquaste.
The earrings and the sleigh brooch are a good match. So far the only unworn bit is the black bambi. Die Ohrringe und die Schlittenbrosche passen sehr gut zusammen. Bis jetzt ist das einzige, dass ich noch nicht in dieser Weihnachtszeit getragen habe das schwarze Bambi.
The charm bracelet is a long time favourite – I think I got it back in 2004 – together with the Christmas tree earrings. Das Bettelarmband ist schon seit ca. 2004 ein Favorit zur Weihnahtszeit – zusammen mit den Tannenbaum-Ohrringen.

Only a few more days till Christmas. On Thursday we have out office Christmas party. The pics for the outfit are already taken. My final festive outfit for the year will be on Christmas Eve. Un autre mois est passé et c’est encore le temps pour le French Curves. En décembre c’est toujours un peu glamoureux. Aujourd’hui le thème est métallique. Ahhh. J’ai pensé à la jupe d’or d‘Elli de Curvyfashionelli. Et elle m’a la louée. Ces jours je l’achète moi-même. Another month has passed and it is time again for the French Curves. Every December it is a bit more glamorous. Today the theme is metallic. Awwwwww. I thought right away about the golden skirt deom Elli from Curvyfashionelli. And she lend it to me. These days I got my own one.
La jupe est très bien pour Noël, les fêtes et le nouvel an. Elle est super glam. Le décembre est pour moi un mois avec beaucoup des occasions pour la mode festive . Et ça me plaît beaucoup. The skirt is excellent for Christmas, parties and New Year’s Eve. It is super glam. December is for me a month with plenty of occasions for party wear. And I really like that.
Aussi c’est un de nous deux mois les plus sombres dans l’année. Les lumières pour Noel m‘ aide beaucoup. Le janvier est pour moi le plus dur. Mais encore on a les lumières. Et cette jupe est lumineuse aussi. It is also one of the two darkest months of the year. The Christmas lights help me a lot with that. January is the really tough month. But for now there are the lights. And that radiant skirt.
La jupe d’or est matelassé. Laqualite est bien et lourd. The golden skirt is quilted. The quality is nice and heavy.

It is half time before Christmas. Your classic advent calendar has now more open doors than closed ones. The Christmas markets are in full swing. Even I already had two mulled wines this year. And they do that rather well. These two are a pleasure to watch and I like that not everybody gets the same look once they are done. I quite like my body shape as a whole – I got a classic hourglass figure. Ich mag meinen Figurtyp – ich bin eine klassische Sanduhr.
I like my calves and ankles. Hence the skirts and dresses and the hemline. Ich mag meine Waden und Knöchel. Daher auch die Röcke und Kleider und die Saumlänge.
I like my waist. My cleavage too – but I use that sparsely. Usually I cover it up. Ich mag meine Taille. Mein Dekollete auch – nur meist halte ich das bedeckt.
Those boots surely are show stoppers. They are my own farewell present to Manchester. When I walked into the Duo-Boots shop in September 2008 I was after a pair of knee high brown or cognac-coloured flat boots. The only bit where these shiny red ones meet the mark is with the shaft length. They are after all knee high. The glossy patent boots instantly caught my eyes in the window.
Diese Stiefel sind schon echte Hingucker. Sie sind mein eigenes Abschiedsgeschenk aus Manchester. Als ich im September 2008 in das damalige Geschäft von Duo-Boots ging, war es auf der Suche nach kniehohen flachen Stiefeln in Braun oder Cognac. Nun gut, wenigstens die Schafthöhe stimmt bei den roten Lackstiefeln. Immerhin sind sie kniehoch. Die Stiefel aus lippenstiftroten Knautschlack sind mir schon im Schaufenster ins Auge gesprungen.
When there were no sensible boots fitting my description to be had I caved in and tried the red ones. I was smitten before I tried them on. They were expensive. Glamorous. Gorgeous and fit like a dream. An x-rated dream. Lined with Barbie-pink leather.
Natürlich habe ich der Versuchung nachgegeben als es keine alltagstauglichen Stiefel gab, die meinen Wünschen entsprachen. Ich war schon sehr begeistert bevor ich sie anprobierte. Sie waren sündhaft, teuer und passten wie angegossen. Ein nicht ganz jugendfreier Traum. Abgefüttert mit barbiepinken Leder.
As I admired them in front of the mirror the most junior or the three assistants chirped in if I was uncomfortable with the attention I could always wear a red pearl necklace. Silence. You could hear a pin drop. Or the other two assistants breathe in. Frantically hoping to disappear this very instant. I smiled, looked shortly down on my ample cleavage, tilted my head and replied: „So far men looking at my booooooo(ts) have never been an issue. It will be a welcome change.“ Während ich sinnierend vor dem Spiegel stand und die Stiefel bewunderte, plapperte die jüngste der drei Verkäuferinnen fröhlich, ich könne ja mit einer roten Perlenkette von den Stiefeln ablenken. Stille. Man konnte eine Stecknadel fallen hören. Oder aber die anderen beiden Verkäuferinnen tief einatmen, in der Hoffnung dabei im Erdboden zu versinken. Ich lächelte, schaute auf meinen üppigen Busen runter, legte den Kopf zur Seite und erwiderte: „Bis jetzt hatte ich noch nie das Problem das mit Männer nur auf die Stiefel geschaut haben. Das wird eine willkommene Abwechslung.“
(Phonetisch sind auch englisch Boots= Stiefel und Boobs= Brüste für ein Wortspiel nah genug beieinander.)
The two more experienced assistants continued breathing. And I bought the boots. They do get a lot of attention. Not always a pleasure. We could tell you a few stories. No matter how much I dress them down they remain the porn boots. They do make killer calves, don’t they? Die beiden anderen Verkäuferinnen stellten die Schnappatmung ein. Und ich habe die Stiefel gekauft. Sie erhalten immer enorm viel Aufmerksamkeit. Das ist nicht immer eine Freude. Wir könnten euch da einiges erzählen. Egal wie ich sie style irgendwie bleiben diese Stiefel recht pornös. Dafür machen sie aber Killerwaden, oder?

My shopping companion, the wonderful harpist Nadia Birkenstock nearly keeled over when she saw my find in the January sale – this ugly Christmas Sweater. („Are you nuts?“). Well it was reduced to a fiver and I was adamant and bought it. At my place she admitted that with the green tafetta skirt (which I didn’t bring along when we were shopping) it actually makes a great wacky Christmas outfit.
Meine Shoppingbegleitung, die zauberhafte Harfinistin Nadia Birkenstock, ist beim Anblick dieses aussergewöhnlichen Pullovers im Winterschlussverkauf beinahe hinten übergekippt. („Bist du wahnsinnig?“). Naja, er war im Sale auf 5 Euro runtergesetzt und ich liess mich vom Kauf nicht abhalten. Zuhause musste sie lachend zugeben, dass der schon „der Hammer“ mit dem Taftrock ist. Den hatte ich aber natürlich bei H+M nicht dabei.
Like one the quirky RetroChick I do love my kitschy Christmas outfits – and the matching accessories. The simple matte golden kittenheels get a bit of elf or Tinkerbell magic with the red pompom shoe clips. Monty, der Mops (the Pug) put his usual Mini-Santa-Hat hairclip on. Wie die herrlich ungewöhnliche RetroChick liebe ich kitschige Weihnachtsoutfits – und die passenden Accessoires. Diese einfachen mattgoldenen Kittenheels sehen durch die roten PomPoms aus als wären sie von den Elfen vom Weihnachtsmann. Monty, der Mops trägt seinen üblichen weihnachtlichen Schmuck.
The poinsettia headpiece arrived last year a few days too late and this is the first time it gets worn. Der Weihnachtsstern-Haarschmuck kam letztes Jahr etwas verspätet an und jetzt trage ich ihn zum ersten Mal.
Quite simple but pretty and good for travelling. Relativ schlicht – aber hübsch und gut für unterwegs.

Winter or rather Christmas is coming! Time to get Bernie Dexter’s winter-wonderland dress out again. I do love the idea of seasonal dresses. Tropical prints in summer, a golden riot in Autumn – and now dreaming of a white Christmas with this pin-up fairytale beauty. Der Winter kommt – oder besser Weihnachten naht. Genau richtig um wieder das Winterzauber-Kleid von Bernie Dexter herauszuholen. Ich bin ein großer Fan von Mustern, die auf die Jahreszeit abgestimmt sind. Tropische Prints im Sommer, ein goldener Wald im Herbst und jetzt ein Wintermärchen mit diesem Pin-Up Kleid.
As much as Christmas markets have a tendency to annoy me – well I do live right in the city centre and ours is rather spread out. Which is charming. Unless you are in a hurry and a trifle late. Zig zagging around people in strolling mode isn’t fun. However I do love a good mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, Bratwurst and toasted almonds. So sehr wie mich Weihnachtsmärkte schnell nerven – ich wohne in Bochum mitten in der Stadt und unserer geht einmal quer durch die Stadt. Eigentlich sehr charmant. Es sei denn man muss Dinge erledigen und hat es eilig während der Rest um einen herum im Schlendermodus ist und alle Zeit der Welt hat. Aber auch ich mag einen guten Glühwein, heiße Maronen, Bratwurst und gebrannte Mandeln.
I am very tempted to wear this dress to the conservatives Christmas party. It starts with a walk-in advent calendar. No clue what that is. But we were told it’s outdoors, there will be carolling (trust me you don’t want to hear me sing) and if capable people should bring a musical instrument. Everyone there and within hearing range can count themselves lucky we sold my violin ages ago. I was never very good and on bad days it sounded like someone torturing a cat. Anyway – I can always look the part. Like a Christmas angel. Silent night! Ich bin sehr versucht dieses Kleid zur Weihnachtsfeier der CDU-Fraktion anzuziehen. Wir beginnen dieses Jahr mit einem begehbaren Adventskalender. Was auch immer das ist. Es ist wohl draußen, wir werden singen (und glaubt mir, mich will keiner singen hören) und wer (es spielen) kann, soll ein Instrument mitbringen. Zum Glück für alle Beteiligten ist meine Geige schon lange verkauft. Ich war darin nie wirklich gut und an schlechten Tagen klang es verdächtig nach gequälter Katze. stille Nacht hat auch was für sich. Anyway – wenigstens kann ich was passendes Anziehen: bei dem Outfit werden selbst Weihnachtsengel neidisch.

Today is the first of Advent. The first of four Sundays before Christmas. Time to get out the themed jewellery, hats and dresses. I love kitsch and this seasonal stuff. Still need to make a new fascinator for the Christmas parties, one as a giveaway for Curvy Christmas and one or two for friends as presents. Heute ist der erste Advent. Der erste von vier Sonntagen vor Weihnachten. Der richtige Zeitpunkt um einen Teil meines Schmucks, Hütchen und Kleider wieder hervor zu holen. Ich liebe Kitsch und Weihnachtskarten. Ich muss immer noch einen neuen Fascinator für meine Weihnachtspartys und einen zum verlosen für Curvy Christmas und ein oder zwei für Freundinnen machen.
Some of my oldest X-mas trinkets: got the earrings and charm bracelet from a lovely little online shop in the US in 2004. The brooch is vintage. Mein erster Weihnachtsschuck – die Ohrringe und das Armband habe ich in einem entzückenden kleinen Onlineshop aus den USA ca. 2004 gekauft. Die Brosche ist alt.

More Christmas bling – the bracelet from Etsy is a 1950s origninal from the US with cellophan snowflakes. Perfect for a snow queen! Mehr Weihnachtlicher Schmuck – das Armbade habe ich bei Etsy gefunden. Ein Orignial aus den 1950gern mit Zellophan-Schneeflocken. Perfekt für eine Schneekönigin!
This is a DIY brooch – made from giant snowflake and tiny skate earrings. Die Brosche ist selbstgemacht – oder besser zusammengestellt aus einem riesigem Schneeflocken- und zwei kleinen Schlittschuhohrringen.
The three vintage brooches are via Ebay – I found the bauble earrings in October in a small shop on an island in the north sea. Die drei Vintagebroschen habe ich bei Ebay gefunden. Die Ohrringe im Oktober in einem kleinen Schmuckladen auf Borkum.
A walk through the winter woods: this is a sort of DIY fascinator – bought the bouquet and strapped it onto a headband. No outfit pics yet. That’ll change soon! Ein Spaziergang durch den Winterwald: das hier ist auch irgendwie selbstgemacht – ein kleines Gesteck auf einem Haarband befestigt. Davon gibt es noch keine Outfitbilder – die kommen noch!
This is actually another Christmas brooch (from Etsy) – but it is the more or less permantly on this squirrel dress. But to be fair I only wear this in autumn and winter. Das hier ist zwar eigentlich eine weitere Weihnachtsbrosche (von Etsy) – bleibt aber immer am Eichhörnchenkleid. Gut, das ziehe ich auch nur im (Spät-)Herbst und Winter an.
The last pic is „Monty der Mops“ (the pug), my handbag dog dressed up for Christmas. Claire’s is the place where I got this little trinket a few years ago. I think at least in 2010. Auf dem letzten Bild ist „Monty der Mops“, meine Hundehandtasche weihnachtlich zurecht gemacht. Das Teil ist von Claire’s wo es alle Jahre wieder sowas gibt, ich meine das hier ist von 2010.

Ok, though this winter is lacking somewhat around here in cold temperatures – it is time to post this wonderful jacket by Collectif Clothing. I promised that to Froilein Olivia some time ago. Marianne is part of a suit and Hackey Rose’s blogpost is to die for – she has this in pink though. Though I love pink, I thought it would be too sweet and I got this set in green for silly money in the sale. I couldn’t size up the skirt – and that is why you won’t see it on moi (at least for a while). It fits like a glove, or rather as we say in German like a saussage in skin („Wurst in Pelle“). Not an extra layer – but am quite stuffed to the brim. Anyway – it is still a great jacket and looks good and wintery.
The jacket is made with fake fur. Worn here with a vintage (real) fur set. The mini hat is reclaimed mink and was a dowdy cap before I made this fascinator out of it. The brown inlay is a fur brooch, also dating from the 1950s or 1960s.

The parents and I went to the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn – for an art exhibition. Matching the Japanese theme were the decorations in the cafe. Pics inside were not allowed. Die Eltern und ich haben eineAusstellungin derBundeskunsthalle besucht. Die Deko im Cafe war auf das japanische Thema abgestimmt. Bilder drinnen waren nicht erlaubt.
