Plus40Fabulous: Things I am proud of

This article is in English – there is a short synopsis in German at the end.
Es gibt am Ende einen kurze deutsche Zusammenfassung, der Artikel selber ist auf Englisch.

Apart from a few things and groups I am affiliated with is the Plus40Fabulous group. There is a monthly theme and though I am late I am not too late for my contribution.

So what am I proud of?

There is the obvious thing on this blog – I am proud to be Miss Kittenheel. It is fun and I hope to inspire others to live the way they want it. Give a fig on what the others say. If you want retro – wear it, no matter what your size is. Yes, ridicule can sting but the feeling like you are outside, pressing your nose to the glass while there is a ball going on inside hurts too. It can cripple your soul. Do what makes you happy, what feels right for you! It took me quite a while to cmome to terms that over the years I became first a fat teenage girl and then as a woman the fat remained. Give or take a few diets which made everything worse in the long run.

I am a landscape architect. I have worked in two countries in my profession. It fills me with silly pride that I can touch the things I imagined. On my mothers side I am the first female with academic training and on my fathers side the first female with a degree in engineering, because that is the title I achieved. My job is diverse and chellenging. Of course there are downsides and I am not excited every day about it – but I wouldn’t be real otherwise.

I was raised to be proud to be a European first, before that nationalistic bollocks. These days I am not so proud of my Europe – but I am a stubborn creature and that is not something I let go off easily. So, the third (big) thing I am proud o is being a part time politican with a mandate on my local council. Getting there was a few years hard work and I nearly missed out (as it is politics after all). You can’t have politics without meddling and scheming. You got to have the stomach for that. And persistence. And to boldly go where you know you are not welcome. Where they don’t reserve a seat for you (and saw off the legs under the chair you are sitting on). I met a lot of people who struggled with that. You have to make a lot of compromises. But at some point you also got to draw a line or you loose being yourself.

Currently, for almost a year I am an independent member in my local council. I have left the party I got elected for. I am not proud of that. Had I the chance to turn back time I would do the very same thing again though. Sometimes life isn’t pretty. I started Miss Kittenheel for that. To have something where I am my own boss and just to my bidding. A happy place.

I started my life in politics with a back then new party who sadly started to desintegreate. A lot of what was important for me was lost out of sight. I try to carry some of that with me to my new political home. Civil rights, freedom and social issues are still very important. I started in a party that claimed to be post gender but the last year and recent developments made me realise we still need feminism, maybe more than five years ago.

I won’t burn my bra though but I do burn for equal chances. For a world (and my country) that give my god children the chances I got. For a society where people marry for love and not for provision. For a world where no means no. For a society where you can be whatever you want to be, without fear or persecution (as long as you don’t want to cut back the rights of others because they effing offend you).

Ich bin stolz auch meine drei Leben – ich arbeite als Landschaftsarchitektin und es ist schön die Dinge, die man sich ausgedacht hat anfassen zu können. Ich bin stolz auf Miss Kittenheel – denn ich hoffe so kann ich mehr Menschen erreichen, dass sie so leben, wie es sich für sie richtig anfühlt. Das mit dem Vorbild. Ein schöner, glücklicher Ort. Und ich bin stolz darauf in der (Lokal-) Politik mitzumachen. Gut, dass ist nicht immer so und manchmal fällt man auch unschöne Entscheidungen (immerhin bin ich seit knapp einem Jahr parteilos), aber manches ist notwendig. Für sich selber. In der Politik haben nicht immer alle darauf gewartet das man mitmachen will. Aber das trifft auch für das ganze übrige Leben zu. Und ja, ich bin Feministin – ich meine nicht das wir bessere Menschen als Männer sind. Allerdings ist das mit der Chancengleichheit immer noch unheimlich wichtig. Und das wir das bewahren und hüten ist vielleicht heute wieder wichtiger als noch vor zwei oder drei Jahren.

Pink Lady and Pinup-Fashion Magazine’s Style of the Week

Recently on a whim I dyed my hair pink again. For my flamingo dress and because I wanted to do it again. Pink hair is fun. It is fading now but here are a few picks as a pink lady. Not as pink as last time though! But I just dyed over my middle blond.

Neulich habe ich mir die Haare nochmal pink gefärbt. Für mein Flamingo-Kleid und einfach so. Weil es Spass macht. Es verblasst gerade wieder, aber hier sind ein paar Bilder als es noch frisch war. Nicht so Pink wie beim letzten Mal, aber diesmal habe ich einfach nur mein Mittelblond überfärbt.

Die entzückende pinke Tasche ist von MyPepita. Genau wie Birgit von Charming Curves habe ich die zu einem reduzierten Preis bekommen. Mir gefällt die Tasche total gut, sie ist nur leider einen Hauch zu klein um mein iPad reinzubekommen UND die Tasche zu schliessen.

Mein Februar and more „workwear“

And this is what I wore to the February council session. Life number two. The local politician.
Das ist mein Outfit zu meiner letzten Ratssitzung. Leben Nummer zwei – die Lokalpolitikerin.

Last one for today is a casual outfit. For everyday, though miles away from mundane. I wore it on a Friday, though I don’t do casual Friday’s. I bought this fress from another blogger and prior to that I didn’t know that Queens of Holloway copies other designs. Contrary to some of the originals they produce my size too. Anyway – a happy doggy dress. What a style.
Das letzte Outfit für heute ist für zwanglose Angelegenheiten. Etwas für den Alltag, aber kein alltägliches Kleid. Das Kleid ist von Queens of Holloway, ich habe es von einer anderen Bloggerin gekauft. QoH kopieren andere Hersteller, allerdings im Gegensatz zu einigen von ihnen auch in meiner Größe! Anyway – die Hunde sind entzückend!

Berlin FashionWeek Day2+3 plus GiveAway

Back to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin in January 2016. Lots of pics this time. If you want to win the lovely give-away from Vive Maria you got to scroll down quite a bit. Day 1 was spent at the Curvy.
Zurück zur Mercedes Bent Fashion Week in Berlin im Januar 2016. Viele, viele Bilder dieses Mal – wenn ihr das Give-Away von Vive Maria gewinnen wollt müsst ihr ziemlich weit nach unten scrollen. Tag 1 hatte ich auf der Curvy verbracht.

No pain, no gain – Ella from Miss Ellas Welt got some beautiful braids by Betty Amrhein. Am quite excited to meet Ella again soon in Düsseldorf – for her speciality: high heels.
Wer schön sein will muss leiden – Ella von Miss Ellas Welt bekam von Betty Amrhein eine klassische Flechtfrisur. Ich freue mich schon sie bald wieder in Düsseldorf zu treffen – es geht um ihre Spezialität Schuhe.

I met towards the end of the day the delightful Victoria from Vintagemädchen and Maja from Modespitze – together we went to Monika’s pop-up shop from Mlle Tambour. And was there for a little shooting with one of my favourite patterns – tartans in blue and red. I love how Monika used the seams to change directions in the pattern. From left to right: Monika, Maja, Victoria and me.
Gegen Ende des Tages habe ich noch die zauberhafte Victoria von Vintagemädchen und Maja von Modespitze getroffen – zusammen sind wir denn zu Monikas für die FashionWeek angemieteten Showroom von Mlle Tambour gefahren. Dort gab es ein kleines Shooting mit Kleidern in einem meiner liebsten Mustern – Schottenkaros in blau und rot. Ich finde es großartig das Monika die Nähte genutzt hat um das Muster gegeneinander zu versetzten. Von links nach rechts: Monika, Maja, Victoria und ich.

Diese wunderbare Rakete habe ich bei Accessorize unterwegs im Sale aufgeschnappt.

I wish the Curvy was a part of the general fair – the Panorama. The interiors at the bottom were part of the Triangle stall. In case you wonder, the skirt is the Hermeline by Hellbunny.
Leider ist die Curvy kein Teil der allgemeinen Modemesse, der Panorama. Die Sofas und Sessel waren Teil des Triangle Messestandes. Der Rock ist Hermeline von Hellbunny.

So gorgeous – the new lines from Vive Maria – a wonderful vintage and retro label is slowly producing larger sizes but we are still a long way away from my kind of plus sizes. Understandable but still heartbreaking in the case of this top that’ll hit the shops very soon. For the cut, the colours and the pattern are so to my taste. But I got this very pretty bag and something for a lucky reader.
Einfach wunderschön – die neuen und aktuellen Kollektionen von Vive Maria – ein wunderbares Vintage- und Retrolabel. Sie erweitern zwar langsam ihr Grössensegment, aber noch ist es ein weiter Weg bis hin zu meiner Grösse. Verständlich für ein kleines Label, trotzdem gerade mit dem wunderschönen Top einfach schade. Das wäre genau mein Ding. Anyway – ich habe diese schöne Tasche bekommen und etwas für eine glückliche Gewinnerin.

Stop Staring had a stand too at Panorama and for years I have admired their stuff on various websites. Usually they didn’t have my size – they have plus sizes but the smaller ones – my sizes they retail regulary on Modcloth, occasionally on Navabi. Here comes in a great shop – Fruchthaus in Berlin specializes vintage reprododuction or retro, pin up and rockabilly clothing. Bad pic and by the end of the day bad hair and I look exhausted. But the dress (here in black) is great (and the shop dangerous to my bank account) – you’ll see it in it’s full glory very soon for one of my Valentine’s specials!
Stop Staring hatte auch einen Stand auf der Panorama und seit Jahren schmachte ich schon auf diversen Webseiten ihre Kleider an. Meistens haben sie nicht meine Größe – sie haben eher die kleineren Übergrößen – meine Größe gibt es aber immer mal auf Modcloth, manchmal auch auf Navabi. Hier kommt ein grossartiger Laden ins Spiel – das Berliner Fruchthaus, sie sind auf Pin-Up, Rockabilly, Vintagereproduktionen und Retrokleidung spezialisiert. Das Kleid (hier in schwarz) ist großartig (und der Laden gefährlich für mein Konto) – ihr werdet es aber bald besser in einem meiner Posts zum Valentinstag sehen.

Oktoberfest Craze: Dolly&Dotty in Tartan meets Trachten

When Dolly and Dotty approached me to feature one of their dresses I was very excited. They are a vintage reprodutction brand and my style is vintage and due to my size reproduction for anything apart from accessories. It was tough to pick only one dress – this stripey one caught my eye and this white one would have been an excellent choice to wear to that All White Party at the last Plussize Fashion Days in Hamburg (couldn’t go because of work). I also liked this one with coral – reminds me of a day by the sea side. But there was one in red Tartan, actually two – a v-neck one and this one with the bateau neckline.

Tartan isn’t just wonderful for Christmas (just look at Betty Pamper and her pug Mr. Truffles), it is good all year round. Especially for work. Though this isn’t really a work outfit.

The Sound of Music has a Highland Fling

Almost ten years ago when I lived in the UK I fell in love with Trachten – our German traditional clothing. Most of that is alpine inspired and more a regional thing southern Germany shares with Austria and Switzerland rather than the north. I love the materials – rich wools or felts (though I struggle to wear them), colourful scarves (with or without fringes) and quite often intricate embroidery on Dirndls, jackets or trousers.

So I combined my love for tartans, the Dolly&Dotty dress in Royal Stewart with the alpine look and I really like it. The grey new wool jacket has a traditional cropped style, called Janker in German, the scarf is typical, too. The fascinator is one of my very own, made by me with vintage tweed and feathers. The traditional style feather hackle was a flea market find. The bag is from Laura Ashley, lovely rough tweed – got it a few years back on eBay, like the vintage tapestry brooches, though I got them more recently.

The dress is made of cotton without stretch. The sizing is according to their charts. Once more I was between sizes. As with most dresses I had the hem shortened and the waist nipped in. I look way too short with a classic midi length and I like to show off my calves. The jacket is a bit on the tight side, hopefully that’ll change next time I feature it here as I need to get a bit more active again. The shoes and tights are dark grey, they look on my screen a bit purple/blue.

Als mich Dolly and Dotty kontaktierten ob ich eines ihrer Kleider auf meiner Seite vorstellen möchte, war ich begeistert. Sie machen Vintage-Repro Kleider und das passt halt einfach. Mein Stil ist auch mehr Repro als Vintage – was daran liegt ,das ich wegen meiner Grösse fast nur Accessoires in den entsprechenden Läden finde. Es fiel mir schwer mich für nur ein Kleid zu entscheiden – dieses Gestreifte ist ein Hingucker und das Weisse wäre genau richtig für die All White Party bei den letzten Plus Size Fashion Days in Hamburg gewesen (leider, leider war das kurz vor Projektabgabe und ich musste im Büro bleiben). Das hier in oder mit Koralle wäre genau das Richtige für einen Tag am Meer. Und dann gab es auch noch Tartans, Schottenkaros – in rot. Einmal mit V-Ausschnitt und dann das hier mit dem U-Boot Ausschnitt.

Tartans sind nicht nur schön zu Weihnachten (wie hier bei Betty Pamper and Mr. Truffles), ich mag sie das ganze Jahr über. Ist auch toll für den Arbeitsalltag, wenn keine grösseren Besprechungen anstehen. Auch wenn das hier in der Kombi kein Bürooutfit ist.

Meine Liebe für Trachten habe ich vor knapp 10 Jahren in England entdeckt. Kaufbare Trachten sind stilistisch meist in den Alpenländern und im Süddeutschen verortet, der Norden spielt jenseits der Fischerhemden eine untergeordnete Rolle. Ich mag die Materialien – die Woll-, Walk- und Lodenstoffe (auch wenn ich die leider kaum vertrage), die bunten Tücher (mit oder ohne Fransen) und die Stickereien, die auf vielen Dirndln, Jacken oder Hosen zu finden sind.

Und so habe ich zwei Richtungen kombiniert, die ich sehr schätze – die Schottenkaros mit dem Dolly&Dotty Kleid in Royal Stewart zur Tracht. Das Ergebnis gefällt mir ausnehmend gut. Der kurze Blazer oder Janker aus grauer Schurwolle ist ein Klassiker der Trachtenmode ebenso wie das bunte, quadratische Tuch. Das Hütchen ist eines meiner eigenen Designs aus Vintage-Tweed und -Federn. Den Federschmuck habe ich auf dem Flohmarkt gefunden, der zierte wahrscheinlich mal einen Trachtenhut. Die Tasche ist von Laura Ashley, aus grobem Tweed – vor ein paar Jahren auf eBay gefunden, ebenso wie die alten Gobelinbroschen, allerdings sind die noch nicht so lange bei mir.
Das Kleid ist aus Baumwolle, ohne Stretch. Die Maßtabelle ist akkurat, aber auch hier war ich mal wieder zwischen zwei Grössen. Wie die meisten meiner Kleider wurde auch das gekürzt und etwas an der Taille eingeholt. Mit einer echten Midi-Länge sehe ich einfach zu kurz aus und ich zeige gerne meine Waden. Der Janker fällt sehr knapp aus, aber ich hoffe das ändert sich bald, denn ich muss wieder etwas aktiver werden. Die Schuhe und Strümpfe sind eigentlich dunkelgrau – auf meinem Monitor kommen sie etwas blau/lila

DIY your Closet: Blackberry Fascinator – Mohair Hütchen

Last Sunday Katha from Kathastrophal posted a new project „DIY your closet“ she organises with Mein Feenstaub. The idea is to show selfmade, crafted or upcycled clothing or accessories. I wanted to sew my own clothes for a very long time. But with my work as a landscape architect and a mandate in council plus blogging as Miss Kittenheel there is not enough time to take a class. But I like hats and I found out I quite enjoy making fascinators. Making a fascinator doesn’t take ages and handstitching is fine. This pretty little thing is an addition to my winter outfits.

Letzten Sonntag hat Katha von Kathastrophal mit Mein Feenstaub ein neues Projekt „DIY your closet“ vorgestellt. Dabei geht es darum sebstgenähtes, -gemachtes oder upgecycletes. Seit einigen Jahren würde ich gerne einen Nähkurs machen, aber zwischen der Landschaftsarchitektur, also meinem Beruf, meinem Mandat im Stadtrat und der Kommunalpolitik plus bloggen für Miss Kittenheel bleibt einfach nicht genug Zeit für einen Nähkurs. Aber ich mag Hüte und es macht mir Spass meine eigenen Fascinators zu machen. Ein Hütchen zu machen dauert nicht lange und lässt sich einfach von Hand nähen. Dieses hier ist eine gute Ergänzung für meine Winteroutfits.

You don’t need lots of things to make a fascinator: scissors, a needle, matching thread, needle threader (at least I do), pins and depending on the materials a thimble.
Man braucht nicht viel um einen Fascinator zu machen: Schere(n), eine Nadel, passender Faden, eine Einfädelhilfe (also ich brauche den zumindest), Stecknadeln und je nach Material auch ein Fingerhut.

I prefer to use a sinamay to a felt one – it is easier to get the needle through.
Ich bevorzuge eine Basis aus Sinamay gegenüber einer aus Filz – es ist auch einfacher da die Nähnadel durchzubekommen.

This fascinator’s material is from a reclaimed mohair cap from the 1950s or 1960s which I cut in pices. You mount it with lining and pin it on a base and handstitch it. The little bow is a hair bop from H&M and the blackberries are from a vintage millinery supply via eBay.
Das Material dieses Fascinators ist eine alte Mohair-Kappe aus den 1950/1960gern. Ich habe daraus einen Kreis ausgeschnitten und das mit dem Volumenvlies auf der Sinamay-Basis mit Stecknadeln aufgezogen und habe es handvernäht. Die kleine Schleife ist eine Haarklammer von H&M und die Brombeeren sind Vintage-Hutbedarf, die ich über eBay bezogen habe.

Call me lazy but I acutally use safety pins to attach the headband. It also has the advantage that you can readjust them if you want to weat it slightly different.
Vielleicht bin ich faul – aber ich benutze immer nur Sicherheitsnadeln um das Haarband zu befestigen. So kann man auch im Nachhinein noch die Passform etwas anpassen.

No outfit shown with this one – you’ll see that in less than two weeks. It’ll be one of the ones I’ll wear in Berlin for the Curvy and the Fashion Week.
Diesmal gibt es kein Outfit dazu – das seht ihr in weniger als zwei Wochen. Dieses Hütchen gehört zu denen die ich mit nach Berlin zur Fashion Week zur Curvy nehme.

For a few years I hoped this one will be a bit more quiet. I’ll try to make a start with my dresses. Though I love my novelty prints, they make it tricky to combine them with accessories to give them different looks. Still, you’ll see a few more of these prints this year, too – flamingos, dogs and hopefully cowgirls.

Seit einigen Jahren hoffe ich immer das das nächste ruhiger wird. Dieses Jahr fange ich zumindest mit meinen Kleidern an. Auch wenn ich auf meine „Novelty Prints“ – tja, wie nennt man die auf Deutsch – graphische Muster trifft es nicht ganz – also meine Hunde-/ Katzen- und Landschaftsmuster – nicht verzichten mag, sind sie schwierig mit anderen Accessoires zu neuen Looks zu kombinieren.

Ice Princess returns – Hell Bunny Trixie Coat Daywear

Last year I teamed up my Hell Bunny Trixie coat with white. Lots of white. This is a less cartoony look. A bit snow princess for everyday. It is still a striking coat. I got it when it came out in winter 2014/2015. You can get it much cheaper now on Amazon. It is also available in pink, but I don’t like that with my blonde hair. Too sweet. Wayyyy too sweet. My next post will be my contribution for Curvy Christmas on December 8th – can’t wait!

Letztes Jahr habe ich meinen Hell Bunny Trixie Mantel mit Weiß kombiniert. Viel Weiß. Dies hier ist ein weniger auffälliger Look. Der Mantel ist immer noch ein Hingucker. Ich musste ihn letztes Jahr unbedingt haben, als er herauskam. Jetzt gibt es ihn wesentlich preiswerter bei Amazon. Sogar in rosa, aber das ist mir mal t meinen blonden Haaren zu süß, um nicht zu sagen, zu süßlich.
Mein nächster Beitrag ist dann endlich mein Türchen bei Curvy Christmas am 8.12 – ich freu mich schon so!

Hell Bunny Hermeline Skirt – Rock mit Rehen (und Füchsen und Hasen)

Some of you who follow me on Facebook might have noticed how badly I wanted this seasons cutest Hell Bunny fabric – the Hermeline as a skirt. It was available for a while but sadly not in 4xl. I first caught a glimpse of this wonderful over the top pattern here. But nothing more was shown. The came the short dress. A longer version was announced as was a circle skirt.

When I saw the pics of the long one I wasn’t chuffed – it has seams under the bust. Horizontally. Do I hear a but that is flattering? Yes and no. It is flattering as long as your bust has the right kind of size. The right kind according to the cut. Well, it doesn’t look so swell when you can’t fill that in but it looks pathetic once your bosom gets the adjective stately. A seam right across, cutting a horizontal cleft in is never sexy. The skirt didn’t have that issue. How could it, it’s a skirt. And I was happy- it said up to 4xl on the look book pic. Yayh, that’s me! Unlike the lovely totally business appropriate Lady Haze only going up to XL. Not sure if they think fat girls only play dress up. Gnahhhh….

Anyway, then the pretty Hermeline skirt hit the shops. Up to XL. I admired it on Froilein Olivia and Vintagemädchen. And asked my usual Hell Bunny seller. The plus sizes were expected towards the end of October. And then early November. They arrived mid November. So here it is. It is totally me. It is a blaze of colours. There are roses and sunflowers. But must striking are the forest friends: the deer, bunnies and foxes.

As I got home I made a little fascinator for it with dark green velvet, mini toadstools, orange berries and a cute kitsch little hiking brooch, an original souvenir from the 50s. I didn’t wear the outfit with another brooch on the pics but I got a little little collection, which I have shown earlier in the year. Next time I must put the deer on the cardi. How adorable will that be?

Diejenigen von euch, die mir auf Facebook folgen, haben vielleicht bemerkt wie sehr ich das entzückendste Muster der Saison, das HellBunny zu bieten hatte wollte – Hermeline als Rock. Es ist nun schon seit einiger Zeit auf dem Markt, nur mit den 4xl haperte es lange. Einen ersten Blick konnte ich hier auf das Muster werfen, genug um meine Neugier zu wecken. Dann kam das kurze Kleid. Eine lange Verrsion wurde angekündigt, ebenso wie ein Tellerrock.

Als ich die Bilder des langen Kleides sah, war ich nicht erfreut – es hatte einen horizontalen Abnäher unter der Brust. Ah, weil es vorteilhaft ist? Ja und nein, es ist ein guter Look solange alles sitzt wie es soll. Wenn der Busen passt – tschaka! Es sieht aus wie von der großen Schwester ausgeborgt wenn einfach nicht genug Füllmaterial vorhanden ist. Sobald aber der Busen das Adjektiv majestätisch erhält, wird es unschön: eine Naht, die sich quer über dem Busen einschneidet, ist niemals sexy. Geschweige denn gut angezogen. Nun denn, der Rock hat diese Probleme nicht. Wie auch, es ist ein Rock. Und ich war zufrieden, das Bild im Look Book sagte bis 4xl. Meine Größe! Im Gegensatz zur Verfügbarkeit des reizenden, völlig bürotauglichen Lady Haze Kleid, das es nur bis XL gibt. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob sie meinen wir fetten Mädchen spielen nur verkleiden und gehen nicht arbeiten. Hmpf….

Anyway, der hübsche Hermeline-Rock kam in die (Online-) Shops. Bis XL. Ich konnte ihn an Froilein Olivia und dem Vintagemädchen bewundern, an einigen anderen auch. Dann habe ich bei dem HellBunny-Händler meines Vertrauens nachgefragt: die großen Größen sollten Ende Oktober reinkommen. Dann Anfang November. Es wurde Mitte November und hier ist es nun in seiner ungekürzten Pracht. Genau mein Ding. Farbenfroh, mit Rosen und Sonnenblumen. Aber am auffälligsten sind die Waldbewohner: die Rehe, Hasen und Füchse.

Als ich damit nach Hause kam, habe ich sofort einen Fascinator dafür gemacht: mit dunkelgrünem Samt, Mini-Fliegenpilzen, orangenen Beeren und einer kleinen Wanderbrosche, original Souvenir-Kitsch aus den 50gern.

Ich habe dieses Outfit nicht mit einer Brosche getragen, aber ich habe eine kleine Auswahl, die ich Anfang des Jahres schon gepostet hatte. Nächstes mal muss ich unbedingt das Reh dazu tragen. Wie entzückend wäre das?

Pump up the Volume – Maximales Volumen

This month contribution „Think Big!“ for Modejahr2015 it’s about maximum volume. As a vintage fan what could be better suited to add volume than a petticoat? That would be two petticoats! Super extra pooffiness. I really like the result. At some point I need to make a blog entry about the under-construction of my outfits. Recently you have seen this dress before worn with mustard. This dress was shortened, again, at the hem and sleeves. I also dyed it grey. Initially the dots were white. But as it was, it was a bit too busy for my taste. I really needed a swing dress for work. Vintage inspired full skirted workwear (for external meetings) is still something I struggle with. Anyway, this dress also did a splendid job at the christening of my second godchild.

The brooch is triangular shaped, made of enamel and has a very mad men vibe. The reclaimed vintage mink set adds a touch of glamour to the outfit. The scarf is unchanged. However, I turned the fur cap’s top into a fascinator. The rest still waits to be upcycled, I’d love to try to make a bandeau hat. It feels a little odd to take the scissors to a perfectly good pillbox hat, but it was too small for me. Would you do that, too?

Im Modejahr 2015 geht es im November bei „Think Big“ um maximales Volumen. Was könnte da für einen Vintagefan besser geeignet sein als ein Petticoat? Natürlich Petticoats! Ordentlich aufgerüscht. Ich mag das Ergebnis. Demnächst muss ich auch mal einen Blog Beitrag über die Utakonstruktionen meiner Outfits machen. Vor kurzem gab es dieses Kleid in Senf zu sehen für die GermanCurves. Auch dieses Kleid wurde gekürzt, an Saum und Ärmeln. Abgesehen davon habe ich es nur grau eingefärbt, also eigentlich nur die Punkte. So wie es war, war es etwas unruhig. Ich habe ein Kleid gesucht, dass ich auch zu externen Besprechungen bei der Arbeit anziehen kann. Vintageinspirierte arbeitstaugliche Kleidung, vor allem mit Ärmeln, ist gerade in meiner Größe sehr schwer zu finden. Anyway, dieses Kleid hat auch hervorragende Dienste bei der Taufe meines zweiten Patenkindes geleistet.

Die Brosche ist dreieckig, aus Emaille und hat einen tollen Mad Men Touch. Das aufgearbeitete Pelzensemble so für einen Hauch von Glamour. Der Nerzschal ist unverändert. Aus dem Deckel der Pelzkappe habe ich diesen Fascinator gemacht. Der Rest wartet noch darauf zu einem Bandeau Hut umgearbeitet zu werden. Es fühlt sich schon etwas merkwürdig an, mit der Schere an einen tadellosen Pelzhut zu gehen, aber er war viel zu klein für meinen Kopf. Würdest du das auch machen?
