NYE – Galaxy Quest zu Silvester

What are you doing New Year’s Eve? This is a good look for a nice party, the theatre or if you just feel like sprucing up. I’ll be gathered around a raclette with a good friend, two of my godchildren and family. 
Was macht ihr zu Silvester? Das hier ist ein schöner Look für eine schicke Party, fürs Theater oder wenn es einfach mal etwas eleganter sein soll. Dieses Jahr werde ich ich mit zwei meiner Patenkinder, guten Freunden und Familie um ein Raclette gesellen.

I wore this look to this year’s Christmas do with the conservatives in the council. We got a tour of the Zeiss Planetarium Bochum by the dedicated Prof. Susanne Hüttemeister. The local planetarium is one of my favourite attractions in the region.
Dieses Outfit habe ich dieses Jahr zur Weihnachtsfeier der CDU-Fraktion im Rat getragen. Wir bekamen eine Führung durch das Zeiss Planetarium Bochum von der sehr engagierten Prof. Susanne Hüttemeister. Das lokale Planetarium ist für mich eine meiner liebstem Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Region.

Curvy Christmas: Jolly Holly

Last Christmas Helly Bunny introduced this beaty of a dress – and it became quite a hit. Probably not only due to the lovely pattern but also because of the 3/4 sleeves. I loved the impeccable Miss Amy May in it and loved CiCi Marie’s fairy-like look with the holly headpiece from Alternate Normality.
Letztes Jahr hat Hell Bunny einen gute Wurf mit seinem Weihnachtskleid gelandet. Das lag wahrscheinlich nicht nur an dem entzückendem Muster sonder auch an den 3/4 Ärmeln. Ich habe die grossartige Miss Amy May darin bewundert aber auch die zarte  CiCi Marie mit ihren traumschönen Bildern und einem Haarschmuck von Alternate Normality.

FrenchCurves – Chic en Léopard (pour Noël)

C’est encore le 16me du mois et c’est le temps pour le French Curves. L’imprimé léopard est quelque chose que j’aime beaucoup mais seulement pour les accessoires. 
It is once more the sixteenth of the months and it is time for the French Curves. The leopard print is something I really like, but  I just keep to accessories.

Moi, j’ai toujours l’impression que le graou n’est pas pour moi. Des vêtements léopard sont super chic pour les autres, mais c’est un peu trop pour moi. Je me ne sens pas comme Grace Kelly mais comme le cliché la madame d’un bordelle pas cher. Peut-être un jupe crayon en léopard est une bonne idée. 
I always have the impression that leopard print is not for me.  Animal printed clothing always strikes me as something for other people but on me it is a bit too much. I don’t feel like Grace Kelly in them but rather like thé cliché of the madam of a cheap brothel.

Mais c’est aussie les temps de l’Avent. En attendant noël j’aime bien de porter les pulls moche. C’est-ci est acheté dans les soldes en janvrier. Avec un chat „festive“. Maintenant j’ai trois et je pense que ça suffit. 
But it is also the time before Christmas. During Advent I love to wear kitschy Christmas sweaters. This one was bought in the January sales. With a „festive“ puss that looks suspiciously like „grumpy cat“. I currently own three Christmas sweaters and I think that is plenty.

Technically this no Christmas wear. The black and green Veronica dress is from Pin-Up-Girl-Clothing and the pussy bow tunic with the tiny heart patterns underneath is by Studio Untold. The brooch is vintage but the headband is new. The looks goes from fun workwear to festive party or a date. Though not a first one, at least not with the headband.




Can’t wait to see the baby godchild as a little elf. Pics will follow soon!

Green Tartan for Christmas

HoHoHo – are you already in a festive mood? The Christmas season is here again. The Christmas market is open and I already had two pinaple skewers covered in white chocolate. No mulled wine yet, though.
HoHoHo – seid ihr schon in Weihnachtsstimmung? Die Adventszeit hat begonnen. Der Weihnachtsmarkt ist eröffnet und ich hatte schon zwei weisse Ananasspiesse. Allerdings noch keinen Glühwein!

Such a pretty dress – I love my tartans, I have this dress in red, too and have shown it on this blog in April with bright greens.
Ein tolles Kleid – diesmal mit einem winterlichen Auftritt. Im April gab es das hier schon mal mit frischem Grün zu sehen – ich habe das Kleid aber auch in Rot.

The fur is vintage – the cuffs are made of an old fake fur scarf. The collar is actually a 1950s blonde mink scarf pinned to my dress.
Der Pelz ist Vintage – die Manschetten sind aus einem alten Kunstfellschal gemacht und der Kragen ist eine weisse Nerz-Krawatte aus den 1950gern.



I sorted my Christmas jewellry. Half the brooches are vintage. All of the earrings are new(ish). The bracelet is my first bit of festive jewellry, bought in 2003.
Meinen Weihnachtsschmuck habe ich schon sortiert. Die Hälfte der Broschen sind alt, die Ohrringe alle „neu“. Das Armband war mein erster Weihnachtsschmuck, gekauft ca 2003.

Guess tomorrow I’ll start operation Christmas tree. So far I haven’t decided if it’ll be the black or the white Christmas tree this year.
Morgen werde ich wahrscheinlich wieder den Weihnachtsbaum hochholen. Bis jetzt weiss ich nur noch nicht ob der schwarze oder weisse Weihnachtsbaum aufgestellt wird.

This was meant to be the November outfit for the French Curves (La Pluie – Rainy Day) – but I struggled this month. Currently I am counting the days till the end of the year. Whenever in the last few months I thought I sorted out one thing out, another thing emerges. Somehow blogging gets a little lost over that.

Fortunately we got Christmas coming up soon. And I LOVE Christmas. Also, I got a few outfits sorted for that! As well as a nice give-away. But for now it is big love with the pretty red Royal Stewart tartan – yes, the one I got in green, too.

Library Chic – Fancy November

This is a surprisingly mild november. It is time to re-show a dress I like to wear for work and politics. Last year I bought the chinoisery blouse. All in all a proper (and slightly prim) look. A nod to the inner geek. A bit lady of the manor.
Dieses Jahr ist der November ungewöhnlich mild. Es ist ist Zeit ein Kleid wieder vorzuzeigen das ich gerne zur Arbeit und auch für politische Veranstaltungen trage. Letztes Jahr ist die Bluse mit dem klassischen Muster dazugekommen. Alles in allem ein klassischer Look. Etwas für den inneren Geek aber auch etwas für das Klischee der Bibliothekarin.

On the Go: Autumn Colours – Mustard meets Plaid

Autumn is finally here! Talking about survival of the fittest –  the dress got extra pockets, the sleeves are taken in and the buttons are mostly closed for good. I think the waist is too high for my taste but it is nice to have a discreet dress.
Der Herbst ist da!  Zum Thema was nicht passt wird passend gemacht – das Kleid hat extra Taschen erhalten, die Ärmel wurden enger gemacht und die Knopfleiste weitgehend zugenäht. Mir ist die Taille etwas zu hoch für meinen Geschmack – aber es ist schön mal ein unauffälligeres Kleid zu haben.


My friendly, diligent and patient tailor also altered an old mink scarf into a collar. The collar is not permanently attaced to the dress. It is still easily washable.
Mein freundlicher, unermüdlicher und geduldiger Schneider hat dann auch aus einem alten Nerzschal einen Kragen gemacht. Der Kragen ist nur mit Sicherheitsnadeln ans Kleid gesteckt. Es ist also immer noch waschbar.

And an old favourite of mine from a German poem about the golden autumn and gilding it with wine:

Autumn Colours: Mustard Yellow Dress Suit

Happy Blog-Birthday to me. Miss Kittenheel turned 4. it has been quite a ride and I still have bags of fun. At first it was just friends and family that dropped by. Some readers come and go. Others have stayed for a while and others came to stay. And some of you became dear friends. It has been a pleasure.
Herzlichen Blog-Geburtstag an mich. Miss Kittenheel ist mittlerweile vier jahre alt und ich amüsiere mich immer noch prächtig. Zuerst haben nur ein paar Freunde und Familienmitglieder vorbeigeschaut. Leser kamen und gingen auch wieder. Einige sind geblieben und einige wurden zu lieben Freunden. Es ist mir ein Vergnügen.


I am still not tired to think about new looks and themes for my blog. Autumn colours are a recurring theme. Like one of my first looks in mustard yellow. I love the freedom of making my own choices. That this blog is me. Without consideration how much clicks what will bring.
Ich habe immer noch wahnsinnig viel Spass daran mir Outfits und Mottos für meinen Blog zu überlegen. Herbstfarben gehören zu den wiederkehrenden Themen. Wie dieses frühe Outfit in Senfgelb. Ich liebe die Freiheit meine eigenen Entscheidungen zu fällen. Dieser Blog ist komplett meins. Ohne zu berücksichtigen was wieviele Zugriffe bekommt.


I finally bought the dress suit in mustard yellow. I also have this in light blue. The combo is really pretty but it gets hardly no mileage. The yellow is less dressy. The fur cuffs are vintage and have been on my blog a few times, like with the Russian princess look.
Neulich habe ich mir endlich dieses Kostüm in Senf- oder Maisgelb geholt. Ich habe das auch in Hellblau. Das Ensemble ist zwar wunderschön, aber es erhält wenig Auslauf. In Gelb ist das Kostüm zumindest für mich alltagstauglicher. Die Pelzmanschetten sind vintage und waren schon mehrfach auf meinem Blog zu sehen, wie mit dem „Schokolade zum Anziehen“ Look.
