A busy month has come and gone and here are some of my outfits Der Februar war rappelvoll und hier sind einige meiner Outfits.
The second part of this blogpost is about even more workwear. As most of you know me as a blogger I start with what I wore to the first Curvy Corner Market in Cologne. Thanks to Elli from Curvyfashionelli for the pic.
And this is what I wore to the February council session. Life number two. The local politician.
Last one for today is a casual outfit. For everyday, though miles away from mundane. I wore it on a Friday, though I don’t do casual Friday’s. I bought this fress from another blogger and prior to that I didn’t know that Queens of Holloway copies other designs. Contrary to some of the originals they produce my size too. Anyway – a happy doggy dress. What a style.
German only this time – though it is a more daring recreation of a look I wore many years ago as an Au-Pair in Paris.
Mich erinnert mein Outift an meine Au-Pair-Zeit in Paris.

C’etait phantastique!
English Version:
Hello, another contribution for French Curves monthly challenge – this time Fake Fur. In my case not a lot of fake fur: the trim of my cape (that became a capelet) and the handbag that looks like a black flokati or mongolian fur cushion. These are the winter cherries – you can look at the summer version here. And my matching selfmade fascinator here. The location was the magnificent Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum with its annual historic fair. This year the opening day was dedicated to Steampunk. What is Steampunk? It is a bit like Jules Verne 2.0. Fashionwise like Sherlock Holmes with steam rockets. It was phantastic!
Was istSteampunk? Einfach phantastisch!

What do you think – did I make the right decision? Was meint Ihr – gute Wahl?
This Friday there is a rockabilly night at the Jahrunderthalle! I’ll be there – and you?

Another turn for DIY Your Closet by Katha and Lisa. It is „surprise, surprise“ another mini-hat or fascinator if you want. Yes, I already did one last month. For me leopard is one of the key patterns in a pin-up or vintage wardrobe. However I prefer my leopard in small dosages. Too much animal print and I think I look like the madam of a cheap brothel. So it’s accents only. Like my selfmade fascinator. I bought another vintage hat on ebay as fake fur. Only it wasn’t. Well, it was vintage and because of that I don’t have any qualms with the realness of the fur. Finally I got the fur fascinator I wanted for a long time. The brooch is vintage, too. Do you like the look?
The first brooch – wasn’t too excited about it though and changed it recently.
I love this dress. I got this at Evans a very, very long time ago. Ca. 2006. It is the second look with the same dress for valentines day and once more it sports a heart pattern. This time it is a super cute tunic by Studio Untold. Still on sale. When I saw it I loved the pussy bow. For my vintage inspired wardrobe I have been on the look-out for a pussy bow blouse for quite a while. The mini hearts are quite discreet. Fortunately it is not the smelly kind of polyester (I had some trouble with that last year). The material is lovely, silky and slightly sheer. In a very good way. The bow is on the smaller side, more modern and less tie-like. Nevertheless, the tunic works exquisitly well with that vintage look of mine.
Quite a different look – but the same blouse (picture by Studio Untold) Gleiche Bluse – komplett anderer Look (Bild von Studio Untold)
I like to mix and match the patterns – the red hearts on the black base with the fake ponyskin gloves and vintage fur flower.
Also nur kleine Highlights.
Was zieht man dazu an?
Once more Valentine’s Day is approaching – hearts, chocolate, flowers – lots of pink, rose and red. All terribly romantic. Not really my thing. In England I found the entire affair a bit absurd. So different from a personal anniversary, with or without a wedding band. But it’s hard to go on without a little love. Though I am a little late since I have been a bit under the weather since Sunday.
So what was literally closer than a cooperation with a cherished neighbour of mine – theBiermuda. Yes, it is indeed a pun on the Bermuda triangle around the corner, a very popular quarter for a night out. The Biermuda ist according toPottblog, one of our local blogging institutions, the first shop entirely dedicated to craft beers in the region. Right in front of my doorstep, Yayh! Craft beers are usually small, traditional or special beers with a focus on good ingredients and recipes. For Max Zellmer and his Team beer is more than just a drink, it is passion. They got already hundreds of beers, planned are up to 500. Classic to cherry, whites and stouts, regional products and those from all over the world. There are regular beer tastings too. I wonder what to wear to one of them?
What riles me about Valentine’s Day are the majority of the cliché ridden presents, the flowers, chocolates – usually and traditionally for women. So I prefer a different angle. I like beer. Most of my friends like beer, a lot of them are Germans after all. I like to make presents that are enjoyed. So here is the beer to Valtenine’s Day –Love Beer. Love Beer fromCamba Bavaria is a pale wheat beer with citrus flavours. There are two bottles to be won. Shipping only within Germany. Just leave a comment with “love beer” under this post. To double your chances you can leave a comment on the matching Facebook post, too. Deadline is Friday, 12.02.2016 at 2359h.

Sigh, got my hair made up by the gorgeous Betty Amrhein. Die grossartigeBetty Amrheinhat mir die Haare gemacht, hach!
No pain, no gain – Ella from Miss Ellas Welt got some beautiful braids by Betty Amrhein. Am quite excited to meet Ella again soon in Düsseldorf – for her speciality: high heels. Wer schön sein will muss leiden – Ella vonMiss Ellas Weltbekam vonBetty Amrheineine klassische Flechtfrisur.
I met towards the end of the day the delightful Victoria from Vintagemädchen and Maja from Modespitze – together we went to Monika’s pop-up shop from Mlle Tambour. And was there for a little shooting with one of my favourite patterns – tartans in blue and red. I love how Monika used the seams to change directions in the pattern. From left to right: Monika, Maja, Victoria and me.
so pretty – the dresses and the ladies!
Day 3 –Tag 3 I got this lovely rocket from Accessorize on my way around town in the Sale. Diese wunderbareRaketehabe ich beiAccessorizeunterwegs im Sale aufgeschnappt.
I wish the Curvy was a part of the general fair – the Panorama. The interiors at the bottom were part of the Triangle stall. In case you wonder, the skirt is the Hermeline by Hellbunny.
gorgous patterns and colours at King Louie grossartige Muster und Farben bei King Louie
So gorgeous – the new lines from Vive Maria – a wonderful vintage and retro label is slowly producing larger sizes but we are still a long way away from my kind of plus sizes. Understandable but still heartbreaking in the case of this top that’ll hit the shops very soon. For the cut, the colours and the pattern are so to my taste. But I got this very pretty bag and something for a lucky reader.
Stop Staring had a stand too at Panorama and for years I have admired their stuff on various websites. Usually they didn’t have my size – they have plus sizes but the smaller ones – my sizes they retail regulary on Modcloth, occasionally on Navabi. Here comes in a great shop – Fruchthaus in Berlin specializes vintage reprododuction or retro, pin up and rockabilly clothing. Bad pic and by the end of the day bad hair and I look exhausted. But the dress (here in black) is great (and the shop dangerous to my bank account) – you’ll see it in it’s full glory very soon for one of my Valentine’s specials!
Bye, bye Berlin – see you in Summer!
GIVE-AWAY! Sorry, shipping to Germany only this time – all you need to do is leave a comment here. It’s the Eau de Parfum „Tropic Cherry“ by M.Asam from Vive Maria. Will pick a winner the old school way next Sunday, February 7th 2016.
When Dolly and Dotty approached me to feature one of their dresses I was very excited. They are a vintage reprodutction brand and my style is vintage and due to my size reproduction for anything apart from accessories. It was tough to pick only one dress – this stripey one caught my eye and this white one would have been an excellent choice to wear to that All White Party at the last Plussize Fashion Days in Hamburg (couldn’t go because of work). I also liked this one with coral – reminds me of a day by the sea side. But there was one in red Tartan, actually two – a v-neck one and this one with the bateau neckline.
Tartan isn’t just wonderful for Christmas (just look at Betty Pamper and her pug Mr. Truffles), it is good all year round. Especially for work. Though this isn’t really a work outfit.
The Sound of Music has a Highland Fling
Almost ten years ago when I lived in the UK I fell in love with Trachten – our German traditional clothing. Most of that is alpine inspired and more a regional thing southern Germany shares with Austria and Switzerland rather than the north. I love the materials – rich wools or felts (though I struggle to wear them), colourful scarves (with or without fringes) and quite often intricate embroidery on Dirndls, jackets or trousers.
So I combined my love for tartans, the Dolly&Dotty dress in Royal Stewart with the alpine look and I really like it. The grey new wool jacket has a traditional cropped style, called Janker in German, the scarf is typical, too. The fascinatoris one of my very own, made by me with vintage tweed and feathers. The traditional style feather hackle was a flea market find. The bag is from Laura Ashley, lovely rough tweed – got it a few years back on eBay, like the vintage tapestry brooches, though I got them more recently.
The dress is made of cotton without stretch. The sizing is according to their charts. Once more I was between sizes. As with most dresses I had the hem shortened and the waist nipped in. I look way too short with a classic midi length and I like to show off my calves. The jacket is a bit on the tight side, hopefully that’ll change next time I feature it here as I need to get a bit more active again. The shoes and tights are dark grey, they look on my screen a bit purple/blue.
So, do you like it?
Special thanks to Gemma from RetroChick – I really liked your Oktoberfest outfit and your advice!
The Sound of Music has a Highland Fling
The pattern matches nicely at the seam Das Muster ist an der Naht gut zusammengeführt
The circus has come to town. More precisely the fahion circus to the (Germany) capitol. And so did I. First day was an easy one at the Curvy (used to be Curvy is sexy). I was there before in July 2015. It wasn’t that exciting or breathtaking then, Nor was it today. There were things I liked, things I didn’t and plenty I didn’t care about. I am not very fond of having an „own“ fair for plussize – I wish it was part of the regular fair (wich I’ll check out tomorrow – or at least have a dab).
Not the most flattering pics – but the fabulous Anna Scholz was so full of live (and moving fast) when she talked about her latest collection for sheego – lots of 60s/ 70s boho vibes.
I don’t use the term an inspiring women (or human) easily, but she is. Anna looks as fab as her collection (and in her latest collection). So here is me beside her a bit star struck and looking not at my best (but who cares).
And even the designer isn’t too proud to take pics of her own collection – Anna Scholz is in the lower right corner.
some impressions
Can’t make anything wrong with a wrap dress – once more from Anna Scholz..
That Sheego sailor shirt is seriously cute (and „vintagy“ enough for moi).
Ohhhh, and flamingos from Studio Untold – might even might buy another pyjama – even without having to go to the hospital again!
Ok, though this winter is lacking somewhat around here in cold temperatures – it is time to post this wonderful jacket by Collectif Clothing. I promised that to Froilein Olivia some time ago. Marianne is part of a suit and Hackey Rose’s blogpost is to die for – she has this in pink though. Though I love pink, I thought it would be too sweet and I got this set in green for silly money in the sale. I couldn’t size up the skirt – and that is why you won’t see it on moi (at least for a while). It fits like a glove, or rather as we say in German like a saussage in skin („Wurst in Pelle“). Not an extra layer – but am quite stuffed to the brim. Anyway – it is still a great jacket and looks good and wintery.
The jacket is made with fake fur. Worn here with a vintage (real) fur set. The mini hat is reclaimed mink and was a dowdy cap before I made this fascinator out of it. The brown inlay is a fur brooch, also dating from the 1950s or 1960s.
With closed eyes – but a good view of the fascinator!
The parents and I went to the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn – for an art exhibition. Matching the Japanese theme were the decorations in the cafe. Pics inside were not allowed.
On the way to celebrate Christmas with the family. With my showstopping Bernie Dexter Winterwonderland Dress. I think I look like a Christmas angel.
It twirls ranter nicely (and gives you the chance to admire the jacket in 360 degrees!
Inside and outside. My first Erstwilder brooch – I fell in love with that saussage dog (and a few others). You might have recognised the dress from last year.
