Despite best laid plan life happens – what was meant to be my anniversary/ valentine’s day outfit will now wait for another date – literally. But it would be a shame to let this occasion go to waste. Anyway this year valentine’s day coincides with carnival AND guess what I’d rather wear and do – yep, don a costume and party. Rather than celebrate a hallmark holiday. Though as cheesy as that sounds this year it would have also been an anniversary! Ach well, enough said – you are here for the outfits.
I got this wonderful Boden dress in the January sales. It dropped from something like 270 EUR down to 70 EUR (including postage). It is brocade or jaquard and the pattern is woven not printed. I thought it would be a tribute to Jaqueline Kennedy. But I don’t channel that – I feel more like Joan Holloway of Mad Men in it. Not bad, eh?
Paired it with different tights and I think it is funny, but the bordeaux ones make the dress look a bit more reddish/ brown and with the black tights, the black base is emphazised. It really brings out my hourglass figure – though that doesn’t come across that well on the pics. The earring situation still isn’t solved to my liking. Am wearing my Grandmother’s pearls. Would prefer something more dangling. The handbag is from my other Gran and passed down from my Mum.
Not my usual lipstick – but cheap and cheerful from H+M „Audrey“ – a bit darker and slightly more bluish than MAC’s Russian Red. Still a very velvety look.
Love the richness and the many layers of the dress. Six colours and doesn’t look garish! The silly little necklace is from Claire’s usually too low hanging for my taste – but think it works with this dress – since I don’t havve a pen/ stylo-necklace like Joanie in Mad Men!

Trotz bester Planung schlägt immer mal wieder das Leben zu: das war eigentlich mein Valentins/ Jahrestag-Outfit. Nun, es scheitert nicht nur am Datum, dieses Jahr ist das zu Karneval (das feiere ich lieber als einen Feiertag der Floristen und Kartenindustrie), sondern auch am jetzt Ex-Privatleben. Genug der Jammerei – ihr seid hier für die Outfits – es wird noch genug andere Gründe geben, das Kleid zu tragen!
Ich habe dieses wunderbare Boden Kleid im Januar gekauft. Es war von ca. 270 EUR auf 70 EUR (inklusive Versand reduziert). Es ist aus Brokat (oder Jaquard) und gewebt und nicht bedruckt. Ich dachte es wäre eine Hommage an Jacky Kennedy. Aber an mir kommt der Look nicht rüber. Ich fühle mich mehr nach Joan Holloway aus Mad Men. Auch nicht schlecht!
Mit unterschiedlichen Strumpfhosen kombiniert, kommen die Farben unterschiedlich heraus. Mit den weinroten wirkt die Basisfarbe bräunlicher. Meine Taille kommt auf den Bildern nicht gut rüber – aber das Kleid bringt meine Sanduhr-Form gut zur Geltung. Die Ohrringe sind noch nicht ganz das was mir vorschwebt. Aber sie sind von meiner Oma. Ich hätte gerne etwas, dass etwas mehr herunter hängt. Die Handtasche ist von meiner anderen Oma und habe die von meiner Ma bekommen.
Nicht mein üblicher Lippenstift – sondern schön für kleines Geld „Audrey“ von H+M. Etwas dunkler und etwas mehr ins Blau gehens als MAC’s Russian Red. Aber auch sehr samtig im Look.
Ich liebe den luxeriösen schweren Stoff und seine Vielschichtigkeit. Sechs Farben und es sieht trotzdem nicht bunt aus! Die alberne kleine Halskette ist von Claire’s. Meist ist die mir zu lang, aber hier passt es – schliesslich habe ich nicht wie Joanie in Mad Men eine Stift-Halskette!
