It is finally time for a maritime look– in pastel colours and a cheerful yellow dress. Like so many other things the dress was in storage for a while and has been on this blog before for Ladies Day at the races in Krefeld.
Es ist endlich Zeit für einen Marine-Look– in Pastellund mit einem fröhlichen gleben Kleid. Wie so viele andere Dinge war auch dieses Kleid lange im Keller. Es war auch schon mal auf diesem Blog zum Besuch auf der Krefelder Rennbahn.
Wedges are pretty, but sneakers and a hands-free bag are much better for a day of sightseeing.

No Cruise for Me – I went hiking instead and my parent took the „steamer“ a bit further down stream. However – together we went to the Weser-Skywalk. A viewing platform 80m above the river and its valley.
Keine Bootsfahrt für mich – ich bin wandern gegangen während meine Eltern etwas weiter flussabwärts eine kleine Rundfahrt gemacht haben. Wir sind dann aber zusammen zum Weser-Skywalk gefahren. Knapp 80 Meter über der Weser in ihrem Tal.
Vertigo – is the very good excuse for a rather crooked smile. The viewing platform is see-through and was definitely out of my comfort zone!
Höhenangst – ist der Grund für ein recht schiefes Lächeln. Durch den Boden des Aussichtsbalkon kann man durchsehen. Definitiv ausserhalb meines Komfortbereiches!

I love cherries. The edible kind. Fake ones on hats. Fabric ones on patterns. And gingham. And so I was smitten when Collectif brought out this version of their Kiana dress.
Ich liebe Kirschen. Die essbaren, Früchte wie Gummitiere. Falsche auf Hüten. Aufgedruckt auf Stoff. Und Vichykaros. Und so war ich ziemlich hin und weg als Collectif diese Version ihres Kiana-Kleids herausbrachte.
Like cherries and gingham this crochet (or macramee?) bag also screams summer. It is true vintage and a cute little bag.

I love to wear this dress. Since tugging is never sexy – I am glad I don’t think like I am exposing too much cleavage. I had a cherry necklace but I think I gave it away. It would probably be too much anyway.

My very first Cowboy Boots – despite growing up in the 80s these are my first Cowboy boots. Leather with leather lining and woven leather with embroidery. Plus an uncharacteristic zipper for a fit close to the ankles. Excellent quality – they are at least 3rd hand.
Meine allerersten Westernstiefel – auch wenn ich in den 1980gern aufgewachsen bin, sind das hier meine ersten Cowboystiefel. Leder, mit Ledergefüttert und gewebtem Leder mit Stickerei. Untypisch mit Reissverschluss, für eine schmalere Silhouette am Knöchel. Gute Qualität, mindestens in dritter Hand.

Viva Mexico! Yep no BBQ, but sometimes life alters best made plans. The TequilaRia (website only in German) has scrumptious Mexican food (and drinks) – I went as a starter for the Sopa de Lima – the seriously hot Yucatan lime soup and had to have the Nachos Tapas as a guilty pleasure (with beef and chicken undder the cheese). Do come hungry.

My hay-rides are on my bike though, cycling around in the countryside. Sans rolling through the hay. That day took a friend and me through more than 50k of Münsterland and I managed to find the only hill available for miles.
Meine Heuwagenfahrten finden(mittlerweile) mit dem Rad statt. Durch die Landschaft. Ohne sich im Heu zu rollen. An dem Tag sind ein Freund und ich über 50km durchs Münsterland gefahren und ich habe den einzigen verfügbaren Berg zum Tagesziel gemacht.

A fun summer dress and perfect for cycling. Another day on the Roman-Lippe River-Route – though not in consecutive stages. Last Saturday we cycled from Hamm to Lünen. Plenty of ice cream this time. There is a lot to explore. Sometimes one just needs to look. Wildflowers and meadows on one side and industry and power plants on the other.

Letzen Samstag sind wir von Hamm nach Lünen geradelt. Diesmal gab es ausreichend Eis. Es gibt viel zu entdecken. Manchmal muss man nur hinschauen. Wildblumen und Wiesen auf der einen Seite und Industrie und Kraftwerke auf der andern.

This was supposed to be the start of a month of Maritime Fun. But the very morning these pics were taken, I decided against it. Usually I go with the parents in June to the seaside. Plenty of time to take (and wear) maritime looks. However not this year. This year I go cycling with a friend (and a new part of team Kittenheel) in my own state. Exploring new routes. So you get a bit of country, some pics from along the routes and even summer fuit.

Last year I bought a few things at Miss Candyfloss – this stunning yellow raincoat, a skirt that was first too small, then too large and always too long for me – and mermaid skirts can’t be shortened too much – and this pretty gingham blouse.
Letztes Jahr habe ich ein paar Dinge bei Miss Candyfloss bestellt – diesen spektakulären gelben Regenmantel, einen Godetrock, der mir erst zu klein und dann zu gross war – und diese Fischschwanz-Form lässt sich schlecht kürzen – und diese aparte Vichykaro-Bluse.
This look is more for relaxed walks and with the pencil skirt quite useless on the bike. Bag, sunnies and later in the evening the red seakers stayed. The bag was probably some promotion item. I got it cheap and second hand. I like the fun rual scene.
Das ist ein Outfit, das gut geeignet ist für entspannte Spaziergänge oder Landpartien mit dem Auto – mit dem Rad macht der schmale Rock wenig Sinn. Die Tasche und – später am Abend – die roten Turnschuhe durften bleiben. Die Tasche war wahrscheinlich ein Webegeschenk. Ich habe sie preiswert gebraucht gekauft. Die ländliche Szene macht Lust auf Biergärten.
Yesterday we cycled 46k at an easy pace. The Roman-Lippe River-Route. Lots of wheat fields, small rivers, ponds, lakes and most places we cycled through were really small. So small that we had to change our route to get an ice cream.
Gestern sind wir ganz entspannt 46k gefahren. Eine Etappe der Römer-Lippe-Route. Viele Kornfelder, Bäche, Teiche und natürlich entlang der Lippe. Die Orte durch die wir kamen waren so klein, da gab es keinen Eisbecher am Weg – also haben wir die Strecke etwas angepasst.
Pencil skirts and bikes are not a good combination. Besides it was quite warm, so I changed after the pics into this check Lindybop dress. It has been on this blog before – in for a Midsummer by the sea and in Winter around my Christmas tree.
Bleistiftröcke und Fahrräder sind keine gute Kombination. Ziemlich warm war es auch und so habe ich mich nach nach den ersten Bildern umgezogen. Das Lindbop Kleid war auf diesem Blog schon zu Mittsommer am Meer und war auch eine gute Wahl am Weihnachtsbaum.
Contrary to my cycle companion I don’t wear a helmet. But on such a nice summer day I went for my hydrangea fascinator. It looks ace with red and white.
Im Gegensatz zu meinem Mitradler trage ich keinen Helm. Aber an so einem schönen Tag durfte der Hortensien-Fascinator mit. Der passt hervorragend zu Rot und Weiss.

Time to join the ladies from the ü30 blogger network for this month’s theme „Hobbies“ – so apart from the obvious – blogging or (vintage) fashion and accessories, I cycle and go on hikes and to round it up I am particitpating in local politcs.
Es ist Zeit sich den Ladies der ü30 Bloggerinnen (und Friends) anzuschliessen – Thema des Monats sind „Hobbies“ – abgesehen vom offensichtlichem – dem Bloggen bzw. (Vintage) Mode und Accessoires, gehe ich wandern und radfahren und runde das Ganze mit ehrenamtlichem Einsatz in der Kommunalpolitik ab.
So, back to the regular hobbies – cyling. This is #derFahrrad (the Bike, but in mock German) – he gets out and about on a weekly basis with his chum on the left. Currently at 40-50k tours.
Zurück zu der Sache mit den Hobbies – das ist #derFahrrad. Er bekommt recht viel Bewegung. Mit seinem Kumpel RoN (dem Rad ohne Namen) zur Linken geht es einmal die Woche auf Tour. Momentan sind wir bei 40-50k.
In and after pulmonary rehab I started walking against my Asthma- I try to go at least for 5k and a proper hike of 12-15k once a week. I had a few set-backs – in March my knee wasn’t too impressed with the amount of walking I did and I struggeld with fatigue syndrome for 3 weeks (!) after my second Covid-vaccination. I am a rare case. Yayh – not.
In und nach meiner Asthma-Kur habe ich angefangen im wahrsten Sinne dagegen anzugehen. Ich versuche ca 5k am Tag zu gehen und einmal die Woche 12-15k zu wandern. Es gab schon ein paar Rückschläge – wegen des Knies im März und nach meiner zweiten Covid-Impfung hatte ich wieder drei Wochen (!) mit Fatigue / Erschöpfungssyndrom zu kämpfen. Ich bin ein seltener Fall. Hurra. Nicht.
A good deal of my free time is spent with politics – I am on the local council for the conservatives – the CDU (Christian Democratic Party). Top: at the womens association and below at the podium speaking during Thursday’s council session. Ten years ago I became involved in politics. It was quite a life changer.
Politisches Engagement beansprucht einen recht grossen Teil meiner Freizeit. Ich bin für die CDU im Rat der Stadt Bochum. Das obere Bild war neulich beim Landesdelegiertentag NRW der Frauen Union und unten am Donnerstag bei der Ratssitzung. Vor 10 Jahren habe ich damit angefangen und mein Leben hat sich dadurch sehr verändert.

A few years back after years of insecurities I realised wearing shorts isn’t the end of the civilised world as we know it. So if it’s hot wear them. And wear them like it is the most normal thing to do – which it actually is. The black shirt isn’t for modesty by the way but to prevent sunburn.
Nach langen Jahren voller Unsicherheiten habe ich irgendwann beschlossen – die Welt geht nicht unter wenn ich Shorts trage. Zieht sie an wenn es heiss ist! Und tragt sie als wäre das völlig normal, denn das ist es auch. Das schwarze Hemd ist auch nicht da um meine Arme zu kaschieren, sondern gegen die Sonne.
In case you wonder why I am standing like this – I had a nasty insect bite on my right knee. But yeah – you can see big thighs and chunky arms and – so what? The only thing that bothers me is the playsuit is a bit tricky to open and close. That either requires my very own version of yoga or a friendly hand to (un)zip me.
Falls ihr euch wundert warum ich so da stehe – ich hatte am rechten Knie einen fiesen Mückenstich. Ansonsten – yep – kräftige Oberschenkel und dicke Arme – na und? Das einzige was mich dabei wirklich stört ist, dass der Playsuit etwas schwierig zu öffnen und schliessen ist. Das löst entweder Yoga für Fortgeschrittene aus oder bedarf freundlicher Unterstützung.

Gut getarnt auf dem Hintergrund mit den Blättern ist der wunderschöne Thermoset-Schmuck aus den 1950ger oder frühen 60ger Jahren mit einer Halskette, einem Armband und (nicht abgebildet) Ohrclips. Die Sonnenbrille mit dem Farbverlauf habe ich letztes Jahr bei vinted, damals noch Kleiderkreisel entdeckt und die Monsterblätter-Ohrringe dieses Jahr bei Etsy.

I love this kitschy and fun tropical delight theme. Today you get a Hell Bunny sarong pencil dress with a printed pattern of bamboo sticks, pink and purple orchids, and green leaves on a cream coloured background. I bought it last year in the sale but it was from the 2016 summer season. With the Aloha clutch there is definitely a bit of tiki here.

Welcome back to a month of tropical delight and a touch of tiki. This jumpsuit is one of my favourites at home. Comfy, breezy and it still looks quite elegant. I paired it today with some bamboo bangles, my pineapple jewellry and pointy leopard print flats.
