Tropical Delight – Tiki Goes Shorts (with give-away)

Welcome back to my month of tropical delight – celebrating tiki and exotic vibes. I love this kitschy and fun theme. There is a small give-away for my readers living in Germany: a pair of pineapple earings. In sparkly yellow and green rhinestones.

The olive shorts have been a few times on my blog – today with a crisp gingham blouse and new old exotic heels. Not really comfy but a good look. The very pointy tips scream early 2000s.

Look one features my new Vendula beach or tiki bar bag from the 2019 season. The bag is small – but large enough for my rather phone, my chunky keyring, my wallet plus lipstick and asthma spray. The details of the bag are once more amazing – like on my sushi grab bag or the bikeshop box bag.

Give-Away: the pineapple earrings are fun – if you want to win them and you live in Germany – you have to leave a comment on my blog before 22.06.2020 with the words „Toast Hawaii“ and I’ll draw quite old school style the winner and announce her at the end of the month on my blog.

I bought the tiki shorts set in 2016 for a lark. It was on sale. So much fun to play with different variations. I bought the handbag in Valencia, Spain in 2004. Only 4 more years and it is vintage.

The 16th returns this time with #TropiCool. The challenge in July is tropical. Like my own motto for the month #TropicalDelight.Today with a leafy or palm print.

J’ai trouvé la robe chez ASOS. Pendant les soldes d’hiver. Oui.
I found the dress at ASOS. During the winter sales. Yes. In February. With a perfect print for hot and humid weather. The material isn’t however. It is still very good for not so scorching days and balmy nights. Like the black jumpsuit a dress made to party.

I am smitten with the asymmetric neckline. And for once I don’t have the impression I am spilling my cleavage onto the table. I feel very sexy in this dress without feeling exposed.

Two looks for one challenge. A relaxed look with that bright pink shirt for a BBQ with friends, a beach bar. The other one is quite formal. Part of my retro skirt suit from Dolly & Dotty.

Tropical Delight: Happy Parrots

Welcome in June. This month in early summer is dedicated to a classic: tropical prints. With a bit of Tiki (south pacific inspired kitsch) here and there. Palm prints, parrots, fruity accessories. Watch this space!

Though I don’t really like the heat and my body isn’t made for it, I seriously enjoy exotic prints. I love the colours on of the dress: turquise background with dark and sage green foliage and the parrots (macaws) and flowers in a strong yellow and orange.

The cardi is an old familiar on this blog and teams well with my cacadoo dress from PinUp Couture. The brutalist abalone/ paua brooch is a real vintage piece from the 1960s. Both the fascinator and the suede heels are from 2013 and for the first time featured on my blog.

You will see quite a bit of these bracelets this month – trust me I wear them even more often! They are by French Curves founder Gaëlle Prudenico’s wonderful (wax) Ibiloba line and come in 2 widths – I am wearing the narrower one. Made in Dakar, Sénégal from with traditional (wax cotton) patterns. I love the mix and can’t wait to get my first skirt.

Tropical Tiki Time

It’s hot and it’s humid. So what is closer to pick a matching theme for a challenge in one of my favourite Facebook groups. I was allowed to pick the motto, as I won the last round.

So: out with the flower chains, tropical patterns. Hawaii shirts. Palm leaf prints. A bit of exotic. Flowers in their hair. A bit of travel bug. A bit of nostalgia. Tiki, tropical or exotic became the theme.
Also: Blumenketten raus, tropische Muster. Hawaii Hemden. Palmblätterprints. Ein Hauch Exotik. Blumen im Haar. Eine Priese Fernweh, Reise-Exotik, vielleicht sogar etwas Nostalgie. Tiki, tropisch oder exotisch wurde das Thema.

It didn’t have to be straw skirts or coconut bikinis. The contributions could just be Pimms with a few accessories. A look for every day. An outfit for the beach. And even in your favourite bar. For a barbecue with friends.

I bought the sunglasses quite cheap and never really knew what to wear them with until now. The necklace is from the recent blogpost Beach Body.

And the ladies met the challenge. Which wasn’t a simple one. But I think we all had our fun. The contributions were very creative. The spectrum was great. Winner was Birgit Zwick. With Tiki Tucan Airlines. Simply stunning.
Kein einfaches Thema. Ich glaube wir alle hatten unseren Spaß. Die Beiträge waren kreativ. Ich fand das Spektrum großartig. Gewonnen hat Birgit Zwick.  Mit Tiki Tucan Airlines. Einfach nur toll.

I moved my blog post for the challenge back. This dress (and bolero) were actually two. In my own size it was way too small and even in the larger, the biggest size it was still too snug.

For a purchase price of €15 I send me the the one or the other back. I brought them to my tailor to make one out of two. Even if you know this is hard to spot.

Summer and pools are always a good idea – even if the pool is the beach, by the lake, a river or a lido. When the sun shines mercilessly and the heat danses on the tarmac I love to go for a dip (or even swimming) to cool me down. Outside the pool I prefer to stay in the shade.

This is my much loved traditional bathing suit. Last year I found a very pretty and retro bathing dress. Super cute outside the water. Wet like a sack. Not good in currants either. And when I leave the water it don’t just dribble the amount of water looks more like beaching a whale.

The playsuit is from LindyBop. I was a bit scared when I ventured out with it to the pool. I went by bus. But small children didn’t cry, teenies didn’t laugh and I even got a „hello sexy“. The top is meant to be knotted. Didn’t like that look on me and with 4 friendly safety pins it is now a fitted crop top.

On the Go: Cacadoos & Parrots – Tropical Pin-up

got this awesome dress for myself as a birthday present. Took a while to take it out as the hem had to be taken in and it had to be proper summer, too. This beautiful number is Pinup Girl Clothing’s  Alfreda dress in Hawaiian parrot print.
