Tuesday = Shoesday – Bastilleday & Marie Antoinette

Joyeux quatorze juillet! Happy Bastilleday! Bring out your inner Marie Antoinette with these slippers. Sweet as candy and decadent. Too pretty to stay at home. Yet I don’t know yet what to pair them with. I’d love them with a stripey hostess skirt and cigarette pants. A grey tweed shift dress and pink tights. Or a gorgeous shiny pink taffeta prom dress.

Joyeux quatorze juillet!

OOTD Berlin, Berlin – Curvy Fashion Fair

So, I did my hair and the make-up and went for a killer outfit, I hired the bike a day before at some obscure Tourist trap (albeit a cheaper one than usual). The room and the train tickets were booked well in advace. I was ready to go to the Curvy fashion Fair that is part of Berlin Fashion Week. Best laid plans and all that: after a serious dry spell there was a torrential rain in the morning, however when I left on the bike for the ca. 6k ride it was once more dry. Not dry enough aas it started to rain a bit again.

Then the bike chain came off and nearly threw me off the bike as it clogged the hind wheel. So prissy missy fixed that in a tick – with the result of having very sticky black fingers. As I was almost done I was even offered help by a rather nice gentleman. Who didn’t want to make is hands dirty but offered me the assistance of their mechanic or craftsman. So, good manners aren’t dead yet!

When I arrived at the fair I was a sweaty mess with sticky fingers and wet hair. Thanks to hand dryers where I blow dried my hair (after successfully cleaning my hands) – I looked representable again.

The fair was more or less as expected. And there will be another post about that. I met quite a few (fabulous) bloggers and was surprised how many recognised me or my name. I had a ball!

Ladies Day – Renntag mit Hut

Germany isn’t England – but still we got horse races over here. It was Ladies Day in Krefeld at the venerable Rennclub. A beautiful ensemble from 1912. As Ladies we got a welcoming voucher for a glass of bubbly and an invite to the annual hat contest when we got there. We already started the journey with my favorite pink cremant on the train and the mood on arrival was bubbly. However the weather was not.

The three of us had a stroll around and opted for a table overlooking the finish line at the restaurant area. Service was excellent, the food good and surprisingly reasonably priced. A huge salat with shrimps was 9 EUR, the mouthwatering potato soup a fiver.

Our partaking in the hat contest was unsuccessful, but we still got lots of compliments elsewhere. Had a better hand with my betting – it makes the races so much more exciting to watch. Lacking in depth knowledge (and there are many examples that prove that doesn’t help that much either) – we picked out horses by looks, names or colours. So, from the five races where I bid an Euro each on six horses, I gained 7,40 EUR. Yes, I might buy myself an ice cream today from my whopping wins!

We didn’t attend the fashion show but since I asked, two (well, there is always one that doesn’t want one) of us got those badges afterwards. The press speaker (who serioulsy looked a lot like Cameron Diaz) from the race course not only found two more, she even found us at our box. Was it a grand day out? You bet!

The only lucky sign I didn’t wear was a horse shoe.
We didn’t win, but I was given the first contestant number for the hat competition.

Toll! Hatten wir einen grossartigen Tag? Ja, darauf konnte man wetten!

Huhu Uhu – Owl be there

Imagine Kinder-eggs with clothing minus the chocolate and you get Modcloths „Stylish Surprise“. I managed to get four altogether – two dresses and two „apparels“ (in my cases tops – both a trip to the more recent past: 80s and 90s styles). Anyway – dress number one is a hoot! A pretty pattern with happy owls. Pretty enough to wear it for the rest of the day!

Tuesday = Shoesday: Kittenheels

1950s chic for spring. Cheap and cheerful Deichman has a new kittenheel. Black and white with a geometric pattern. Heelhight is 6,4cm. Shoeform is pointed. I am very tempted. Though around the office we got cobblestone. Stilettos, even short ones are easy prey for the gaps.

Tuesday = Shoesday – Strawberry Heels forever!

Initially I wanted to feature my „spring“ boots today. Beige, suede knee highs – but the weather is grim today, so we are all in for a treat. Happy strawberries to cheer me (and you) up on this glum day. I fell for these Funtasma heels back in 2010. Somewhow they cost silly over here and there was an opportunity to get them from the states (via the parent’s of one of my best friends) at a fraction of the price. The heel is high, I love the mini-platform, even though personally I think platforms don’t add any elegance to your walk. At least for me they are not for walking. They don’t have to. But they are fun. They don’t get out and about a lot. I tend to wear them with grey dresses and grey tights.

Oh deer, oh deer! Forest friends Accessories

I love kitsch, be that quirky patterns, souvenir stuff or other fun things. I love to combine a plain grey tweed dress with wacky accessories to give it an edge. Picture time today with my forest friends! Apart from the button and teh Earrings I found the remaining jewellry on ebay. Socks are from Marks and Spencer, the heels from T.U.K.

#FrenchCurves: Graou – a Touch of Leopard

Quite often love isn’t easy. I adore leo prints – but that love is somewhat unreturned. Head to toe on me that is a splendidly bad idea! However if I limit myself to accessories it works really well. The inspiration for this outfit comes from the fabulous Dita von Teese wearing an emerald green dress and a leopard clutch and from Marylin Monroe in „Gentlemen prefer Blondes“. I have a leo clutch as well, but the muff works much better with the velvet scarf and the heels!

Shopping with Miss Kittenheel: Spring Dresses

Hello lovlies,

I discovered a few pretty, shiny dresses I’d love to share:

Voodoo Vixen’S Connie Dress in red with a retrolicious cat eye glasses pattern. Ca. 90 EUR, excl. shipping. I got a similar style in pink with cats, which will be featured soon! Get it quick, these go fast especially in the largest size. Do a site search for Voodoo Vixen at Simply Be, they got more!

Voodoo Vixen Connie Dress | Simply Be

Cute as hell is the Beatrice Dress from Boden. Become the apple of everyone’s eyes! Sold out in a generous EU48 on the German site, but still available on the UK (they also ship abroad), ca. 120 EUR.

„Apple“ Dress

And another one I find most adorable and have been wondering if I should get it. But some of the reviews suggest it might be a tad bit too revelaing for most days for my taste. Make up your mind yourselves. The plate pattern is quite quirky. ca. 90 EUR.

Pretty in Pink and at a bargain price is this cutie from Dorothy Perkins. Get it for 20 EUR!

I was naughty yesterday and bought 5 minutes after it popped up this cherry dress by Hell Bunny. It’ll arrive next Friday. Sigh. Like a few of us I just LOOOOOOOVE cherry prints. They are trickier to come by in plus sizes than polka dots. Including shipping I paid ca. 75EUR. I got this on Ebay from a seller called Bedlamauctions. Sold out already in 4XL/ 22UK. According to Hell Bunny’s Facebook page it’ll soon hit the shops (and more Ebay sellers).
Update: Try Tiger Milly on Ebay.co.uk. They just got the lovely cherry dress!

Good hunting and lots of fun!
