I am quite excited – Pin-Up Fashion Magazine made me their Style of the Week. And trust me I am in good company with gorgeous ladies like Miss Lilly Ann and MeinVorgestern. So if you fancy a peek in to my closet (and my handbag) – have a look at their interview (in German).
Ich bin noch ganz aufgeregt – das Pin-Up Fashion Magazine hat mich als Style of the Week vorgestellt. Ich befinde mich da in sehr guter Gesellschaft, wie zum Beispiel Miss Lilly Ann und MeinVorgestern. Recently on a whim I dyed my hair pink again. For my flamingo dress and because I wanted to do it again. Pink hair is fun. It is fading now but here are a few picks as a pink lady. Not as pink as last time though! But I just dyed over my middle blond.

Neulich habe ich mir die Haare nochmal pink gefärbt. Für mein Flamingo-Kleid und einfach so. Weil es Spass macht. Es verblasst gerade wieder, aber hier sind ein paar Bilder als es noch frisch war. Nicht so Pink wie beim letzten Mal, aber diesmal habe ich einfach nur mein Mittelblond überfärbt.

Die entzückende pinke Tasche ist von MyPepita. Genau wie Birgit von Charming Curves habe ich die zu einem reduzierten Preis bekommen. Mir gefällt die Tasche total gut, sie ist nur leider einen Hauch zu klein um mein iPad reinzubekommen UND die Tasche zu schliessen.

German Curves: Frühlingserwachen + Giveaway

German only this time – though it is a more daring recreation of a look I wore many years ago as an Au-Pair in Paris.

Es ist einmal wieder soweit – heute startet #GermanCurves (auf Facebook und Instagram) mit Frühlingserwachen. Die Vögel pfeifen ihre Frühlingslieder zwar schon von den Dächern, allerdings lassen die Temperaturen noch auf sich warten. Wir Bloggerinnen legen dann schon mal vor – unten gibt es noch die Links zu den Outfit der anderen!

Mich erinnert mein Outift an meine Au-Pair-Zeit in Paris. Das ist schon lange her. So lange, das ich damals kaum dicke Frauen dort sah und es mich vor ein Rätsel stellte wo die wenigen denn was zum Anziehen fanden. Selbst bei H+M gab es noch nicht die Big-is-Beautiful-Abteilung (jetzt H&M+), zumindest weder in Paris noch in Deutschland. Die kam erst ein paar Jahre später. Rettung kam dann in Paris mit einem Care-Paket von meiner Ma und einer Hose und einem Trenchcoat von Neckermann.

Mode von Neckermann gibt es nun auch schon einige Jahre nicht mehr, ebensowenig wie meine alte Lieblingshose. Und dann sah ich eine ähnliche hier – ohhhh, so Pin-Up – aber mal wieder nicht in meiner Grösse erhältlich. Voodoo-Vixen stellt zwar Kleider in Plussize her, hat aber nach meiner Rückfrage noch nicht mal Interesse daran in den grossen Grössen ein Penicilkleid herzustellen – da müssen wir gar nicht erst nicht über eine Hose reden.

An der Stelle kommt der MiaModa-Katalog ins Haus geflattert. Als Ü40 gehöre ich zur Zielgruppe. Die Sachen sind eher damenhaft. Allerdings gibt es da auch immer ein paar Sachen die mir sehr gut gefallen. Letzten Sommer dieser Kaftan. Generell immer die 7/8 oder Caprihosen. Das passt gut zu meinem 50s Style. Vor allem diese hier. Gut an mir musste die noch etwas eingekürzt werden. Dafür bekam ich noch genug Stoff für einen Fascinator.

Dieses Jahr will ich mehr Hosen tragen – passt also. Die Glechcheck-Hose ist weich, hat Taschen. Ich liebe das Muster. Die Hose war lang genug um mit Absatzschuhen das Bein zu strecken, aber ich wollte sie ja als Anklegrazer. Also ging es erstmal zur Änderung. Zusammen mit dem Trenchcoat und den verrückten Katzenschuhen ein wunderschöner frühlingshafter Look. Wie das so ist im Frühling, der Geist ist willig, die Temperaturen weniger. Deswegen musste noch ein Pullunder mit ins Boot – lustigerweise ist der, wie das hellblaue Hemd von Neckermann. Eigentlich müsste ich mal wieder nach Paris…

Love Beer for Valentine’s Day – mit Gewinnspiel

Wieder mal nähert sich der Valentinstag – Herzchen, Schokolade, Blumen – viel Rosa, Pink und Rot. Alles ganz romantisch. Ist nur bedingt mein Ding. In England fand ich das ganze Theater sehr absurd. So ganz anders als ein persönlicher Jahrestag, ob mit oder ohne Trauschein. Aber ganz ohne Liebe geht es nicht – wenn auch bei mir nicht mehr fristgerecht, weil ich seit Karnevalssonntag etwas schwächele.

Was lag näher als eine kleine Kooperation mit einem meiner Nachbarn – dem Biermuda. Die Ähnlichkeit zum angrenzenden Bermudadreieck, dem beliebtem Bochumer Ausgehquartier ist nicht zufällig.

Das Biermuda ist laut dem Pottblog, der das Revier recht gut kennt, der erste reine Craftbierladen im Ruhrgebiet. Und das direkt vor meiner Tür. Yayh! Craft Beer nennt man handwerklich gebraute Biere mit Schwerpunkt auf gute Rohstoffe und Rezepturen, kleine Produktionen, Handwerkskunst. Für Max Zellmer und sein Team ist Bier mehr als ein Getränk, es ist Leidenschaft. Hunderte Biersorten gibt im Biermuda, geplant sind bis zu 500 – von klassisch bis Kirsch, Hefeweizen und Schwarzbier, regional und aus aller Welt. Es gibt sogar regelmässige Bierverkostungen. Was zieht man dazu an?

Was mich immer stört ist wie klischeebeladen all die Blumen, Pralinen und die meisten anderen Geschenke zum Valentinstag sind – und halt meist für Frauen. Also hatte ich die Idee das Thema etwas anders zu interpretieren. Ich mag Bier. Die meisten meiner Freunde mögen Bier. Ich verschenke gerne Dinge über die sich andere freuen.

Also hier das Bier zum Valentinstag – Love Beer. Love Beer von Camba Bavaria ist ein obergäriges Weizenvollbier mit Zitrusaromen.

Once more Valentine’s Day is approaching – hearts, chocolate, flowers – lots of pink, rose and red. All terribly romantic. Not really my thing. In England I found the entire affair a bit absurd. So different from a personal anniversary, with or without a wedding band. But it’s hard to go on without a little love. Though I am a little late since I have been a bit under the weather since Sunday.

So what was literally closer than a cooperation with a cherished neighbour of mine – the Biermuda. Yes, it is indeed a pun on the Bermuda triangle around the corner, a very popular quarter for a night out. The Biermuda ist according to Pottblog, one of our local blogging institutions, the first shop entirely dedicated to craft beers in the region. Right in front of my doorstep, Yayh! Craft beers are usually small, traditional or special beers with a focus on good ingredients and recipes. For Max Zellmer and his Team beer is more than just a drink, it is passion. They got already hundreds of beers, planned are up to 500. Classic to cherry, whites and stouts, regional products and those from all over the world. There are regular beer tastings too. I wonder what to wear to one of them?

What riles me about Valentine’s Day are the majority of the cliché ridden presents, the flowers, chocolates – usually and traditionally for women. So I prefer a different angle. I like beer. Most of my friends like beer, a lot of them are Germans after all. I like to make presents that are enjoyed. So here is the beer to Valtenine’s Day – Love Beer. For a few years I hoped this one will be a bit more quiet. I’ll try to make a start with my dresses. Though I love my novelty prints, they make it tricky to combine them with accessories to give them different looks. Still, you’ll see a few more of these prints this year, too – flamingos, dogs and hopefully cowgirls.

Seit einigen Jahren hoffe ich immer das das nächste ruhiger wird. Dieses Jahr fange ich zumindest mit meinen Kleidern an. Auch wenn ich auf meine „Novelty Prints“ – tja, wie nennt man die auf Deutsch – graphische Muster trifft es nicht ganz – also meine Hunde-/ Katzen- und Landschaftsmuster – nicht verzichten mag, sind sie schwierig mit anderen Accessoires zu neuen Looks zu kombinieren.

#GermanCurves: Mit Schwung (und Cocktails) ins neue Jahr – mein Style für 2016

Dieses Mal ist das Motto für die #GermanCurves „Mit Schwung ins neue Jahr – mein Style für 2016“ – also gibt es jetzt mein Silvester Outfit – das mit den guten Vorsätzen für den Blog kommt dann schwungvoll erst im neuen Jahr. Denn TLDR (TooLongDidn’tRead – quasi zu lang zum Lesen) ist auch doof. Soviel vorweg – nächstes Jahr kommen: mehr Hüte, mehr Hosen, mehr Business. Crazy Muster bleiben. Wollte die zwar etwas reduzieren – aber beim ersten Anlauf hat das noch nicht so ganz geklappt. Habe mir prompt das schöne Weihnachtskleid, das Megabambi neulich gezeigt hatte bestellt – ok, und was mit Flamingos. Weil: kostete das ja gleiche Porto 😉

Heute: Cocktails mit Schwung

In mein heutiges Kleid habe ich mich verliebt als LindyBop einen kleinen Schnipsel davon hier zeigte. Ohaaa. Meins! Oder? Es hat auch „nur“ zwei Monate gedauert bis es dann auf die Webseite kam (gibt es auch in schmal geschnitten). Wenn das nicht (Silvester) Party ruft…

So, mein Hütchen ist auch mal wieder selber gemacht – mir gefiel ein Glitzer-Top bei H&M sehr gut – aber nicht nur saß es etwas (hüstel) spack – Lurex und ich werden wohl in diesem Leben keine Freunde mehr, denn bei mir kratzte das wie verrückt – ich vertrage auch Wolle aus den gleichen Gründen schlecht (leider). Tjoa – es hatte allerdings doch sooo schön geglitzert. Für den Preis habe ich dann beschlossen es nicht umzutauschen, sondern einen Satz Fascinator daraus zu machen – für meine Runde zu Silvester. Einer von vieren ist auch schon fertig. Nur die Katzenbrosche für Pam kommt wohl nicht mehr rechtzeitig.

This time #GermanCurves are under the motto „Full of Verve into the New Year – my Outfit for 2016„. For now you’ll get my New Year’s Eve Outfit – the resolutions will follow early next year. TLDR (TooLongDidn’tRead – for those of you who struggle with acronyms) is never good or helpful. So much for now: more hats, more pants, more business. „Crazy“ or rather novelty pattens remain. I planned to tone them down a bit – but that didn’t quite work out as planned when Megabambi showed this pretty festive dress, ok – so I also ordered for the same postage the one with the flamingos – guilty as charged!

Today: Cocktails full of Verve

I fell in love with today’s dress when LindyBop posted a snippet here. Ohhhhhh. My precious! Don’t you think? It „only“ took two months to become available on site (you can get a wiggle version, too). If this doesn’t scream (New Year’s Eve) Party – I don’t know…

Ohhhh, flache Shuhe und da es momentan ungewöhnlich warm ist, reicht wahrscheinlich das karierte Tuch um das Feuerwerk zu bestaunen (und anzuzünden)!
Ohhhh – flat shoes and since it’s war I might get away with the plaid scarf to watch (and light) the fireworks!

Anyway, the fascinator is once more made by moi. I really liked a sparkling top at H&M. However not only was that a bit tight (coughing dicretely here) but also itched like hell (not one for pure wool einther – sigh). But it was sooo sparkly. Not one to sneer at glitter I decided to keep it and turn it in to fascinators for the gals and me for NYE. One of four is already done. Only the adorning cat brooch for Pam won’t make it in time.

LindyMail – und noch ein Winter- Weihnachtsoutfit!

Ok, this isn’t the twelve days of Christmas – check out Retrochick’s blog – her very own challenge with Christmasssy outfits are my daily joy. I have a few festive outfits of my own (like this Bernie Dexter Winterwonderland dress and it’s variation). This is look number four – the snow queen. Still on sick leave I put on some lippy and dragged my sorry self, MontyDerMops and my bestie to the postboxes around the corner to make a few shots to take part in the LindyBop Christmas competition with pose No. 3 – #LindyMail. I thought my best chances were with this entry but I won the #LindyBauble challenge with a red and white outfit in a completely natural Pin-Up Pose.

People were staring somewhat befuddled – somehow they wondered about this strange lady (me) posing next to the postboxes. Don’t think they realised my bestie made pics with my iPad. Ach, whatever. I didn’t win the #LindyMail competition – but check out the other entries – especially that cat is soooo funny!

And this is also my contribution for this month’s challenge of Plus40Fabulous – a lovely group created by Leah from Just Me, Leah and Mookie from Mookie’s Life. You can find them (or rather us) on Facebook and Instagram.

This look isn’t just festive but it also works nicely in January or February (though without the lantern brooch). I got that 1950s vintage brooch from Wunder-Same – she has lovely stuff in her shop!

This is MontyDerMops – Monty, the pug. Contrary to other people my pet isn’t a handbag sized dog but a dogshaped handbag. This FuzzyNation animal (sorry, they closed their shop – but check them out on Amazon or eBay) isn’t very roomy but has been a trusty companion since 2009. I fell in love with him two years before on a flight out to Paris in Manchester Airport.

I was gutted when I found these shoes a few days later. Sigh – they would have been perfect. The grey tweed fascinator is the one and only hand made Christmas presie for the friend who takes a lot of my pictures (the position of the Instagram husband is still open ^^). And the tartan one is a surprise but not a Christmas present 😉

Miss Santa – noch ein Weihnachtsoutfit

This is my first contribution to a LindyBop customer photo competition for #LindyBopChristmas on Instagram based on three vintage postcards – this is pose No.1 #LindyBauble. I just feel like Miss Santa in that charming outfit. I make quite a darling little helper, don’t I? And I come with different outfits too – have you seen this and this yet?

Dieses Outfit ist mein erster Beitrag für den LindyBop Kunden Weihnachtsbilder-Wettbewerb mit insgesamt drei Vorlagen aus alten Weihnachtskarten auf Instagram. Das hier ist Pose Nr.1 #LindyBauble (Bauble = Weihnachtskugel). Ich komme mir darin wie Miss Santa vor – so könnte ich doch direkt beim Weihnachtsmann in der Werkstatt anfangen – oder? Und ich habe auch schon was zum Wechseln – ihr kennt schon die anderen Outfits – das hier und das?

Ok – not quite the pose – but currently that is not such a good idea.
Nun denn – ganz die Pose habe ich nicht getroffen, aber das ist im Moment auch noch keine so gute Idee.

Some charming Christmas bling – the bracelet still needs an extention. The lantern will be featured in a few days in another outfit post. Unfortunately the security clasp of the tiny spray brooch is broken – recently that happened to a few of my ebay finds. Hmpf…

Etwas Schmuck um mit dem Baum zu Weihnachten um die Wette zu glitzern – das Armband braucht noch eine Verlängerung. Die Laterne war heute nicht zu sehen, dafür aber in ein paar Tagen bei einem anderen Outfit. Leider ist der Sicherheitsverschluss der kleinen Blütenzweigbrosche defekt – etwas was mit in letzter Zeit öfters mal bei Ebay passiert ist. Hmpf…

Ice Princess returns – Hell Bunny Trixie Coat Daywear

Last year I teamed up my Hell Bunny Trixie coat with white. Lots of white. This is a less cartoony look. A bit snow princess for everyday. It is still a striking coat. I got it when it came out in winter 2014/2015. You can get it much cheaper now on Amazon. It is also available in pink, but I don’t like that with my blonde hair. Too sweet. Wayyyy too sweet. My next post will be my contribution for Curvy Christmas on December 8th – can’t wait!

Letztes Jahr habe ich meinen Hell Bunny Trixie Mantel mit Weiß kombiniert. Viel Weiß. Dies hier ist ein weniger auffälliger Look. Der Mantel ist immer noch ein Hingucker. Ich musste ihn letztes Jahr unbedingt haben, als er herauskam. Jetzt gibt es ihn wesentlich preiswerter bei Amazon. Sogar in rosa, aber das ist mir mal t meinen blonden Haaren zu süß, um nicht zu sagen, zu süßlich.
Mein nächster Beitrag ist dann endlich mein Türchen bei Curvy Christmas am 8.12 – ich freu mich schon so!

November was rather turbulent – I went with friends to the trot races, the second godchild got finally christened, one of my pics got shared by eff your beauty standards and I was sick for most of the month inbetween. Because of that one of the outfits isn’t posted yet. Can you spot it? Anyway – bring on December!

Der November war recht turbulent – erst ging es mit Freunden zum Trabrennen, das zweite Patenkind wurde endlich getauft, eines meiner bilder wurde von eff your beauty standards geteilt und ich war immer wieder mal dazwischen krank. Deswegen hat sich auch ein noch nicht veröffentlichtes Outfit in die Übersicht eingeschlichen. Wisst ihr welches? Anyway – Zeit für den Jahreswechsel!

This is the autumnal version. You can never go wrong with a beret and I just love the tweed heels. I already have an idea how to pull off a winter look in this one, too. Dieses Ensemble aus Rock und Oberteil habe ich bei ASOS curve im Sommerschlussverkauf erstanden. Die Kombination hatte ich schon auf meinem Blog gezeigt als ich damit in Südfrankreich war. Dies ist die Herbstversion. Mit einem Barett kann man nichts falsch machen und ich liebe diese Absatzschuhe aus Tweed. Ich habe auch schon eine Idee für einen Winterlook. Wie tragt ihr eure Sommerkleider in den anderen Jahreszeiten?
