NYE: Rockets and Sequins – Raketen und Pailletten zu Silvester

New Year is lurking around the corner and it is time for another party outfit. Or rather two. I bought the dress in February 2018 and it has waited for a while to be altered. I’ll be used soon in a mermaid costume. So watch this space.

Das neue Jahr steht kurz bevor und es ist Zeit für ein weiteres Partyoutfit. Das Kleid habe ich schon im Februar 2018 gekauft und es hat etwas gedauert bis es seinen Weg zu meinem Schneider gefunden hat. Bald wird es hier einen Auftritt als Teil meines Meerjungfrauen-Kostüms haben.

A sequin dress is hard to dress down but I like the combo with the lumberjack shirt. The rocket has been on this blog a few times. I love it for New Year’s Eve and trips to the planetarium.

Ein Paillettenkleid ist nicht gerade einfach etwas lässiger zu kombinieren – aber ich mag es zusammen mit dem Holzfällerhemd. Die Rakete war schon einige Male auf meinem Blog zu sehen. Ich liebe sie für Silvester und Besuche im Planetarium.

The second look is more formal. Something I’d wear to the cabaret or a nice party. As things are NYE will be at my place again. As it’ll probably me and my best friend we’ll skip the usual raclette and make something hot and spicy.

Der zweite Look ist etwas formaler. Etwas für Kabaret oder eine schicke Party. So wie es aussieht findet Silvester dieses Jahr wieder bei mir statt. Da ich vorraussichtlich alleine mit meiner besten Freundin feiern werde gibt es nicht das übliche Raclett sondern etwas richtig, richtig scharfes.

Elf Yourself: Pudding Tights

A fun look for the office in December. I really like the festive tights. it is a Christmas pudding pattern but to most Germans it looks like roasted apples. I bought the tights from YoursClothing and when I googled them to see how others wore them I discovered the manufacturer: Pamela Mann.

Ich mag mehr als nur etwas Kitsch in der Advents- und Weihnachtszeit. Deswegen war ich auch sehr angetan von der gemusterten Strummpfhose. Eigentlich sind es englische Christmas Puddings (mit Vanillesauce) aber die meisten Deutschen erinnert es an Bratäpfel. Ich habe die Strumpfhose bei YoursClothing entdeckt und als ich danach gegoogelt habe um zu sehen wie andere die kombinieren, habe ich den Hersteller gefunden.

And altough my pudding tights are sold out there, there is a whole section of Christmas tights to explore. And not just Christmas ones. I bought two pairs in a different size and I hope they’ll fit. A blackwatch tartan and some cartoon pattern. But they haven’t arrived yet.

Auch wenn die Puddingstrumpfhose ausverkauft ist, gibt es auf der Webseite von Pamela Mann eine ganze Sparte mit Weihnachtsmotiven. Aber auch mit vielen anderen tollen Mustern. Ich habe mir zwei in einer anderen Grösse bestellt – einmal in einem grünen Schottenkaro (Blackwatch) und mit einem Comicmuster. Ich hoffe die passen auch, aber sie sind noch unterwegs.

Christmas Pudding vs Roasted Apples

This year my tree is a happy mix of red, white, green and pink. The roadmaster bus was a little gift I got last night. I hope you like it.

Dieses Jahr ist mein Baum ein fröhlicher Mix aus Rot, Weiss, Grün und Rosa. Den Bus habe ich gestern geschenkt bekommen. Ich hoffe er gefällt.

Curvy Christmas: Nutcracker Dress

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The markets are open and my tree is up. I love to have the tree up for the full four advent Sundays. It is soo dark and grim this time of the year.

Es weihnachtet sehr. Die Märkte haben wieder die Fussgängerzonen eingenommen und mein Baum ist auch schon geschmückt. Ich liebe es meinen Weihnachtsbaum schon in der ganzen Adventszeit geschmückt zu haben. Es ist um diese Jahreszeit so dunkel und ungemütlich.

This dress is from last year’s LindyBop Christmas collection. I bought it in the boxing day sale. Each year I host a St. Nicolaus party – this year it’ll be a few year’s before Christmas. And this will be the dress I’ll wear.

Das Kleid habe ich letztes Jahr im Sale bei LindyBop gekauft. Jedes Jahr findet bei mir eine Nikolausparty statt – und dieses Jahr werde ich dieses Kleid tragen.

With the cute an comfy the red slippers. Possibly with a more kitsch headband. I found a colourful lametta one but the red berry one is lovely, too.

Dazu werde ich die süssen und bequemen Pantöffelchen mit den rosa Bonbons tragen. Wahrscheinlich werde ich dazu aber einen anderen Haarreif tragen – ich habe noch einen mit Lametta gefunden. Auch wenn die roten Beeren auch schön sind – aber ich habe das Gefühl dieses Jahr ist mehr Lametta.

Silvester – Skyline Dress meets with Jilsen Boots + NYE Glam

The year is almost over – it is time for New Year’s Eve outfit No.2: once glammed up with a rose gold top an a day version with a lumberjack blouse and widecalf boots sponsored by Jilsen.
Das Jahr ist fast vorbei – es ist Zeit für meinen Silvester-Look Nr.2: einmal schick mit einem rose-goldenem Paillettentop und eine Streetstyle-Version mit einem Holzfällerhemd und Weitschaftstiefeln vonJilsen.

I love boots – especially in winter. These have a classic look and very sturdy heels that won’t get stuck in the paving. They can easily do boho as well as elegant. It is my second pair of Jilson’s boots. My other pair are classic black riding boots.
Ich liebe Stiefel – besonders im Winter. Diese haben einen klassischen Look und robuste Absätze, die nicht in Pflasterfugen stecken bleiben. Diese Stiefel passen sowohl zu einem rustikalen Look aber auch zu eleganten Outfits und sind mein zweites Paar Stiefel von Jilsen. Mein anderes Paar sind klassische schwarze Reiterstiefel.

Did you see it? There is a golden „Happy New Year“ tiara that gets completetly in my hair.
Schon entdeckt? Da ist eine goldene „Happy New Year“ Tiara, die komplett in meinen Haaren verschwindet.

NYE – Galaxy Quest zu Silvester

What are you doing New Year’s Eve? This is a good look for a nice party, the theatre or if you just feel like sprucing up. I’ll be gathered around a raclette with a good friend, two of my godchildren and family. 
Was macht ihr zu Silvester? Das hier ist ein schöner Look für eine schicke Party, fürs Theater oder wenn es einfach mal etwas eleganter sein soll. Dieses Jahr werde ich ich mit zwei meiner Patenkinder, guten Freunden und Familie um ein Raclette gesellen.

I wore this look to this year’s Christmas do with the conservatives in the council. We got a tour of the Zeiss Planetarium Bochum by the dedicated Prof. Susanne Hüttemeister. The local planetarium is one of my favourite attractions in the region.
Dieses Outfit habe ich dieses Jahr zur Weihnachtsfeier der CDU-Fraktion im Rat getragen. Wir bekamen eine Führung durch das Zeiss Planetarium Bochum von der sehr engagierten Prof. Susanne Hüttemeister. Das lokale Planetarium ist für mich eine meiner liebstem Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Region.

Curvy Christmas: Jolly Holly

Last Christmas Helly Bunny introduced this beaty of a dress – and it became quite a hit. Probably not only due to the lovely pattern but also because of the 3/4 sleeves. I loved the impeccable Miss Amy May in it and loved CiCi Marie’s fairy-like look with the holly headpiece from Alternate Normality.
Letztes Jahr hat Hell Bunny einen gute Wurf mit seinem Weihnachtskleid gelandet. Das lag wahrscheinlich nicht nur an dem entzückendem Muster sonder auch an den 3/4 Ärmeln. Ich habe die grossartige Miss Amy May darin bewundert aber auch die zarte  CiCi Marie mit ihren traumschönen Bildern und einem Haarschmuck von Alternate Normality.

Marlene Dietrich is one of the style icons of the 1930s. It was her (and Kathleen Hepburn) that made long wide trousers socially acceptable for women.
Marlene Dietrich ist eine der bekanntesten Stilikonen der 1930er Jahre. Sie war es (und Kathleen Hepburn) die lange weite Hosen (sogenannte Marlene-Hosen) für Frauen gesellschaftsfähig machten.


My Marlene pants are from the 2015 blogger collection from Studio Untold. A bit tight though.

Just in case you wonder about the cactus brooch – one of my favourite songs sung by Marlene Dietrich in the 1939s western „Destry Rides Again“.
Die Brosche erinnert mich an eines meiner Lieblingslieder von Marlene Dietrich im 1939ger Western „Der grosse Bluff“.

‚Deborah‘ and ‚Dolores‘ are from Frl Else’s new summer collection. Inspired by original designs of the 1930s. ‚Noblesse Oblige‘  is a hommage to this glamourous time. I LOVE thos pineapple pants!

On the Go: GeekStyle – Day of the Dachshund

Last installment for this month’s theme #GeekStyle – it’s the day of the Dachshund.It is my kind of animal print – yes, with actual animals on it. Last time you saw the shirt on this blog was in september 2015 for a round of Oktoberfest Craze. Which is strange as I wear it quite regulary.
Die letze Runde des Thema des Monats #GeekStyle – der Tag des Dackels. Meine Art animalprint – mit ganzen Tieren! Auch wenn ich es sehr mag und regelmässig trage, gab es das Dackelhemd auf meinem Blog das letzte Mal im September 2015 für eine Runde Heimatliebe zu sehen.

I got brooch Spiffy the sausage dog in the same year for Christmas. It doesn’t get as much mileage as I thought it would but I still love the silly little Erstwilder brooch.
Im gleichen jahr habe ich dann Spiffy, die Dackelbrosche zu Weihnachten bekommen. Ich hatte gedacht ich würde sie öfters anziehen, aber ich mag die Erstwilder Brosche sehr.

This is a look I wear to the office. A bit preppy, a bit excentric. I’d even wear that to a casual planning meeting with my favorite architects. The black bag is my staple handbag for meetings and have worn it to all my job interviews.
Das ist ein Look den ich tatsächlich  zur Arbeit trage, sogar wenn es zu einer entspannten Planungsbesprechung mit meinem Lieblingsarchitekten geht. Ein bisschen preppy, ein bisschen exzentrisch. Die schwarze Tasche nehme ich ganz oft mit zu Besprechungen und hatte sie bei allen meinem Vorstellungsgesprächen dabei.

Trendfarbe 2018 – Ultra Violet – ü30Blogger & Friends

Pantone hat wieder eine Farbe des Jahres ins Rennen geschickt – Ultra Violet. Letztes Jahr was das Greenery. Das warme Grün war mehr meines. Trotzdem mag ich Lila, Purpur oder Violett. Eher die wärmeren Töne. Ultra Violet is kalt.
Pantone picked another colour of the year – ultra violet. Last year it was greenery. I liked the warm green a bit better. Still I quite like purple, violet and lilac. But more the warmer shades. Ultra Violet is cold.

Die Farbe Lila steht oft für das Mystische und Geheimnisvolle. Für Kreativität. In der Kirche findet sie Einsatz zu Advents- und Fastenzeit. Letzteres passt doch ausnehmend gut. Karneval ist gerade vorbei. Lila ist auch die Farbe des Feminismus – und auch das passt gut zu mir.
The colour purple is often used within a mystic or mysterious context. For creativity. The Church uses it during Advent and Lent. Quite matching since carinval is just less than a week ago. Purple is also the colour of suffrage and feminism. And that is befitting, too.

Geek Style in Ultra Violet

Mein eigenes Thema diesen Monat ist Geek Style. Dazu passt das eigenwillige Lila sehr gut. Der deutsche Farbname Lila kommt übrigens vom Flieder (Lilas), via Spanien und Frankreich. Das Wort Violett kommt Veilchen. Das fand ich auch sehr passend und habe meine Veilchenbrosche herausgesucht.
My own theme this month is geek style. The headstrong violet works quite well with that. So does the vintage brooch with violets.

Die Karobrosche hat mit den Keulenärmeln einen sehr viktorianischen Touch, das Kleid erinnert mich an die Schuluniformen und die Krawatte an das King’s College in Cambridge und mehrere Besuche in der traditionsreichen Universität Stadt.
The gingham blouse with the mutton chop statement sleeves has quite a victorian touch, the pinafore dress reminds me of school uniforms and the tie of King’s College in Cambridge and a few visits to the venerable university city.


Mehr in Lila gibt es bei mir hier mit dem winterlichen Brokatkleid und dieses Jahr wird der Mantel mit den violetten Pfauen auch einiges an Auslauf erhalten – zumindest wenn es bald wieder wärmer wird.
