Time to join the ladies from the ü30 blogger network for this month’s theme „Pretty as a Picture (Whimsical Looks)“ – the other ladies told me piece of cake for you – but I wasn’t sure. But since I got myself a new hat for my birthday from Mein wunderbarer Hutsalon I thought I’d show that. And so that it isn’t just a treat for me the lovely Ricarda who created it decided to give a little back to you!

Such a pretty chinoiserie pattern and the batik fill gives additional depth. That pattern definitely fits the bill of poetic, dreamy or whimsical.

Whimsical – my Dutch bike (without gears) is quite romantical at least for a bike – I got it to take part in Tweed Rides but since I am a bit fitter I enjoy more and more riding it for fun and because I can.

Romantisch – eigentlich habe ich mir die Gazelle, ein Hollandrad ohne Gangschaltung zugelegt um an Tweed Rides teilzunehmen – allerdings seitdem ich wesentlich fitter bin fahre ich sie auch mal so ganz gerne, einfach weil ich es kann.

Happy End with Tomatos

You should have met Vickie ages ago – I bought that lovley dress 5 years ago in Berlin. And it never really fitted. Eventually it ended up in storage. In March I decided to give it another go and now it finally fits.

Eigentlich hättet ihr Vicky schon vor Jahren kennenlernen sollen – ich habe das Kleid vor 5 Jahren in Berlin während der Fashion Week gekauft. Aber es hat halt nie gepasst. Irgendwann landete es sogar im Keller im „Archiv“. Im März habe ich es dann wieder hochgeholt und mittlerweile passt es!

A proper Mad Men wiggle dress good enough to channel your iinner Joanie Halloway. And it even looks good with sneakers, Initially I wanted to pair it with leopard like in my tribute to Dita or with the charming lily of the valley hat. But I prefered a slightly more edgy approach with my Frollein von Sofa tomato hat, and other dabs of red.

Ein echtes Mad Men Kleid um die innere Joanie Halloway hervorzubringen. Und es sieht auch gut mit Turnschuhen aus. Eigentlich wollte ich es mit Leopard wie in meiner Hommage an Dita von Teese oder mit den fröhlichen Maiglöckchen kombinieren – aber ich fand es so etwas spritziger.

That hat is a fun showstopper. Unfortunately the fake tomatos are a bit heavy – so it doesn’t get the mileage it deserves. Quite a contrast to the cheap and cheerful tomato brooches.

Dieser kleine Hut ist eine ziemliche Rampensau – leider sind die Tomaten etwas zu schwer und so sind eine Ausflüge nur kurzer Natur. Die lustigen (und preiswerten) kleinen Tomatenbroschen machen einfach nur Spass.

Matching beret – so mus more appropriate for this May that tries very hard to pass as an autumn month and not the end of spring.

Mit passendem Barett – genau die richtige Kopfbedeckung für einen Mai der sich besser im Herbst aufgehoben fühlt als am Ende des Frühjahrs.

Das ist ein Bild vom März 2020. Noch kann man hier nicht drinnen im Restaurant sitzen und essen. Die Betsy Johnson Hot Sauce Tasche ist aber immer noch der heisse Scheiss.

Muttertag – Check meets Lily of the Valley

Happy Mother’s Day – at least in Germany and the US. Quite fitting my favourite hat from the quirky Frollein von Sofa gets another go on this blog. 8th time actually. In France the classic gift for mother’s day are muguets – indeed that is the French name for lily of the valley.

Einen wunderschönen Muttertag – zumindest in Deutschland un den USA. Sehr passend dazu heute mein Hut der wunderbaren Frollein von Sofa. Heute zum achten Mal (!) auch meinem Blog. In Frankreich sind Muguets – also die Maiglöckchen die Blume der Wahl zum Muttertag.

Dieses Jahr gab e auch einen neue Maiglöckchenbrosche. Mit beweglichen Blüten.

Those were actually a gift. I was ever soo chuffed. And I used the vintage flowers a few years back for this almost bridal outfit.
Die Maiglöckchen gab es geschenkt und ich war super happy. Die hübschen Blümchen haben ein einen Look geziert mit dem frau jederzeit aufs Standesamt gehen könnte.

Street-style – the dress after a day in the office. I overstrained my knee so I wore this not so sexy elestic bandage for a while and had to reduce my walks quite a bit for more than 4 weeks. Didn’t like that – but my bike frolliced. Cycling was ok for the knee.

Alltagstauglich – das Kleid nach einem Tag im Büro. Ich hatte i März leider mein Knie etwas überlastet und dann musste ich mich etwas schonen und die nicht sonderlich schöne Bandage tragen. Fast vier Wochen musste ich meine Spaziergänge ziemlich runterfahren. Mein Knie und das Rad haben sich gefreut. Fahrradfahren ging ziemlich gut.

I still need to get used to the new me. Not just because of the weight loss but also the bit with the sneakers. They are super comfy, my walk is so much more dynamic and faster. But it looks different. My knee definitely prefers that. And I decided a few weeks ago that I think it looks pretty cool.

Ich muss mich noch etwas an das neue mich gewöhnen. Nicht nur wegen dem Gewichtsverlust sondern auch wegen der Turnschuhe. Die sind super bequem und ich gehe wesentlich dynamischer (und schneller). Aber es sieht halt ganz anders aus. Mein Knie findet es mega. Und auch ich finde es mittlerweile ziemlich cool.

Beim grossartigen Terry Pratchett war die richtige Antwort um die Aufnahmeprüfung bei den Mönchen des guten Stils aufgenommen zu werden „was auch immer ich aussuche“. DAS!

For ages I drooled over the wiggle dresses from Collectif from afar. Now I fit into their largest size. Although the sizing is a bit odd. I have now 4 of their dresses and despite they are all wiggle dresses all fit a bit differently. Still – big ove for this one and it even has pockets!

Lange, lange Zeit habe ich nur die Bleistiftkleider von Collectif im Netz angehimmelt. Jetzt passt mir die grösste Grösse. Auch wenn die Grössen ziemlich unterschiedlich ausfallen. Ich habe jetzt 4 Kleider von denen und alle sind etwas anders bemessen. Trotzdem grosse, grosse Liebe – und das Kleid hat sogar Taschen!

Pretty in Paisley (and Tweed)

Something old and nothing new. I have worn that teal blue dress around my 40th birthday. That was nearly 8 years ago. I don’t recall when it stopped to fit. But that was more than 6 years ago. It waited a long time in my basement. The two latest things that came to me are the cat brooch and the rainbow wristlets. Though those are used ehhh 2nd hand.

Etwas altes und eigentlich nichts wirklich neues. Ich habe das petrolfarbene Kleid zu meinem 40ten Geburtstag getragen. Das ist fast 8 Jahre her. Ich erinnere mich nicht mehr so ganz daran, wann es nicht mehr passte. Es hat einige Jahre im Keller ausgeharrt. Die letzten Zugänge in diesem Look sind die Katzenbrosche und die Regenboge-Armstulpen.

In my respiratory rehab I had a (mandantory) adipositas talk with one of the psychiatrists in residence. At the end she suggested I might try different shoes – for more, easier more dynamic walking. And yeah – those sneakers rock. To be honest I’ll get some more in different colours.

In meiner Asthma-Reha hatte ich ein Adipositas-Gespräch mit einer der Psychologinnen vor Ort. Am Ende gab sie mir mit es mal mit anderen Schuhen zu probieren. Welche mit denen man mehr, bequemer und dynamischer gehen kann. Und ja, Turnschuhe sind grossartig. Ich werde mir noch welche in mehr Farben kaufen.

ü30 Farbe Bekennen – Eisprinzessin – Frozen Flowers

Time to join the ladies from the ü30 blogger network for this month’s theme „Farbe bekennen (Showing your Colours)“ – I love light and soft colours in winter. Not the most practical. The the short jacket was on my blog before in 2015. I have lost quite a bit of weight on my way to get in better shape because of my asthma and a nice side effect is I fit again in many things from my storage.

Es ist Zeit sich den Ladies der ü30 Bloggerinnen (und Friends) anzuschliessen – Thema des Monats ist „Farbe bekennen“ – ich liebe helle und weiche Farben im Winter. Nicht sonderlich praktisch wenn es draussen matschig ist. Die kurze Jacke war schon mal 2015 auf meinem Blog. Ich habe ziemlich viel Gewicht verloren, dadurch dass ich wegen meines Asthma ständig wandern und spazieren gehe. Ein angenehmer Nebeneffekt ist, mir passen wieder viele Sachen, die ich vor Jahren in den Keller verbannt habe.

This was a look for one of my Saturday night vintage accessory show and tell party on zoom. With the pretty thermoset necklace and matching bracelet. My highlight for Saturday night. Though for most it is in the afternoon – apart from the Australian who has her morning tea.

Diesen Look habe ich bei einer virtuellen Vintageparty angezogen, die sind das Hightlight meiner Samstagsnächte. Da zeigen wir uns Woche für Woche unsere Vintageaccessoires. Gut, für die meisten ist das Samstagnachmittag und so bin ich die einzige, die einen Absacker trinkt – die Australierin dafür ihren ersten Tee.

A few weeks back I decided to bring back the office back into the home office. Even on my own.

Vor einigen Wochen habe ich beschlossen wieder mehr Office im Homeoffice zu tragen. Auch alleine.

Function wear has still quite an impact. Especially with really cold temperatures. I walk about 60-75k per week. And that does something to a body. I love the freedom. Moving became so much easier

Gerade mit den kalten Temperaturen der letzten Wochen ist Funktionskleidung immer noch etwas was ich ständig trage. Ich gehe jede Woche zwischen 60-75km und das verändert einen Körper. Es ist mittlerweile soviel einfacher geworden sich (oder mich) zu bewegen.

I love the combination with the sturdy boots much better than my other versions of the princess coat from 2014 and 2015.

Ich liebe die Kombination mit dem groben Stiefeln wesentlich mehr als meine Varianten mit dem Prinzessinnen-Mantel von 2014 und 2015.

DressUp – Karneval oder Fasching: Madame la Marquise

Alaaf, Helau und ManTau oder was auch immer euer Schlachtruf zu Karneval, Fasnacht oder Fasching ist. Dieses Jahr ist #Karnevalzohuss angesagt – also feiern zuhause (und nur mit dem eigenen Haushalt plus einer weiteren Person). Für Karnevalisten hartes Brot und egal ob offiziell oder privat unterwegs waren wir kurz vorm krieche (heulen). Für mich gehört der Karneval zum eben, so wie Weihnachten – nur halt mit mehr Spaß. Trotzdem kein Grund das Kostüm im Schrank hängen zu lassen. Zumal wenn es so gut passt!

Today is the last day of carnival season. It is a bit like halloween but 6 days prior to ash wedesday. Staying at home and not celebrating due to the pandemic was heartbreaking for many of us who celebrate it. For me it blongs to my life, like Christmas – but in fun. So this year it was all at home, no parades or parties. Still no reason not to dress up – especially when the costume fits so well!

Madame la Marquise – klassisch, das Ensemble bestehend aus Rock und Oberteil wie gekauft mit rotem Dreispitz und senfgelber Strumpfhose und roten Schuhen. Es erinnert vom Schnitt etwas an meine schwarz-silberne Piratin von 2018.

Variante in der Hosenrolle – besser für draussen und am Zug. Die Stiefel machen sich gut im Schnee und sind richtig bequem. Schon mein zweites Paar. Ich gehe im Moment sehr, sehr viel spazieren und da sind die toll.

Variation as Principal Boy or Breeches Role – much better for outdoors waiting for the parades. The boots are ace in mud and snow. It is already my second pair. I walk most evenings for 3-4 miles and they are ace for that.

Berliner satt – ob mit Eierlilör, Baileys, Vanille-Erdbeer, Kirsch, Schoko oder ganz normal – ebenso die Benennung ob als Krapfen, Pfannkuchen wie in der Hauptstadt oder Berliner.

Donuts galore – ok, so they are not quite donuts or doughnuts – we don’t make ours with a hole in them. And there is a controversy about the name as they have different names in different regions or even cities in Germany.

SchnippSchnapp Krawatte ab! Der Brauch zu Weiberfasnacht die Krawatten abzuschneiden muss warten. Dann erst wieder nächstes Jahr…

Snap Snap the tie is off! A tradition to show that the world oder is upside down and the ladies have taken over for a day. A monstrous regiment of women and the first day of carinval in the streets.

ü30 Blogger & Friends: Karo – Country Check

Time to join the ladies from the ü30 blogger network for this month’s theme „Karos (Check/Plaid or Tartans)“ – I think they are neutrals, like stripes. I love my plaids, even neutral ones. So for today I chose a set I haven’t shown yet – the pants are too large these days and in the basement storage now, the skirt will soon go the same way. The sweater is originally a Christmas one – but I think it still works fine as winter wear in January and Fabruary.

Es ist Zeit sich den Ladies der ü30 Bloggerinnen (und Friends) anzuschliessen – Thema des Monats ist „Karos“ – für mich sind Karos neutral, so wie Streifen. Ich liebe Karos, sogar welche in neutralen Farben. Heute habe ich ein bis jetzt ungezeigtes Set für euch und etwas neues. Die Hose ist mittlerweile in den Keller gewandert und der Rock folgt ihr bald nach. Der Pullover ist eigentlich aus einer Weihnachtskolletion – ich finde aber der geht auch gut als Winterlook.

Comic Print in Big and Small

This is a long term poject my friend Deborah and I wanted to show for quite a while. We both liked and bought the same skirt. Both in our size. I had mine shortened from the top (and the tailor made masks from that). Deborah is wearing the skirt in the original calf length (a real midi).

Das hier ist ein Projekt das meine Freundin Deborah und ich schon länger geplant hatten. Wir beide fanden den Rock mega und haben den gekauft. Jede in ihrer Grösse. Ich habe meinen (vom Bund aus) kürzen lassen (und der Schneider hat aus den Resten Masken gemacht). Deborah trägt den Rock in der originalen wadenlangen Länge (ein echtes Midi).

Hello Roy Lichtenstein – Hallo PopArt

Sometimes you got to treat yourself and I finally bought myself a vintage milkstone bracelet and matching brooch.

Manchmal muss man sich was gönnen und ich habe mir zum Ende des Sommers endlich ein Set aus einer Milchglasbrosche und -armband gekauft.

Different parties (Deborah is SPD and I am officially conservative) – but both in black for the first session with the newly elected council.

Unterschiedliche Parteien (Deborah ist in der SPD und ich bin offiziell konservativ) – aber beide in Schwarz zur ersten Ratssitzung der neuen Wahlperiode.

But all democrats should be anti-fascists.

Alle Mitglieder demokratischer Parteien sollten eigentlich Antifaschisten sein.

Matching masks are pretty cool – especoially if it is really the same material. As said before I had the hem raised and with the left over fabric my tailor made two masks – one for Deborah and one for me.

Passende Masken sind ziemlich cool – vor allem wenn es wirklich der gleiche Stoff ist. Wie zuvor gesagt, mein Schneider hat aus den Resten zwei individuelle Masken gemacht. Auch in zwei Grössen – eine für Deborah und eine für mich.

In case you have seen more recent pics – yes, in rehab I started to walk quite a bit. I still do and have lost quite some weight. Not to increase my fuckability but to get fit. Breathing was such an issue for me for most of 2020. So being able to walk longer and longer distances is super elating.

Falls ihr die Tage anderswo über aktuelle Bilder gestolpert seit – ja, in der Reha habe ich angefangen viel zu gehen bzw. zu wandern. Nicht um meine fuckability aufzuwerten, sondern um fit zu werden. Atmen und ordentlich Luft zu bekommen war 2020 für mich keine Selbstverständlichkeit. Immer längere Strecken (und mittlerweile auch ohne Pause) gehen zu können ist mega motivierend.

Weightloss sounds great – and it is so much easier to do sports now – but it makes things on this blog a little tricky now. So watch this space. This skirt works well in 1-2 dress sizes smaller. The jacket doesn’t fit that well – even with a slightly moved button. I need to dig out an old black one from my basement storage.

Abnehmen klingt auf den ersten Blick super – und es ist sooooo viel einfacher so Sport zu machen – aber es macht Dinge auf dem Blog etwas schwieriger. Der Rock passt auch noch gut mit 1-2 Kleidergrössen weniger. Das Jackett ehr nicht so – auch wenn ich den Knopf etwas versetzt habe. Ich vermute die Tage muss ich nochmal in den Keller gehen und schauen ob ein altes, kleineres schon wieder passt.

Golden October – wo Fuchs und Hase sich gute Nacht sagen

A happy and healthy new year – and an older unpublished set. This is a tribute to the immaculate vintage blogger Christine aka the Glambassador and her wonderful OcTIEber. Wearing ties in October.

Ein frohes und gesundes neues Jahr – und ein älteres unveröffentlichtes Set. Das hier ist eine Hommage an die wunderbare Bloggerin Christina aka Glambassador – nicht nur ihre Make-Ups sind immer makellos. NYE: Home Stories Suzie Wong Style

Another year over. Miss Kittenheel as a blog is in it’s 7th year. So for the 7th year’s itch and since there is a pandemic out there you get another home story at the end of the year. The ensemble is one of quite a few things I bought for home wear this year from Shein. Comfy – and yet not dowdy – actually all are rather glamorous.

Wieder ein Jahr um. Miss Kittenheel befindet sich als Blog im siebten Jahr. Das verflixte 7. Jahr ist nicht ohne und da wir immer noch in einer Pandemie leben, ist der diesjährige Silvester-Look einer für Zuhause. Dieser Zweiteiler ist eines von mehren Outfits, die ich mir dieses Jahr bei Shein als Homewear gekauft habe. Bequem, alle stylish und glamourös.

The set is insired by a cheongsam or qipao. It was orgninally cut more loose. In the 1920s it became more fitted and glamorous. This one isn’t made of silk or brocade it is in a stretchy polyester. Which makes it great to chill out in at home.

Das Ensemble waurde von einem Cheongsam oder Qipao inspiritiert. Ursprünglich waren die nicht ganz so figurbetont geschnitten – aber in den 1920ger und 1930ger Jahren wurden sie glamouröser und mondäner. Meist aus Seide oder Brokat gefertigt – allerdings mein Set ist aus einem stretchigem Polyester. Grossartig um auf dem Sofa zu chillen.

The yellow pearl luxulite brooch – like its red sister – is an old favourite. Especially on a vivid pattern.

Die gelbe Perlenbrosche von Luxulite ist wie ihre rote Schwester – eine alte Favoritin. Besonders auf einem unruhigem Muster.

The Chinese tourist bracelet is a 1950s or 60s original.

Das chinesische Souvenir-Armband ist ein Original aus den 1950gern oder aus den frühen 60ger Jahren.

After lots and lots of meat in the last days the red beet in a salt crust with lemon butter were a delightful change. You’ll need a little longer than stated in the link here – I had to doulbe my cooking time. I also mixed an egg and some olive oil into the salt to make it stick better to the beets.

Nach sehr, sehr viel Fleisch in den letzten Tagen war es eine Wohltat die Rote Beete in Salzkruste mit Zitronenbutter zu machen. Ich musste die Garzeit fast verdoppeln und habe noch ein Ei und etwas Olivenöl zum Salz gemischt, damit das besser am Wurzelgemüse klebt.

I won’t hold with Joan Crawford that everything is better with vodka – but I had a Gin Tonic while waiting and made the pics for the blog.

Ich teile nicht Joan Crawfords Meinung das alles mit etwas Vodka besser wird – aber ich hatte einen Gin Tonic als ich auf mein Essen gewartet habe und die Bilder für den Blog gemacht habe.
