It’s the first Sunday of the month and time again for the German Curves. This month it is a theme that really excites me „Fly me to the Moon“. There are many versions of this classic song. The challenge is about metallic, glitter, galaxy prints, silver and futuristic look.

Es ist mal wieder der erste Sonntag im Monat und damit wieder Zeit für die German Curves. Diesen Monat ich ich besonders angetan von unserem Thema „Fly me to the Moon“. „Fly me to the Moon“ ist ein klassischer Song. Bei unserer Challenge geht es aber um Metallic-Effekte, Galaxydrucke, Glitzer, Silber und futuristische Looks.

There is hardly a better place in the Ruhr area for space exploration than Bochum. We got an observatory and a planetarium. The Zeiss planetarium Bochum has an excellent program, modern equipment, a very commited director and her dedicated team. They got a new show this year and I am gutted that I won’t be able to attend the opening night.

Im Ruhrgebiet gibt es kaum einen besseren Ort die Erforschung des Weltalls als Bochum. Wir haben eine Sternwarte und ein Planetarium. Das Zeiss Planetarium Bochum hat ein hervorragendes Programm mit Wissenschafts-, Kinder-, Musik- und Unterhaltungsshows, mit Lesungen und Vorträgen, mit moderner Technik und mit Prof. Hüttemeister eine sehr engagierte Leiterin mit einem tollen Team. Am Dienstag eröffnet die neue Astronomie-Show „Die Wunder des Kosmos“ und ich habe leider andere Verpflichtungen.

Still, despite that the planetarium makes me think of the late 50s, early 60s. The so called space age. The believe that the future will be a brighter, happier and wealthier place. The firm believe in science and progress, in technological advancements. Today an increasing number is sceptic of science, against vaccinations and eager for hairsplitting conspiracy theories.

Und doch erinnert mich das Planetarium an die späten 1950ger und frühen 1960ger. An die Atomzeit. An einen ungebremsten Fortschrittsglauben, dass die Zukunft eine strahlende wird. Voller Wohlstand und Glück und technischer Weiterentwicklung. Heute haben wir eine zunehmende Skepsis der Wissenschaft gegenüber, immer mehr Impfgegner und haarsträubende Verschwörungstheorien.

But science is the very foundation of the comfort and infrastructure we enjoy today. No matter how firm you believe in whatever deity, prayers didn’t give us the Internet, modern medicine or public transport. Although the latter tests my patience on a regular basis.

So when the theme was announced for the German Curves, I instantly knew what I wanted to wear (again). Again? Well, I have worn this outfit for the opening Motto party of Kurvenrausch’s Plussize Days in Hamburg in October 2016. Back then it was „Black, Gold and all that Glitters“.

Als das Thema für den April feststand wusste ich auch direkt was ich (wieder) anziehen würde. Wieder? Ich hatte dieses Outfit zur Eröffnungsparty von Kurvenrauschs Plussize Fashion Days im Oktober 2016 in Hamburg getragen. Damals war das Motto „Black, Gold and all that Glitters“.

The dress is my trusted Audrey this time in black satin. Combined with a galaxy (actually a nebula) loop scarf. Which I always wear to the planetarium. Like here to the festive 50th anniversary celebration or here to the opening of their Jules Verne Show. The petticoat os too short – I just realised that when I edited the pics.
Das Kleid ist mein bewährtes Audrey Kleid – diesmal in schwarzem Satin. Kombiniert mit einem Loopschal im Galaxydruck (eigentlich ein Sternennebel). Den ziehe ich immer an wenn ich ins Planetarium gehe. Wie hier zur 50.-Jahrfeier des Planetariums oder hier zur Eröffnung der Jules-Verne-Show. Das Petticoat ist zu kurz – leider ist mir das erst bei der Bildbearbeitung aufgefallen.

The real showstopper of the outfit is the little retro rocket. I adopted it from Accessorize in Berlin while changing trains to get from one place to another at the Winter Fashion Week 2016. Unfortunately it isn’t roomy at all.
Der eigentliche Hingucker ist die kleine Retro-Rakete. Gefunden im Vorbeigehen während des Umsteigens in Berlin während der Winter Fashionweek 2016. Leider geht da nur wenig hinein.

The shoes are high, even better – they glitter.
Die Schuhe sind nicht nur hoch, sie glitzern auch!

The fascinator with lurex is another one of my own. I made it for New Years Eve 2015/2016. It gets quite a bit of mileage.
Der Fascinator mit Lurex ist einer von meinen Selbstgemachten. Hergestellt für Silvester 2015/2016 gehört er zu den recht oft getragenen aus meiner Sammlung.

I wish I know where I put this bracelet (part of the 2014 Geekchic at the Planetarium Outfit). I got the nagging feeling that I need a replacement. I used to wear it a lot before I put it somewhere safe so that I didn’t loose it.
Leider weiss ich nicht genau wo ich dieses Armband hin getan habe (gehört zum 2014 Geekchic at the Planetarium Outfit) . Ich fürchte ich muss mir das wohl noch mal kaufen. Ich habe es viel und gerne getragen bevor ich es an einem sicheren Ort abgelegt hatte, damit ich es nicht verliere…
