Green Tartan for Christmas

HoHoHo – are you already in a festive mood? The Christmas season is here again. The Christmas market is open and I already had two pinaple skewers covered in white chocolate. No mulled wine yet, though.
HoHoHo – seid ihr schon in Weihnachtsstimmung? Die Adventszeit hat begonnen. Der Weihnachtsmarkt ist eröffnet und ich hatte schon zwei weisse Ananasspiesse. Allerdings noch keinen Glühwein!

Such a pretty dress – I love my tartans, I have this dress in red, too and have shown it on this blog in April with bright greens.
Ein tolles Kleid – diesmal mit einem winterlichen Auftritt. Im April gab es das hier schon mal mit frischem Grün zu sehen – ich habe das Kleid aber auch in Rot.

The fur is vintage – the cuffs are made of an old fake fur scarf. The collar is actually a 1950s blonde mink scarf pinned to my dress.
Der Pelz ist Vintage – die Manschetten sind aus einem alten Kunstfellschal gemacht und der Kragen ist eine weisse Nerz-Krawatte aus den 1950gern.



I sorted my Christmas jewellry. Half the brooches are vintage. All of the earrings are new(ish). The bracelet is my first bit of festive jewellry, bought in 2003.
Meinen Weihnachtsschmuck habe ich schon sortiert. Die Hälfte der Broschen sind alt, die Ohrringe alle „neu“. Das Armband war mein erster Weihnachtsschmuck, gekauft ca 2003.

Guess tomorrow I’ll start operation Christmas tree. So far I haven’t decided if it’ll be the black or the white Christmas tree this year.
Morgen werde ich wahrscheinlich wieder den Weihnachtsbaum hochholen. Bis jetzt weiss ich nur noch nicht ob der schwarze oder weisse Weihnachtsbaum aufgestellt wird.

This was meant to be the November outfit for the French Curves (La Pluie – Rainy Day) – but I struggled this month. Currently I am counting the days till the end of the year. Whenever in the last few months I thought I sorted out one thing out, another thing emerges. Somehow blogging gets a little lost over that.

Fortunately we got Christmas coming up soon. And I LOVE Christmas. Also, I got a few outfits sorted for that! As well as a nice give-away. But for now it is big love with the pretty red Royal Stewart tartan – yes, the one I got in green, too.

And that was supposed to be the look for the French Curves „Rainy Day“.

On the Go: Autumn Colours – Mustard meets Plaid

Autumn is finally here! Talking about survival of the fittest –  the dress got extra pockets, the sleeves are taken in and the buttons are mostly closed for good. I think the waist is too high for my taste but it is nice to have a discreet dress.
Der Herbst ist da!  Zum Thema was nicht passt wird passend gemacht – das Kleid hat extra Taschen erhalten, die Ärmel wurden enger gemacht und die Knopfleiste weitgehend zugenäht. Mir ist die Taille etwas zu hoch für meinen Geschmack – aber es ist schön mal ein unauffälligeres Kleid zu haben.


My friendly, diligent and patient tailor also altered an old mink scarf into a collar. The collar is not permanently attaced to the dress. It is still easily washable.
Mein freundlicher, unermüdlicher und geduldiger Schneider hat dann auch aus einem alten Nerzschal einen Kragen gemacht. Der Kragen ist nur mit Sicherheitsnadeln ans Kleid gesteckt. Es ist also immer noch waschbar.

Happy Blog-Birthday to me. Miss Kittenheel turned 4. it has been quite a ride and I still have bags of fun. At first it was just friends and family that dropped by. Some readers come and go. Others have stayed for a while and others came to stay. And some of you became dear friends. It has been a pleasure.
Herzlichen Blog-Geburtstag an mich. Miss Kittenheel ist mittlerweile vier jahre alt und ich amüsiere mich immer noch prächtig. Zuerst haben nur ein paar Freunde und Familienmitglieder vorbeigeschaut. Leser kamen und gingen auch wieder. Einige sind geblieben und einige wurden zu lieben Freunden. Es ist mir ein Vergnügen.


I am still not tired to think about new looks and themes for my blog. Autumn colours are a recurring theme. Like one of my first looks in mustard yellow. I love the freedom of making my own choices. That this blog is me. Without consideration how much clicks what will bring.
Ich habe immer noch wahnsinnig viel Spass daran mir Outfits und Mottos für meinen Blog zu überlegen. Herbstfarben gehören zu den wiederkehrenden Themen. Wie dieses frühe Outfit in Senfgelb. Ich liebe die Freiheit meine eigenen Entscheidungen zu fällen. Dieser Blog ist komplett meins. Ohne zu berücksichtigen was wieviele Zugriffe bekommt.


I finally bought the dress suit in mustard yellow. I also have this in light blue. The combo is really pretty but it gets hardly no mileage. The yellow is less dressy. The fur cuffs are vintage and have been on my blog a few times, like with the Russian princess look.
Neulich habe ich mir endlich dieses Kostüm in Senf- oder Maisgelb geholt. Ich habe das auch in Hellblau. Das Ensemble ist zwar wunderschön, aber es erhält wenig Auslauf. In Gelb ist das Kostüm zumindest für mich alltagstauglicher. Die Pelzmanschetten sind vintage und waren schon mehrfach auf meinem Blog zu sehen, wie mit dem „Schokolade zum Anziehen“ Look.

French Curves: Jaune vs Orange – (Mustard) Yellow

Cet octobre le thème du French Curves c’est jaune versus orange. C’est sont les couleurs du soleil et de l’automne. Les couleurs des feuilles moururent. Du grand finale de la nature dans notre climat.
This October the theme of the French curves is yellow vs orange. They are the colours of the sun as well as quintessential autumn colors. The colours of the dieing leaves. Of nature’s grand finale in our climate.



Moi j’aime bien l’orange. Comme ici avec mon look minimalisme où l’année dernière avec une tenue chasseuse urbaine. Plus traditionnelle avec les fleurs où plus excentrique avec les flamands.
I really like orange. Such a striking colour. Here with a minimalism look or last year with an outfit for an urban huntress. More traditional with florals or a bit eccentric with jolly flamingos.

Mais le jaune c’est la grande amour. Le jaune pastel, la couleur du miel entre jaune et orange et le jaune moutarde. Les deux tenues vont bien avec mes objets de la famille.
But yellow is true love. From pastel to a honey the with a hint of orange to a deep mustard yellow. The two looks go very well with some heirlooms from my grandmothers.

Et voilà la fièvre parraine d’un bébé garçon. Dans un salle instagramable (et un bon exposition) j’ai pris des photos du bébé et oublie les celles de moi. C’est-ci est grâce à un ami.
And the there is the pic of the baby boy godchild. In a perfectly instagramable room (and a very good exhibiton) I took happy baby pics and somewhat forgot my own. This snapshot is made by a good friend.

Oktoberfest Craze meets Gingham Love

A final contribution to my Oktoberfest Craze series I usually reserve for September. Gingham, checks and tartans work well with a traditional (mock) dirndl look. A real dirndl is still a costly thing despite cheap knock-ups. So this pretty Heidi dress with the deep square neckline fits the bill pretty well.
Das ist der letzte Beitrag für meine Heimatliebe-Serie, die ich im September zeige. Vichy- Schotten- und andere Karos passen gut zum traditionellen (Ersatz-) Dirndl. Ein echtes Dirndl ist immer noch kein preiswertes Vergnügen, vor allem wenn man weiss das Dirndl wir wenig Gelegenheit zum Auslauf haben. Das Kleid mit dem eckigen Ausschnitt ist eine gute Alternative.



I combined the dress with a traditional Russian scarf and a vintage tapestry bag. The floral crown is a cheap one. If you are not going to a country wedding but the fair and the more rustic beer tents.
Dazu trage ich ein traditionelles russisches Tuch und eine alte Gobelintasche. Der Blumenkranz war preiswert. Wenn man nicht zu einer Hochzeit eingeladen ist sondern es auf die Kirmes und ins rustikale Bierzelt geht reicht das auch.

Riviera Dreams: Pink Gingham

I am a very visual person. Not just visible but also visual. For me on most days the world is a veritable feast for my eyes. Imagine the day I really discovered Instagram.
Ich bin ein sehr visueller Mensch. Nicht nur sehr sichtbar sondern auch sehr visuell. Für mich ist die Welt an den meisten Tagen ein Fest für die Augen. Und dann entdeckte ich Instagram.

It had me drooling for days. So much to explore. Sunsets of the world, droolworty food, the cutest cats and awesome fashion. I was hooked. So much perfection. And I was a part of that. Little by little I got disenchanted.
Ich war entzückt. So viel zu entdecken. Die Sonnenuntergänge dieser Welt, wunderbares Essen, die süßesten Katzen und spannende Mode. Ich war angefixt. So viel Perfektion. Und ich war ein Teil davon. Und dann Schritt für Schritt war ich entzaubert.

We live in interesting times. Many signs indicate a prefascist phase. The wording in politics has changed. Out there too. Racism is on the rise. Our society is drifting apart. I still enjoy my blog. And I hope to inspire some of you to live your thing. But Instagram is a little too much like Marie „Let them eat Cake“ Antoinette. It is the perfumed sheep of today.
Wir leben in spannenden Zeiten. Vieles weist auf eine präfaschistische Phase hin. Die Wortwahl in der politischen Landschaft hat sich in den letzten Jahren sehr verändert. Und auch die Gesellschaft da draußen. Rassismus ist gesellschaftsfähig geworden. Unsere Gesellschaft spaltet sich. Ich habe immer noch viel Spaß an meinem Blog und ich hoffe einige von euch zu inspirieren euer eigenes Ding zu machen. Aber instagram ist für mich zu sehr Marie „sollen sie doch Kuchen essen“ Antoinette. Instagram ist die parfümierten Schafe unserer Tage.

I sometimes despair about the attention a picture of a cup of coffee gets over political news. That dresses on sale ( or football, bands, etc.) seem for so many way more interesting than what happens to our society. To the peaceful idea of Europe. And yes, my timeline is very, very mixed. In political views as well as in general interests.
Manchmal verzweifle ich darüber wie viel Aufmerksamkeit das Bild einer Tasse Kaffee im Vergleich zu politischen Nachrichten erhält. Das Kleider im Schlussverkauf ( oder Fußball, Bands, etc.) für viele so viel interessanter erscheinen als als was mit unserer Gesellschaft passiert. Der Idee unseres friedlichen Europas. Ja meine Timeline ist nicht sehr homogen. Weder in politischen Ansichten noch mit ihren Interessen.

The inspiration for this outfit is Brigitte Bardot’s pink gingham wedding dress. Back when she was a pretty face. A sex symbol. A style icon. Not the woman brought to court for blatant racism and tried for sedition. Not the stern supporter of the French right extremist party Front National.
Die Inspiration für dieses Outfit ist Brigitte Bardots Hochzeitskleid aus rosa Vichykaro. Aus der Zeit wo sie einfach nur schön war. Ein Sexsymbol. Eine Stilikone. Nicht die Frau die für ihren eklatanten Rassismus wurde und wegen Volksverhetzung verurteilt wurde. Nicht die überzeugte UnterstützerIn der französischen rechtsextremen Partei Front National.

Fashion and politics are part of of the same world. It is politics that defines the price of an item. Raw materials, trade contracts, working conditions are all defining factors – clothing isn’t made from pixie dust.
Mutter und Politik sind Teil der gleichen Welt. Es ist Politik die den Preis eines Stücks bestimmt. Rohstoffe, Handelsverträge, Arbeitsbedingungen – das sind die Rahmenbedingungen. Kleidung entsteht nicht aus Feenstaub.

Enough of my rant – pink gingham is happy and carefree. This dress is woven in a very lightweight cotton. Lined in thin cotton, too. Perfect for scorching days. For an endless summer like this one.
Aber genug davon. Rosa Vichykaro ist glücklich und ohne Sorgen. Das Kleid ist aus sehr leichter Baumwolle gewebt. Perfekt für heiße Tage. Vor allem endlosen Sommer wie diesen.

On the Go: Maritime Fun – Happy Seagull – mein Möwenshirt

Maritime fun returns with this happy seagull. The shirt became quickly popular with one of my favourite plussize (Facebook) groups. I bought it in a smaller size and had it cropped.
Der modische Ausflug ans Meer mit dem Marine-Look im Juli kehrt zurück mit dieser glücklichen Möwe. Das Shirt ist sehr beliebt bei einer meiner Lieblings-Facebook-Gruppe. Ich habe es eine Nummer kleiner gekauft und kürzen lassen.
I prefer the version with the stripey shorts. But I wear it more often with the capri jeans – either as shown or in dark blue denim.
Ich bevorzuge die Version mit den kurzen Shorts, Meistens trage ich aber zum Shirt Caprihosen – entweder so wie hier oder die in dunkelblauem Denim.

Tropical Delight – Hawaii Shorts + Sweet

This is my last post for the tropical delights for this summer. Don’t let anyone tell you you shouldn’t wear shorts or show your bare arms. As if the world hasn’t bigger problems than chubby arms or legs.
Das ist mein letzer Beitrag für die die Topical Delights – tropisch und exotisch für diesen Sommer. lasst euch von niemandem erzählen ihr dürftet keine kurzen Hosen oder nakte Arme zeigen. Als gäbe es keine grösseren Probleme auf der Welt als dicke Arme oder Beine.


However, be aware there might be backlash. Some idiots like to dish out. That can be very hurtful. My strategy is to muster them up and down and up again. Mild smile, a slight sigh and a subtle shake of the head, definitely rolling the eyes and then going away. Possibly with a slight snort or snigger. Unless the group is to large, that works pretty well.
Trotzdem, kann das Anfeindungen geben. Einige Vollpfosten brauchen das um ihr Ego aufzuwerten oder ihre Dummheit zu überspielen. Bei solchen Reaktionen mustere ich diejenigen von Oben nach Unten und wieder zurück. Lächele dabei mild und schüttele leicht den Kopf. Ein unterdrücktes leises Auflachen am Ende, rollende Augen. Das klappt sehr gut – zumindest bis zu einer gewissen Gruppengrösse.


But I have to be honest – it rarely happens to me. Self assurance is a strong shield. 
Aber, und da muss ich ehrlich sein – das passiert mir ausgesprochen selten und mittlerweile fast gar nicht mehr. Selbstbewusstsein ist da ein starkes Schutzschild.





So – enough said – there are better ones to write about self-/ fat acceptance, body positivitiy and being plussize. Back to the outfit. I bought the play suit or shorts set in 2016. For a lark. In the sales. And I like it a lot.
Genug gesagt – es gibt viele die schreiben über Selbst- oder Fettakzeptanz, Bodypositivity, etc. wesentlich besser als ich. Kennt ihr in dem Zusammenhang Marshmallow Mädchen? Zurück zum Outfit. Ich habe das Short-Ensembe 2016 gekauft. Im Sale. Und ich finde es grossartig.

The top is meant to be knotted. Doesn’t work the way LindyBop planned that in my cup size. So I wear it aas a crop top. The shorts are high waist and they are really short. I wear them to go to the pool (or beach if I’d live closer to one).
Das Top wird eingentlich geknotet. Das funktioniert aber bei meiner Cup-Grösse nicht ganz so wie LindyBop sich das vorgestellt hat und so trage ich es als Crop Top. Die Shorts sind wirklich kurz – aber mit hoher Taille. Ich trage die gerne zum Freibad (oder zum Strand, wenn einer in der Nähe wäre).





I finally had the guts to dye the blouse. Before it was vibrant green and hardly got any mileage.
Ich habe mich endlich getraut die Bluse zu färben – vorher war die leuchtend grün und bekam nicht genug Auslauf.

Tropical Delight – Jumpsuit with Culotte

Never say never. Part two of tropical and excotic delights in which I not only wear a jumpsuit, but one with culottes. Lo and behold. It is probably not my most flattering ganrment. The cleavage is on the border of indecent. Modest me things possibly on the wrong side of it. But hang it, it’s fun!
Man sollte niemals nie sagen. Teil zwei von #TropicalDelight – tropisch exotisch – mit einem Jumpsuit mit Culottes! Unglaublich? es ist wahrscheinlich nicht mein vorteilhaftestes Kleidungsstück. Der Ausschnitt ist an der Grenze zu unabhängig. Ein Teil von mir denkt, auf der falschen Seite davon. Aber drissegal – das Teil macht Spass!

The cheerful necklace and the melon bag have a whiff of the fabulous entertainer Carmen Miranda. I am gutted – at the end of last summer I bought some banana earrings and I just couldn’t find them. They would have been an excellent addition to this fruity look, too. Gnahhh!
Die fröhliche Kette und die Tasche haben einen Hauch von der fabulösen Carmen Miranda. Ich bin immer noch auf der Suche nach den Bananen-Ohrringe, die ich zum Ende des letzten Sommers im Sale gekauft habe. Die wären auch eine tolle Ergänzung für diesen fruchtigen Look gewesen. Gnahhh!

Da fragt man sich was da eingeworfen wurde, als man sich die Nummer ausgedacht hatte…

Hier gab es nur vorweg einem doppelten Expresso.


Until 15 years ago almost all my cool clothing came from H+M. In the last years I struggled to find things in their plus size range that didn’t bore me to tears or I found even outright hideous. And suddenly I saw this jumpsuit while looking for something else.
Bis vor ca. 15 Jahren kamen fast alle meine coolen Sachen von H+M. In den letzen Jahren habe ich mich schwer damit getan etwas in der Abteilung für Grosse Grössen zu finden, dass ich nicht unendlich langweilig oder einfach schrecklich fand. Und plötzlich finde ich diesen Jumpsuit.

A clear case of love on first sight. Clean lines and still a ruffle. This jumpsuit screams for a proper party. Somewhere in the urban jungle of life. Preferably on a rooftop. With Cocktails. Sex and the City style.
Ein klarer Fall von Liebe auf den ersten Blick. Klare Linien und doch eine Rüsche. Dieser Jumpsuit ist eine Rampensau und will ausgeführt werden. Irgendwo in dem Dschungel einer Großstadt. Bevorzugt auf einer Dachterrasse. Mit Cocktails. Sex and the City style.
