Summer Fruit: Sunny Lemons

Fresh fruit – good enough to eat is the informal motto if the month. Lemons, cherries, melons. Mouthwatering and fun. Ok, the month started with a different kind of morsel, a tribute to Dita von Teese. But this is the first of four fruity looks.
Frisches Früchte – sieht lecker aus ist mein informelles Motto für den Monat. Zitronen, Kirschen, Melonen. Zum anbeißen. Und gut gelaunt. Zugegeben der August hat mit einem anderen Leckerbissen begonnen: einer Hommage an Dita von Teese. Aber dies ist das erste von vier fruchtigen Outfits.

Wenn das leben einem Zitronen gibt, sollte man Limonade oder Tequila trinken. Oder aber das für ein wunderbares Muster nutzen. LindyBop hat dieses Kleid zuerst ganz am Ende des letzten Sommers verkauft.


After a trip to the tailor earlier in spring it went walkabouts. And I was gutted. It was hiding in a meeting room behind a curtain. Together with another favourite dress, my cowhide clutch and my favourite shopping bag. After some weeks it was found again. And I over the moon.
Nach einem Besuch bei der Änderung war es zeitweise verschollen. Und ich neben der Spur. Das Kleid hatte sich im Fraktionsitzungssaal hinter einem Vorhang versteck. Zusammen mit einem weiteren Lieblingskleid, meiner Kuhfellclutch und meiner liebsten Einkaufstasche. Nach einigen Wochen des Suchens haben wir uns dann glücklicherweise wieder gefunden.



The pattern of the dress reminds me of a Marina Rinaldi dress. Wonder full shown it here by French Curves blogger Anaïs Pénélope. A classic shift. I tend to stay away from A-lines. I prefer my fit and flare or wiggle dresses and silhouettes. Though pencil skirts are a bugger on the bike. The lemon dress with its wide skirt is very bike friendly.
Das Muster des Kleids erinnert mich an eines von Marina Rinaldi. Wunderbar gezeigt im Rahmen der French Curves von der französischen Bloggerin Anaïs Pénélope. Ein klassisches Etuikleid. A-Linienkleider sind nicht so meines. Ich bevorzuge Fit-and-Flare Kleider – also oben eng und unten ausgestellt – oder halt schmale Silhouetten. Allerdings sind Bleistiftröcke schwierig auf dem Fahrrad. Das Zitronenkleid mit seinem weiten Rock ist sehr fahrradfreundlich.     .


It is a proper Sunday outfit. Especially with the yellow saucer hat. I wish wearing hats would still be a thing. With a somewhat nicer bag it would be a great outfit for a garden wedding or party. Wedges are ace for that as you have heels but without sinking into the lawn. Or ruining it for that matter.
Das hier ist ein echt: es Sonntagsoutfit. Besonders mit dem gelben Hut. Schade dass wir heute nur noch so selten Hüte tragen. Mit einer etwas netteren Tasche wäre das ein tolles Outfit für eine Hochzeit oder eine schöne Gartenparty. Keilabsätze sind auf Kies- und Rasenflächen einfach grossartig. Absätze kombiniert mit erhöhter Standfestigkeit und schon sinkt man nicht mehr im Rasen ein – oder hinterlässt dort Löcher.

German Curves: Star Style Dita von Teese

Today German Curves features a look inspired by a star. I didn’t come up with this challenge but I instantly knew who my inspiration was going to be. The one and only highly iconic Dita von Teese, queen of Burlesque.

Star Style – style das Outfit eines Stars nach ist das heutige Motto der German Curves. Ich habe mir das zwar nicht ausgedacht, ich wusste aber sofort wer mich dazu inspiriert: die Mode- und Burlesqueikone Dita von Teese.


A woman whose glamorous retro style I fell for when I saw a picture of her wedding dress. Back then when she married Marilyn Manson. She is the kind of beauty I admired most as a child: raven black hair, a clear, pale complexion with red lips. Like Snow White. Von Teese is a Snow White for grown-ups.

Eine Frau deren glamouröser Retrostil angetan hatte, als ich ihre Hochzeitsbilder sah. Damals als sie Mailyn Manson geheiratet hatte. Sie ist die Art von Schönheit, die ich als Kind am meisten gewundert hatte: rabenschwarzes Haar, ein heller, klarer Teint und rote Lippen. Wie Schneewittchen. Von Teese ist aber ein Schneewittchen für Erwachsene.

This is the original outfit. I saw it a few years back in a fashion magazine. I was struck. Instant love. The combination of green and leopard. The dress. The glasses. Herself. Pure fan girl moment. So it is a 30/40s inspired day dress. And not like mine a (recreated) 50s cocktail dress. But feel rather dowdy in 1940s dresses.
Das hier ist das Original Outfit. Ich habe es vor einigen Jahren in einem Modemagazin gesehen. Es war eine Offenbarung. Liebe auf den ersten Blick. Die Kombination von Grün und Leopard. Das Kleid. Die Sonnenbrille. Sie selber. Ein echter Fan Girl Moment. Aber es ist ein 1930ger/ 1940ger inspiriertes Tageskleid. Und nicht wie meines ein neu aufgelegtes 1950ger Cocktailkleid. Aber in Vierzigerjahre Kleidern fühle ich mich recht trutschig.

Her book Your Beauty Mark: the Ulitmate Guide to Eccentric Glamour hit a nerve. Unlike quite a few other guides I encountered it isn’t about creating mini-mes. This book encourages you to embrace your individuality. And the pictures are a feast.

Ihr Buch Beauty und Glamour: Mein Geheimnis für außergewöhnliche Schönheit hat bei mir einen Nerv getroffen. Anders als viele andere solche Bücher geht es darum nicht kleine Kopien von ihr selber zu schaffen. Dieses Buch ermutigt seine Individualität auszuleben. Und die Bilder sind ein Fest.

This is actually already the second outfit this year inspired by Dita von Teese. Back in June the German Curves‘ theme was monochrome. I chose red. The strawberries were pure Miss Kittenheel. Von Teese doesn’t do cutsey. At least not that I have seen it. Her vintage inspired pin-up style is quite clean.
Dieser Blog Beitrag ist tatsächlich schon das zweite Outfit dieses Jahr das von Dita von Teese inspiriert wurde. Im Juni war das Motto der German Curves monochrom. Rot war meine Farbe. Die Erdbeeren waren halt voll und ganz Miss Kittenheel. Denn von Teese macht nicht auf süß. Zumindest nicht das ich das schon mal gesehen hätte. Ihr vintage inspirierter Pin-Up Stil ist sehr clean. 

Besides chiffon is something I prefer for tops or scarves. I struggle a bit with dresses or skirts made of it. I had a few and usually they get or rather got remarkably little wear. The green satin however is heavy and rich. I have shown it before as a New Years outfit. And I love the jewel colour. So Joanie from MAD Men. Though this would be another fantastic star style.

Abgesehen davon ist Chiffon etwas was ich für Oberteile oder Schals bevorzuge. Ich tue mich etwas schwer mit Kleidern und Röcken die daraus gemacht sind. Ich hatte davon schon einige und Sie bekommen relativ wenig Auslauf. Der grüne Satin ist schwer und fällt wunderbar. Ich habe das Kleid schon mal zu Silvester gezeigt. Ich mag das satte Grün. Sehr Joanie von Mad Men. Das wäre auch ein großartiger weiterer Star Style.

Er ist von amerikanischen Label Pin-Up Girl Clothing. Neulich habe ich es mir noch in einem hellen Pfirsichton gekauft. Eine echte Lingerie Farbe. Aber ich brauche meine winterliche Blässe um das tragen zu können. Und es muss noch gekürzt werden.

FrenchCurves: BeachBody – Maillot de Bain

En anglais il y’a un idiom pour quelqu’un nouveau, un peu naiv – justement départé du bateau – „fresh from thé boat“. Je suis pas trop naive mais c’est le premier jour de mes vacances et le shooting était quelques heures après nous sommes arrivées avec le bateau. Ok, le ferry.
In English there is this phrase „fresh from the boat“. Bit like us today – not as in being naiv and new but today is the first day of my hols and we got off the boat – ok, the ferry – a few hours before shooting.

La plus grand parti de mes photos pour le French Curves sont pris dans ma arrière-cour ou avant la mur de l’office. Mais pas aujourd’hui. Je présente mon nouveau maillot à la plage (de Borkum).
Most of my pictures for the French Curves were shot either in my courtyard or in front of the wall to the office. But not today. Today you get my new bathing suit at the beach (on Borkum).

Just for Fun – Pink Wiggle Lipssticks

I love my blog. It is fun. I really enjoy blogging. I met a lot of interesting people and been to places I wouldn’t have been without it. But even for me the day only has 24 hours.
Ich liebe meinen Blog. Ich habe wahnsinnig viel Spass daran – und ihr anscheinend auch. Durch das Bloggen habe ich viele interessante Leute kennengelernt und durfte an Orte, an die mich meine anderen Leben sonst nicht führt. Aber auch bei mir hat der Tag nur 24 Stunden.
    

I like to burn the candle at both ends. Always did. Still, it is time a look a little better after myself. And I need more time for the things I want to do in politics. Apart from a few examples I’ll post now on Sundays.
Ich lasse wenig aus – oder wie man auf Englisch sagt – zünde die Kerze an beiden Enden an. Ich wollte nie was verpassen. Und doch – es ist an der Zeit ein wenig besser auch mich acht zu geben. Ich brauche auch mehr Zeit für die Dinge, die mir für mein Ehrenamt in der Politik wichtig sind. Abgesehen von einigen Ausnahmen werde ich von nun an Sonntags.


There are still tons of outfits I’d love to show you. Variations of things you have at least partially seen. Some new(ish) stuff. But this is a hobby blog. Will be. Cooperations are scarse. And actually I prefer it that way.
Es gibt noch tonnenweise Outfits in meinem Schrank, die ich Euch zeigen möchte. Einge Variationen von Dingen die ihr zum Teil schon gesehen habt. Einiges neueres. Miss Kittenheel ist ein Hobbyblog. Kooperationen sind selten. Und das passt mir auch sehr.



Today is another LindyBop dress – I have seen it on a stunning lady in the colouring of a Dita van Teese. I wondered if I could pull this dress off as a blonde. Without looking too sickly sweet. You decide on that – I decided I wanted that dress since it was on sale for silly money. And I do love this cheerful novelty print.
Heute gibt es mal wieder was von LindyBop zu sehen. Mir hat das wahnsinnig gut auf Instagram gefallen – an einem Schneewittchentyp. Ich habe mich gefragt, ob ich das als Blondine auch tragen kann. Zumindest ohne das alle einen Zuckerschock bekommen. Ihr entscheidet dass, ob dem so ist. Ich habe mir das Kleid für kleines Geld im Sale gekauft. Und ich liebe das fröhliche Muster.

I usually wear the dress with my cropped denim jacket. And with that shirt underneath. So far temperatures were not that accomodating and besides the heart shaped cut out in the back is a bit low and it is a bit off hit and miss with the back of my bra.
Meistens trage ich das Kleid mit meiner kurzen Jeansjacke. Und mit dem Hemd darunter. Bis jetzt waren die Temperaturen noch nicht so einladend es ohne zu tragen. Ausserdem lässt der herzförmige Rückenausschnitt etwas tiefer blicken als mir das lieb ist und ich lassen ungerne den BH blitzen.

Fresh as Spring – Frühlings-Frisch – ü30Blogger & Friends

Nichts sagt für mich so sehr Frühling wie dieser Maiglöckchen-Hut von Frollein von Sofa. Das ist jetzt der dritte Beitrag diesen Monat mit diesem Hütchen – einmal für etwas kühlere Tage mit Tartan und Grün. Einmal in einem soften Pastellgrün mit weitem, schwingendem Rock. Zusammen mit den Damen von den ü30-Bloggern haben wir eine Blog-Parade zum Thema Frühlingsfrisch gemacht.
Hardly anything I own says spring as clearly as this Frollein von Sofaa like this the pretty lily of the valley hat. This is the third blogpost this month featuring this hat. First for cooler days with tartan and green. And another version in a soft pastell green with a flary skirt. Together with the ladies from the German ü30-bloggers we made a blog parade to celebrate Fresh as Spring.


Eigentlich sollte dies ein Outfit für ein Fest werden. Ein Fest wie eine Taufe, ein runder Geburtstag, eine Kommunion. Aber eigentlich ist das ein Outfit für eine Hochzeit. Und das nicht als Gast. Und nein, ich habe nicht heimlich geheiratet. Noch ist das irgendwie geplant. Ist als Single recht schwierig.
This was meant to be an outfit for a party. A party like a christening, a birthday, a holy communion. But actually this is an outfit for a wedding. And not as a guest. And no, I didn’t elope. Nor any plans to get married. Which is quite tricky as a single.


Trotzdem, ein tolles Brautoutfit fürs Standesamt im Frühjahr. Und teuer war es auch nicht. Der Hut war teurer als das Kostüm. Die kleine Tasche habe ich seit 2005, gekauft für eine Weihnachtsparty. Mein Anstecksträusschen habe ich in einem einfachen Laden für Haushaltsauflösungen geschenkt bekommen. Sieht aus als wären das die gleichen Maiglöckchen.
Anyway – it is a great bridal outfit for a civil or registry wedding. And it wasn’t expensive either. The hat was deerer than the suit. I got the small bag back in 2005, bought for a christmas do. The buttoniere was a present in a very simple brick-a-brac-place. Looks like the very same flowers.




Der Garten meiner Eltern hat sich von seiner frischsten Seite gezeigt – mit den grünen, spriessenden Blättern, aber auch mit den Temperaturen. Die Zierkirsche in voller Blüte. Rosa Kirschblüten, die auf den Rasen schneien. Gänseblümchen im pinken Schneetreiben. Die Magnolie am kleinen Teich. Hach.
The parental garden showed itself from its freshest side – with fresh budding leaves but also with fresh temperatures. The Japanese cherry was in full bloom. Pink petals snowing onto the green lawn. Daisies adrift in a pink snowstorm. The magnolia at the small pond. So pretty.

Back again in Pink Polka-Dots

Miss Kittenheel is back online! A few mishaps and then my blog was gone for a week. But there was also an opportunity in that involuntary break. I had a good thought to remind myself why I do this and what I want.
Miss Kittenheel ist wieder da! Durch die Kombination ein paar unglücklicher Faktoren war mein Blog eine Woche offline. Aber die unfreiwillige Pause hatte auch ihr gutes. Ich habe die Tage genutzt um in mich zu gehen und mir zu überlegen warum ich das alles mache und was ich will.

That looks a bit different to when I first started. Back when I started my blog I had exalted ideas. Of many cooperations. Glittering events. Life like so often turned out differently. I pouted a bit for a while. But not anymore. I made a few cooperations. Some were great fun. A few not so much. However all were educational.
Das sieht mittlerweile etwas anders aus als ich mir das am Anfang vorgestellt hatte. Als ich mit dem Blog angefangen hatte, hatte ich überzogene Vorstellungen. Von ganz vielen Kooperationen. Schillernden Veranstaltungen. Aber das Leben ist oft anders. Ich habe ein wenig geschmollt. Nicht mehr. Ich habe ein paar Kooperationen gemacht. Einige waren toll. Andere nicht so sehr. Gelernt habe ich immer was.

And yes, I have been to some really cool events and places too, because of my blog. I met quite a few fascinating people through blogging and some where I was baffled why they were successful. Don’t give me that diligence crap. with some I struggled  to tell them apart. That is also due to me being a bit of an analphabet when it comes to facial recognition.
Und ja, ich durfte zu einigen tollen Events und Orten wegen des Blogs. Ich habe viele fazinierende oder spannende Menschen durch das Bloggen kennengelernt. Bei manchen habe ich mich gewundert warum sie so erfolgreich waren (oder sind). Das hat nicht immer was mit Fleiss und Einsatz zu tun. Bei manchen hatte ich Probleme sie auseinander zu halten. Das liegt aber auch daran, dass ich ein ziemlicher Gesichtsanalphabet bin und die gleichen Leute öfters kennenlernen kann.

But basically that is not what keeps my blog going. It is the fun, the indulgence and also the responses I get. Sure there are not a lot of comments as they were „before“ on most blogs. But it is the personal feedback that motivates me way more that the fullest goodie bag. It feels ace when you know you are responsible that someone bought and wore her first dress in twenty years.
Aber wenn ich ehrlich bin, dass ist nicht warum ich mit meinem Blog weiter mache. Es macht Spass, ist etwas was mir gut tut und ja, ich mag die Bestätigung.  Es wird auf den meisten Blogs nicht mehr so viel kommentiert wie „früher“. Aber das persönliche Feedback ist trotzdem grossartig und motiviert mich mehr als die prallste Goodie Bag. Es fühlt sich toll an wenn man gesagt bekommt, dass man dafür verantwortlich ist, das sich jemand nach knapp 20 Jahren das erste Kleid kauft, anzieht und sich darin wohl fühlt.

I love it to have a save place where I make all the decisions. Be that styling or design issues, time management, cooperations either with firms or fellow bloggers.  I neither have that freedom in my job as a landscape architect nor in politics.
Ich liebe diesen Ort an dem ich alle Entscheidungen fälle. Egal ob styling oder design, Zeitplanung, Kooperationen mit Firmen oder anderen Bloggern. Diese Freiheit habe ich weder in meinem Job in der Landschaftsarchitektur oder in der Politik.

Der Spass geht also weiter!

This outfit sums me up pretty well. It is quite typical. We got a dress, some basics and some fun things. The basics are the sturdy brogues, the tights, the cropped denim jacket, the black chiffon pussy bow blouse, the beret and the mini messenger bag. The dress is a part of the fun things together with the cat umbrella.
Dieses Outfit ist recht typisch für mich. Da ist ein Kleid, einige Basics und Dinge, die Spass machen. Die Basics sind die Hochfrontpumps, the blickdichte Strumpfhose, die selbstgekürzte Jeansjacke, die schwarze Chiffon-Schluppenbluse, die Baskenmütze und die kleine Umhängetasche. Das Kleid gehört zu den Dingen, die Spass machen – zusammen mit dem Katzenschirm.

Ob Karneval oder Fasching: Plussize Geisha

Alaaf, Helau und ManTau. Karneval ist für einige schlimmer als die Pest. Für andere wie Weihnachten mit Spass. Ich gehöre unter anderem auch herkunftsbedingt zur zweiten Gruppe. Als rheinische Frohnatur bin ich zwar über Umwege im Revier gelandet, aber wie Trude Herr so schön sang „man geht niemals so ganz“.
Alaaf and Helau – the two major traditional celebratory cries for carnival in Germany. For some carnival is worse than the plague. For others more fun than Christmas. I was raised in one of the hotspots of the carnival culture. You can take the girl out of the region, but not qiute the region out of the gal. I cherish this tradition. So much fun. And even in costumes. It’s the best! Haha. Sorry.

„Haben Sie denn ein Kostüm?“ fragte mich die Tage noch eine Berliner Architektin mit der ich ein Projekt bearbeite. „Eins??“ Nun, bei mir hat sich da einiges über die Jahre gesammelt. Letztes Jahr war ich Rotkäppchen. 2015 und davor (aber auch zu Altweiber) als fesche Piratin unterwegs. Miss Piggy und die French Maid – das Kammermädchen, sind undokumentiert. Noch.
„Do you have a costume?“ asked me the architect from Berlin. She and I work together on a project. „One???“ Not quite – it has grown into a small collction. Last year I was Red Riding Hood. 2015 and before (and also this Thursday) a dashing pirate. Miss Piggy and the French Maid are un-documented. For now.

Das Geisha Kostüm habe ich mir schon 2015 gekauft. Nicht für Karneval, sondern weil ich einen einfachen aber dramatischen Kimono für zuhause wollte. Ich hatte auch nicht nach Verkleidungen gesucht, als mir Amazon den bei meiner Suche vorgeschlagen hatte.
I bought the Geisha costume in 2015. Not for fancy dress occasions but because I wanted a kimono with dramatic sleeves in my size. Amazon suggested it along with the regular loungewear ones.

Asia-Muster liebe ich – ob mit bei dem Kimono-Kleid von Anna Scholz oder aber bei dem Suzie-Wong-Kleid von LindyBop. Das „Ich bin kein Kostüm“ – kann ich nur bedingt nachvollziehen. Können wir aber gerne mal persönlich diskutieren. Dann aber auch über Feminismus, bzw. Sexismus. Würde ich mit einer Gruppe Japaner dieses Kostüm tragen? Wahrscheinlich nicht – die würden sich viel mehr über Rotkäppchen im Dirndl freuen.
I love Asia inspired patterns – be it the versatile Anna Scholz kimono dress or LindyBop’s Suzie-Wong wiggle dress. The debate wether this is an appropriate costume or not, is one I will only discuss in person. It will involve a discussion about feminism or rather sexism. Would I wear this if I’d show a group of Japanese around? Probably not – they’d be more excited to see me as Red Riding Hood wearing a Dirndl.

Das Thema Kopfschmuck fand ich heikel – denn Perücke geht bei mir nur draussen. Sonst wird mir damit zu warm, juckt und ich habe dann einfach weniger Spass. Karneval ist für mich Spass und kein Kostümwettbewerb.
Most „Japanese“ fancy dress up costumes include a decorated whig. But I only do whigs outside. I find the ones I tried before to warm, itchy and thus a nuissance. Carnival isn’t for me about having the greatest custume but about having fun.

Also habe ich mir ein paar Bilder angesehen und einen Blumenhaarschmuck gebastelt. Das ging recht flott – ca. 10 Minuten. Kein Fascinator – der Blütenkranz besteht aus Deko-Kirschblüten (Keller), einer künstlichen Orchidee (aus meiner Küche) und einer Haarblume. Man glaubt es kaum – die Pracht ist erstaunlich feierresistent und hält schunkelsicher!
So I made an image search and made my own floral crown. A quick job – done in a llittle less than 10 minutes. Not really a facinator, more like a wreath. It os made of some deco cherry blossom twigs (from my basement – bought but never used), a fake orchid from my kitchen and a corsage. Hard to believe – this headgear is quite party resilient and rather danceproof!

Fancy another sip of champagne? One of the rituals I grew up with was the annual new year’s concert from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. They always play a mix of well known light hearted classics from Strauss and others. On TV you also get clips of ballet dancers waltzing through beautiful Austrian castles.
Noch ein Glässchen Sekt gefällig? Eines dieser Rituale meiner Kindheit war die jährliche Übertragung des Neujahrskonzertes der Wiener Philharmoniker. Sie spielen jedes Jahr einen bewährten Mix aus bekannten leichten klassischen Stücken von Strauss und Co. Im Fernsehen gibt es dann auch Clips mit Ballettänzern die durch schöne Österreichische Schlosskulissen tanzen.


I usually don’t like to go to such affairs. I prefer to go to concerts when I chose. These days I don’t watch the new year’s concert anymore. Maybe next year. But then the Austrians have such a small number of women playing it is ridiculous. 20 years after opening the orchestra (because of funding) to women it is still quite much a (white) boys club.
Ich tue mich schwer mit solchen Veranstaltungen. Ich gehe lieber mal so ins Konzert. Seit Jahren schaue ich auch das Neujahrskonzert nicht mehr. Vielleicht nächstes Jahr wieder. Aber die Wiener haben einen dermassen geringen Frauenanteil, dass es peinlich ist. Auch 20 Jahre nachdem das Orchester sich für Frauen geöffnet hat (wegen der Subventionen) – ist es immer noch gefühlt ein (weisser) Männerverein.

The outfit is nice for a New Year’s Eve party, going to the ballet or a nice concert. Just because people don’t really dress up for occasions doesn’t mean you can’t. So if you want to take at least that little black dress out – do it. Please don’t hesistate to wear or use something. I have so many vintage things that were kept for good and at the end of a life have never been used at all.
Das Outfit eignet sich sehr gut für eine Silvester-Party, um ins Ballet oder ins klassische Konzert oder die Philharmonie zu gehen. Nur weil viele Leute sich nicht mehr in Schale werfen um auszugehen, muss man da ja nicht mitmachen. Es ist immer noch eine gute Gelegenheit mindestens das kleine Schwarze herauszuholen. Bitte nicht immer alles für irgendwann aufheben – ich habe soviele Vintage Sachen, die immer für gut aufgehpben wurden und nie benutzt wurden.



This isn’t really a little black dress. It can be formal. But it can be easily dressed down, too. The swan border print makes it a good one to combine with folksy elements. Or a classic 1950s look with a cardigan.
Das hier ist kein kleines Schwarzes. Man kann es etwas formaler tragen. Aber man kann es genauso gut etwas lässiger tragen. Der Schwanendruck ist schön mit Trachten- oder Folkloreteilen zu kombinieren. Oder zu einem 50ger Jahre Look mit einer kurzen Strickjacke.

Vintage Bochum
I bought the fascinator in one of my favourite shops in Bochum – the Le Salon Vintage. The Salon is specialised on vintage fashion from the 1920s to 1950s. Like most places I have been to only the accessories fit me – but there is plenty of these: chamring hats, shoes, handbags and gloves in a beautiful setting. Since November you can find Le Salon at Oskar-Hoffmann-Strasse 43. In the back of the shop is Le Rouge – a vintage beauty parlor.
Den Fascinator habe ich in einem meiner Lieblingsläden in Bochum gekauft – dem Le Salon Vintage. Der Salon hat sich auf Mode aus den 1920ger bis 1950gern spezialisiert. Meist passen mir da wie fast immer nur die Accessoires – aber davon gibt es genug:  charmante Hütchen, Handtaschen, Schuhe und Handschuhe in einem schönen Ambiente. Seit November in der Oskar-Hoffmann-Strasse 43. Angeschlossen ist Le Rouge – dann klappt es auch mit dem authentischen VIntage Make-Up.

I love this dress – the rest of the year it is a stunning wiggle dress with sleeves. But in December I like to wear it with the white fake fur cuffs. Without the fascinator I have worn it to two December council sessions – in 2014 and 2015. Unfortunately not this year – as I was sick that day.
Ich liebe dieses Kleid – den Rest des Jahres ist das hier ein wunderbares Bleistiftkleid mit Ärmeln. Aber i Dezember trage ich es gelegentlich gerne mit den weissen Kunstfellmanschetten. Ohne den Fascinator habe ich das Outfit so in der Art 2014 und 2015 zu den Ratssitzungen im Dezember getragen. Dieses Jahr leider nicht. Da war ich krank.

The fake fur cuffs were made from an old fur scarf that I got at a second hand shop.
Die Manschetten aus Kunstfell sind aus einem alten Schal gemacht den ich in einem Second-Hand-Laden gefunden habe.

The Clutch is from ASOS. Unfortunately the iPad very nearly doesn’t fit in. Bugger. But I didn’t sent it back because of that.
Die Clutch ist von ASOS – leider passt mal wieder ganz, ganz knapp das iPad nicht hinein. Aber deswegen habe ich sie nicht zurück geschickt. 

This glitters and sparkles so much – this clutch will be a fun accessory for years to come!

The little white mink fascinator feels really glam. It always reminds me a bit off powder puffs.
Der kleine weisse Nerzfascinator ist sehr glamourös und erinnert mich immer an eine Puderquaste. 

The earrings and the sleigh brooch are a good match. So far the only unworn bit is the black bambi.
Die Ohrringe und die Schlittenbrosche passen sehr gut zusammen. Bis jetzt ist das einzige, dass ich noch nicht in dieser Weihnachtszeit getragen habe das schwarze Bambi.

The charm bracelet is a long time favourite – I think I got it back in 2004 – together with the Christmas tree earrings.
Das Bettelarmband ist schon seit ca. 2004 ein Favorit zur Weihnahtszeit – zusammen mit den Tannenbaum-Ohrringen.

Only a few more days till Christmas. On Thursday we have out office Christmas party. The pics for the outfit are already taken. My final festive outfit for the year will be on Christmas Eve.
Nur noch ein paar Tage bis Weihnachten. Am Donnerstag haben wir noch unsere Büro-weihnachtsfeier. Die Bilder für das Outfit haben wir schon aufgenommen. Mein letztes weihnachtliches Outfit poste ich zu Heiligabend.

It is half time before Christmas. Your classic advent calendar has now more open doors than closed ones. The Christmas markets are in full swing. Even I already had two mulled wines this year.
Es ist Bergfest vor Weihnachten. Der klassische Adventskalender hat jetzt mehr offene als geschlossene Türchen. Die Weihnachtsmärkte haben Hochkonjunktur. Sogar ich habe dort schon zweimal Glühwein getrunken.

Moppi from the German 30plus Forum asked us about our comfort zones or rather favourite body parts. Inspired by a German TV-Show Schrankalarm, where a pair of stylists make over ladies. And they do that rather well. These two are a pleasure to watch and I like that not everybody gets the same look once they are done.
Moppi vom Ü30 Forum fragte uns neulich nach unseren Lieblingskörperteilen. Inspiriert von der VOX-Sendung Schrankalarm, wo Miyabi Kawai und Manuel Cortez ganz vortrefflich Ladies umstylen. Es macht Spass den beiden dabei zuzuschauen. Vor allem da die beiden auch auf ihre Kandidatinnen eingehen und am Ende nicht jeder den gleichen Stil verpasst bekommt,

So – what are my favourite body parts? Where is my comfort zone and where to I like to gloss over?

Tartans and Christmas go together pretty well. Last year Betty Pamper showed the v-neck version of my dress in Christmas mode for Dolly & Dotty. Mine arrived in January and has been on my blog for a traditional and an autumnal maritime approach. But the wonderful thing about annual holidays is they come back year after year. Two years ago I had the red boots on my blog with the same lipstick red cardigan. Today not with grey tweed but cotton in Royal Stewart.
Schottenkaros und Weihnachten passen schon richtig gut zusammen. Letztes Jahr zeigte Betty Pamper die V-Ausschnittvariante im Weihnachtslook für Dolly & Dotty. Mein Kleid kam erst im Januar an. Auf dem Blog gab es das mit einem Trachtenlook und für den Herbst am Meer zu sehen. Das tolle an jährlichen Feiertagen ist, sie kommen jedes Jahr wieder. Vor zwei Jahren gab es die Stiefel schon mal mit dem passendem Cardigan auf meinem Blog. Heute aber nicht mit grauem Tweed sondern aus Baumwolle im klassischen roten Schottenkaro, dem Royal Stewart.

Those boots surely are show stoppers. They are my own farewell present to Manchester. When I walked into the Duo-Boots shop in September 2008 I was after a pair of knee high brown or cognac-coloured flat boots. The only bit where these shiny red ones meet the mark is with the shaft length. They are after all knee high. The glossy patent boots instantly caught my eyes in the window.
Diese Stiefel sind schon echte Hingucker. Sie sind mein eigenes Abschiedsgeschenk aus Manchester. Als ich im September 2008 in das damalige Geschäft von Duo-Boots ging, war es auf der Suche nach kniehohen flachen Stiefeln in Braun oder Cognac. Nun gut, wenigstens die Schafthöhe stimmt bei den roten Lackstiefeln. Immerhin sind sie kniehoch. Die Stiefel aus lippenstiftroten Knautschlack sind mir schon im Schaufenster ins Auge gesprungen.

When there were no sensible boots fitting my description to be had I caved in and tried the red ones. I was smitten before I tried them on. They were expensive. Glamorous. Gorgeous and fit like a dream. An x-rated dream. Lined with Barbie-pink leather.

Natürlich habe ich der Versuchung nachgegeben als es keine alltagstauglichen Stiefel gab, die meinen Wünschen entsprachen. Ich war schon sehr begeistert bevor ich sie anprobierte. Sie waren sündhaft, teuer und passten wie angegossen. Ein nicht ganz jugendfreier Traum. Abgefüttert mit barbiepinken Leder.

As I admired them in front of the mirror the most junior or the three assistants chirped in if I was uncomfortable with the attention I could always wear a red pearl necklace. Silence. You could hear a pin drop. Or the other two assistants breathe in. Frantically hoping to disappear this very instant. I smiled, looked shortly down on my ample cleavage, tilted my head and replied: „So far men looking at my booooooo(ts) have never been an issue. It will be a welcome change.“
Während ich sinnierend vor dem Spiegel stand und die Stiefel bewunderte, plapperte die jüngste der drei Verkäuferinnen fröhlich, ich könne ja mit einer roten Perlenkette von den Stiefeln ablenken. Stille. Man konnte eine Stecknadel fallen hören. Oder aber die anderen beiden Verkäuferinnen tief einatmen, in der Hoffnung dabei im Erdboden zu versinken. Ich lächelte, schaute auf meinen üppigen Busen runter, legte den Kopf zur Seite und erwiderte: „Bis jetzt hatte ich noch nie das Problem das mit Männer nur auf die Stiefel geschaut haben. Das wird eine willkommene Abwechslung.“

The two more experienced assistants continued breathing. And I bought the boots. They do get a lot of attention. Not always a pleasure. We could tell you a few stories. No matter how much I dress them down they remain the porn boots. They do make killer calves, don’t they?
Die beiden anderen Verkäuferinnen stellten die Schnappatmung ein. Und ich habe die Stiefel gekauft. Sie erhalten immer enorm viel Aufmerksamkeit. Das ist nicht immer eine Freude. Wir könnten euch da einiges erzählen. Egal wie ich sie style irgendwie bleiben diese Stiefel recht pornös. Dafür machen sie aber Killerwaden, oder?
