French Curves: Le Bomber féminin

Le “Bomber” dans une silhouette féminisé“ – gnahh. Un vraie challenge pour moi dans le moins consacré à la mobilisation autour du cancer du sein. L’octobre rose.
The feminin styled bomber. Ohhh my. A real challenge for me in this month dedicated to breast cancer awareness. Pinkoctober.

Pour le thème j’ai pensé dans l’instant à ma robe rose avec des points noirs. Pink Lady en bomber. J’ai essayé deux bombers d’Asos. Le noir est trop longue, trop grand. Dommage parce qu’un autre vest „casual“ est une bonne idée.
For that motto I instantly thought about my pink dress with the black dots. Pink lady in a bomber jacket. I tried to bombers form Asos. The black one I which I hoped would be a good addition to my wardrobe. A much needed casual jacket. However it was too long. Too big. Bugger

Le bomber rose est super-coupée pour moi. J’aime la couleur. Un rose blush. Mais ça va pas avec ma robe rose. Pas du tout. Bien. Change du plan. Gris et rose sont toujours bien ensemble.
The pink bomber is actually cut for me. I love the colour. A blush pink. But it didn’t go with the dress I picked. Not at all. Change of plans – grey and pink always go together.

Le col et les manchettes sont noir et blanc. Et j’aime bien des assecoires noir et blanc. Comme cette écharpe d’Alice au pays des merveilles.
The cuffs on this jacket are black and white. And I love black and white accessories. Like this Alice in Wonderland scarf.

Le tweed de la robe est un bon contraste avec le satin très lumineux. Un peu trop lumineux pour moi. Le bibi est dans la même couleur que la veste. Les gants en pied de coq sont nouveaux aussi et ils me plaisent beaucoup.
The tweed fabric of the dress is an excellent contrast to the shiny satin. A bit too shiny for me. The beret picks up the colour from the jacket. The dogtooth gloves are new and I really, really like them.

Summertine – 3 Looks in Shorts or Playsuits

Sure I got legs – even above my knees. Most of us do. I barely show them though. Today is different. My very own summer special – 3 looks in shorts or playsuits (or rompers). Perfect for the beach, pool or marina.
Natürlich habe ich Beine – auch oberhalb der Knie. Fast alle von uns haben welche. Meist zeige ich sie auch nicht. Heute dafür schon. Mein eigenes Sommerspecial – 3 Looks mit Shorts oder Kurz-Overalls. Perfekt für Strand, Pool und Boot.

The LindyBop swimmer playsuit is a bugger to get on – but once it’s on it is super cute and even sexy. At least with heels. I felt like I needed a yoga class to get the zipper up. Much better if someone can give you a hand. Originially a halterneck but that style doesn’t work for me. So I turned it into straps. Works well for me now.
Der LindyBop Mini-Overall mit den Badenixen ist unheimlich schwer alleine anzuziehen – aber einmal drin ist er super süß und sexy. Zumindest mit Absatzschuhen. Ich hatte das Gefühl ich brauche einen Yoga-Crash-Kurs um den Reißverschluss hoch zu bekommen. Viel besser mit etwas Hilfe. Eigentlich ein Neckholder – aber das ist nichts für mich. Also habe ich die Bänder zu Trägern umfunktioniert. Klappt hervorragend!

These nautical shorts from LindyBop are super cute – even if they make me look shorter with the bardot top with the boat print. I got them a size too large as mine was already sold out. Not the most flattering but nice on a hot day. The Sailor top with the Anchor is from Sheego and I altered it to a Bardot top as my DIY your Closet project in May.
Diese nautischen Shorts von LindyBop sind supersüß – auch wenn sie mich kürzer aussehen lassen – zumindest mit dem Bardot Top mit dem Schiff und Leuchtturmmuster. Die Shorts eine Nummer grösser zu bestellen war suboptimal – aber in meiner Grösse waren sie schon ausverkauft. Nicht gerade vorteilhaft aber gut für heisse Tage. Das Top mit dem Anker ist von Sheego und ich habe es im Mai von einem Langshirt in ein Bardot Top als DIY your Closet Projekt angepasst.

The last look is the two piece playsuit I wore for the French Curves Poolside summer special. The top was meant to be knotted. Didn’t suit me. That’s why I wear it like this with a few pins. The shorts are short. Cute though. Fun on a seriously hot summer day.
Das letzte Outfit ist eine Kombination die ich für die French Curves Poolside Sommer Ausgabe vorgestellt habe. Das Top sollte geknotet werden. Das steht mir aber nicht. Deswegen trage ich es mit ein paar Sicherheitsnadeln. Die Shorts sind schon sehr kurz. Aber süss. Genau richtig für einen heissen Sommertag.

Bonjour d’Alsace – plus size princess on tour

There are places that look like right out of a fairy tale or it’s Disney version. The Alsace has quite a number of places as pretty as a picture. Itterswiller is quite a small place. But I had a hard time not bursting into song and skipping along the main road signing „little town“ from Beauty and the Beast expecting the villagers to sing along „bonjour“.
Manche Orte sehen aus wie aus dem Märchen oder zumindest wie die Disney Version. Im Elsass gibt es recht viele solcher zutiefst entzückender Orte. Itterswiller ist einer davon. Ziemlich klein sogar. Trotzdem fiel es auch mir schwer nicht loszusingen und die Hauptstrasse entlang zu hüpfen und „little town“ aus Beauty and the Beast zu singen – in freudiger Erwartung das die Anwohner einstimmen.

Trouble is if I burst into song the locals wouldn’t be that friendly. Less likely to sing along. There’d be no dancing either. I am more the type to sing raunchy songs in a tavern with my voice. Walt would spiral in this grave. Anyway – I felt like a Disney princes in the making. Either in disguise or before she meets Prince Charming.
Nun, wenn ich anfangen würde, wäre das Dorf nicht ganz so begeistert. Sie würden auch nicht anfangen zu tanzen. Ich bin mit meiner Stimme besser geeignet für anrüchige Lieder in einer verrauchten Kaschemme. Walt würde in seinem Grab rotieren. Anyway – ich kam mir trotzdem wie eine Disney Prinzessin vor. Entweder in Verkleidung oder bevor sie ihren Prince Charming trifft.

The Hotel Kieffer was a splendid backdrop. What a match to my dress. Guess next time I’ll come with the parents we’ll give it a try. The rooms on the website look promising, too. We had lunch at Hotel Arnold’s Winstub. Food was lovely. Must recook the „Palette à la diable à l’alsacienne“ – smoked pork in a mustard sauce – recipe in French.
Das Hotel Kieffer war ein wunderbarer Hintergrund. Perfekt auf mein Kleid abgestimmt. Nächstes Mal wenn ich mit Eltern unterwegs bin sollten wir das mal ausprobieren. Die Zimmer auf der Webseite sahen sehr gut aus. Lunch hatten wir in der Winstub des Hotel Arnold. Das Essen war hervorragend. Ich muss demnächst mal mein „Palette à la diable à l’alsacienne“ – Schäuffele, ähnlich wie Kasseler in Senfsauce, Rezept auf Deutsch, nachkochen.

Bisous d’Alsace – Holidays with the Eiffel Tower Dress

A few weeks ago I went with my cousin to the beautiful Alsace. Always good fun for a visit, excellent food and wine and the vinyards and villages are ever so pretty. Shame on me I didn’t take more picutes in Sélestat. I also didn’t take a lot of pics in the Europapark on the other side of the border in Germany.
Vor einigen Wochen war ich mit meiner Cousine im romantischen Elsass. Immer eine Reise wert mit hervorragendem Essen und Wein. Die Weinberge und die Dörfer sind einfach wunderschön. Ich habe nur ein paar Bilder in Sélestat gemacht – vielleicht war ich schon zu oft da. Auch vom Europapark, der nicht weit von der französischen Grenze ist, gibt es nicht viele Bilder.

But there are a lot of pics with me wearing my new LindyBop Vanessa Dress in Navy. With lots of flowers and Eiffel towers. Excuse the bad rhyme. It surely shows a lot of cleavage. But I love it. The pattern is fun, but not that obvious. And matching it with red accessories feels quite natural.
Dafür gibt es aber viele Bilder von mir mit meinem neuen LindyBop Vanessa Kleid in Dunkelblau. Mit ganz vielen Eiffeltürmen und Blumen. Das Muster macht Spass ist aber nicht zu offensichtlich. Und irgendwie musste das mit ein paar roten Accessoires kombiniert werden.

Ladies Day 2016 – The best Vintage Hats at the Races

Lange erwartet und dann war es am 11.06.2016 endlich soweit: der Ladies Day startete mit der ersten Vintage Corner des Krefelder Rennclubs. Etwa 6200 Besucher sorgten bei gutem Wetter an der Galopprennbahn für einen Hauch von Ascot.
Finally and long awaited it was time for the Ladies Day at the racecourse in Krefeld on the 11th of June 2016. About 6200 gave their best to bring a touch of Ascot to this beautiful racecourse in Germany.

Etwas kleiner als erhofft war unsere Vintage Corner – Karen (hier links im Bild) von Tate Millinery mit zauberhaften Hüten im Look der 1920-1950er Jahre hatte als einzig verbleibender Stand die Stellung gehalten. Der Vintage Flaneur, das monatlich erscheindene Retro-Mode und Lifestlye-Zeitschrift musste leider kurzfristig zu unser aller Bedauern absagen.
A bit smaller than expected was our Vintage Corner – Karen (on the left) from Tate Millinery with her charming hats in a 1920s to 1950s look did a sterling performance and held fort. Unfortunately the Vintage Flaneur, the monthly German vintage and lifestyle magazine had to cancel on short notice to our and their sincere regret.

Der Hutwettbewerb war bei Sonnenschein wesentlich besser besucht als im (regnerischen) Vorjahr – die Jury musste sich aus über 40 Beiträgen entscheiden. Keine leichte Wahl und so wurde auch der Sonderpreis für den schönsten Vintage-Hut (Original oder Repro) aufgeteilt.
The hat comepition in bright sunlight was not surprisingly much better attended than last year in the rain. The jury had a tough time do decide and that is why the vintage price (original or repro) was split up.

Die glücklichen Gewinnerinnen waren Gabriele Roth aus Dinslaken (im Bild links), mit dem Kleid nach Wahl von Dolly and Dotty und Elisabeth Bröcking aus Erkrath (rechts im Bild) mit dem Fascinator von Miss Kittenheel. Beide perfekt gestylt – kein Vintage-Look, sondern authentisch in Originalen.

Das Kleid von Dolly and Dotty ist auch schon ausgesucht und ist noch unterwegs zu seiner neuen Besitzerin, die hoffentlich damit viel Freude haben wird.
The dress from Dolly and Dotty is already on its way and should arrive shortly. We hope that our winner will have much joy wearing it.

Der zweite Teil des Vintage-Preises war dieser sommerliche Fascintaor mit Äpfeln, Beeren und einer kleinen Ripsschleife.
The second part of the vintage price was this summery fascinator with apples, berries and a small bow.

Und noch mehr Hüte – diese zauberhafte und humorvolle Variante ist von Una Geiger. Ein Rennen im Rennen auf einem Hut aus den 1940ger Jahren. Für mich einer der ausgefallensten Hüte des Tages.
And even more hats- this charming and humorous creation was made by Una Geiger. A race within the races on a 1940s base. Definitely one of the most striking and original hats of the day.

Von vorne schlicht offenbart sich die ganze Pracht dieses Hutes im Stil der 1950ger erst von hinten. Prächtig geschmückt mit Rosen und Beeren ist diese Kreation aus Meisterhand von Ricarda von Mein wunderbarer Hutsalon. Ricarda bietet auch Seminare und Workshops zum Thema Hut an. Mich interessiert besonders „Shape up your Hat“, Ich habe vor einiger Zeit eine besonders bedauernswerte Hutkreation erstanden, die aufgearbeitet werden muss.
Quite clean from the front this hat is a real showstopper from the back. Ricarda from „my wonderful hat shop“ made this 1950s creation adorned with berries and roses. She is a certified master milliner and offers hat workshops. I find the „shape up your hat“ most interesting since I recently bought a rather sad 1950s half hat that needs a serious makeover.

Mein Outfit des Tages – Pünktchen gehen immer. Bei Dolly and Dotty gibt es ein ganz ähnliches Kleid, Lola in Retro-Grün und in einem dunkleren Forstgrün – beide leider fast ausverkauft. Lola gibt es insgesamt in 19 Farben.
My outfit of the day – if in doubt wear dots. Dolly and Dotty has a very similar style – Lola in retro green and in forest green – both almost sold out. All in all you can get this style in 19 colours.

Dazu trage ich einen meiner vielen Boleros, diesmal in Puder. Zum rustikalen Look tragen die bewährten, robusten Absatzschuhe und die Kuh-Clutch bei. Blockabsätze sind halt für alle Arten von Untergründen gut – auch bei Kies und Rasen. Der Fascinator und das Seidentuch mit dem Jagdmotiv sind Originale aus den 1950gern.
Once again I wear one of my many shrugs – this time in blush. The surdy heels are the sensible choice when you also have to walk across the lawn or on gravel. The cow clutch adds to that rustic look. Fascinator and hunting themed silk scarf are both 1950s originals.

Es war ein wunderschöner Tag – wir kommen wieder. Vielleicht ergänzen wir nächstes Jahr die Vintage Corner nicht nur um ein paar Stände – sondern auch noch um ein Picknick. Es gibt da noch einen charmanten Pavillon, der genutzt werden will.
It was a grand day out and we will return. Next year a few more stalls would be good and possibly a Picknick. There is this really charming old band stand on the grounds that just would like to be used again.

Oh, là, là – le rétro est le theme du mois pour le French Curves. J’adore le (new) look des années cinquante – les pin-ups, les jupons, l’elegance.

Les bons choses de l’era des 1950s sont pour moi: la mode, l’architecture. Les femmes portent encore des chapeaus, des gants – ça me plaît beaucoup. Je n’aime pas la morale. La bigoterie. Le racisme. La misogynie.
The good things about the era of the 1950s is for me the fashion and the architecture. Ladies still wore hats for everything and gloves – I like that. What I don’t like are the morals of that time. The double standards. The racism. The misogyny.

La vie a peu à peu retournée à la normalite apres la guerre. On a rêvé des places loin et exotiques. L’italie était une place comme ça, especiallement Capri et Venise. La ville des gondoles – Venise et le motif de l’impriment de ma robe. J’ai aussi deux robes avec un plage au sud: une robe en style des 50s en bleu et une plus courte et 60s.
Life had returned bit by bit to normality after the war. People dreamed of faraway and exotic places. Italy was one of these dream destinations, especially Capri and Venice. The city of the canals and gondolas – Venice is the motif printed on my dress. I have also two summer dresses with southern seasides: a 50s one and a shorter and straight one in a 60s style.

La mienne est seule dans ces jours. les autres sont perdus.J’ai trouve le bracelet aux marches aux puces. L’adorable petit chapeau est fait pour moi par Tate Millinery L’original est noir.
My grandmother bought three murano glass necklaces on her trip to Venice in the early 80s. Presents for my cousins and me. Mine is the only one left. The others got lost over time. I found the enamel bracelet at a local flea market. The adorable litte hat was made for me by Tate Millinery. The orignial is black.

DIY Your Closet: Apples and Berries Fascinator

Another turn for DIY Your Closet by Katha and Lisa. It is another mini-hat or fascinator this month. A little straw base with apples, berries and a bow.
Ein weiterer Beitrag für DIY Your Closet – Mehr Selbermachen 2016 von Katha und Lisa. Und es ist mal wieder ein Hütchen oder Fascinator. Diesmal auf einer Grundlage aus geflochtenem Stroh mit Äpfeln, Beeren und einer Schleife.

This was the final trial after finishing it on the train. The fascinator is now gone. It was a part of the special Vintage Price for the hat competition of the Ladies Day of the Krefeld racing club.
Das Probeanziehen nach Fertigstellung – denn jetzt ist er wag. Das Hütchen war Teil des Vintage-Sonderpreises beim Hutwettbewerb des Ladies Day des Krefleder Rennclubs. Mehr dazu aber in ein paar Tagen.

Fortunately I still have enough to assemble another one for me. It was a bit harder than usually to give this one away.
Genug Material für ein Exemplar für mich habe ich auch noch. Denn es fiel mir schwerer als sonst ihn wegzugeben.

Fancy Friday: Preparing for Ladies Day

Ich freue mich schon so – morgen, am Samstag, den 11.Juni 2016, findet auf der Krefelder Rennbahn eine kleine, feine Vintage Corner im Rahmen des Ladies Day statt. Der Ladies Day ist inspiriert von den englischen Pferderennen und somit eine großartige Gelegenheit, ein schickes Outfit in Kombination mit einem Hut oder Hütchen auszuführen UND es gibt einen Hutwettbewerb mit einem Sonderpreis für den schönsten Vintage-Hut – es gibt ein Kleid nach Wahl des englischen Retrolabels Dolly and Dotty, einen Fascinator von Miss Kittenheel und eine Flasche Sekt.
I am so excited – tomorrow, on Saturday, June 11th, 2016 is finally my little Vintage Corner on Ladies Day at the racecourse in Krefeld. Like the well known Ladies Days in the UK it is a great opportunity to dress up a little and wear a hat or fascinator. There is a special price for the best Vintage Hat – a dress of your choice by Dolly and Dotty, a fascintaor from Miss Kittenheel and a bottle of bubbly.

Der Hutwettbewerb findet am Absattelring direkt nach dem 3. Rennen um ca. 16:25 Uhr statt. Die Bekanntgabe der Gewinnerinnen und Prämierung erfolgt nach dem 4. Rennen um kurz nach 17:00 Uhr.
The hat comepetition is at the saddle rink directly after the 3rd race around 1625h. The lucky winners will be announced after the 4th race, shortly after five.

Ü30-Blogparade Black & White

This is the ü30 blogparade „black and white“ entry with the retro touch. Black and white always, always reminds me of the silver screen. Vintage Vamps and pin ups. Humphrey bogart, Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire, a lanky Jimmy Steward. It’s dancers, detectives and dames. Mystery and suspense. Double entendres and frivolous fun. And I try to make it all work in a single outfit. I fail epically at the detective bit though.
Das ist der Beitrag der ü30 Challenge mit dem Retro-Touch. Schwarz-weiß erinnert mich immer an alte Filme. An Stars und Sternchen. An Humphrey Bogart, Ginger Rogers und Fred Astaire, den schlaksigen Jimmy Stewart. Das sind Revuegirls, Detektive und Damen mit wesentlich mehr Problemen, als es zunächst scheint. Filme voller Doppeldeutigkeiten und harmlosem Spaß, aber auch Spannung und Verschwörungen.

The suit is from the English retro and rockabilly label Dolly and Dotty who asked me if I’d like to show another outfit on my blog. In January I made a post with a red tartan dress and some traditional German clothing – the sound of music goes highland fling.
Das Kostüm ist von Dolly and Dotty. Das englische Rockabilly- und Retrolabel hatte mich gefragt, ob ich noch ein weiteres Outfit von Ihnen auf meinem Blog zeigen will. Im Januar habe ich bereits mit ihnen für ein Trachtenoutfit mit Vintagetouch kooperiert – Schottenkaro trifft auf Wolljanker.

The Alice jacket has 3/4 length sleeves. The dogtooth buttons are a super cute detail. It is longer in the front than the back, the tiniest bit too short for my seriously generous chest. It fits still perfectly. Yes, it’ll get lots of mileage with my wiggle dresses an pencil skirts.
Das Alice-Jäckchen hat 3/4 Ärmel. Die Knöpfe sind in Hahnentritt gehalten – ein schönes Detail. Insgesamt ist die Jacke vorne einen Hauch zu kurz für meine sehr grosse Oberweite. Es passt aber immer noch fast perfekt und wir befinden uns am Anfang einer langen Freundschaft. Besonders gut lässt sich die Jacke mit Etuikleidern und Bleistiftröcken kombinieren.

Talking about pencil skirts. Falda is one of the few items (as well the jacket) that didn’t really need to be altered. The length was perfect and for once it feels really high waisted. I had it nipped in at the hem for about an inch on each side. To make it extra wiggly.
Apropos Bleistiftröcke – Falda, der Rock, ist wie die Jacke eines der wenigen Dinge die prinzipiell nicht in die Änderung gemusst hätten. Die Rock- oder Saumlänge ist für mich optimal. Die hohe Taille ist gut ausgearbeitet. Trotzdem habe ich unten an den Seiten noch knapp 2-3cm wegnehmen lassen. Um die Silhouette noch zu verstärken.

Both jacket and skirt are well made. I like the material of both. The skirt seems a bit deerer materialwise. Even the lining has a very nice feel to it.
Jacke und Rock sind beide gut gemacht. Die Stoffe von beiden Teilen gefallen mir. Der Rock sieht etwas hochpreisiger aus. Auch das Futter fühlt sich gut an, das kommt auch nicht immer vor.

I admired that hat (or fascinator) for a very long time from afar on Sadie Walker in her stunning and colourful 1950s style. It is a bit larger than my usual fascinators. If you wonder if you should get it, do it. It’s worth to get on that waiting list. It packs very flat. An excellent choice for travelling and it adds instant glamour.
Den Hut habe ich ganz, ganz lange aus der Ferne an Sadie Walker mit ihrem flamboyanten 1950er Jahre-Stil bewundert. Jetzt wohnt er auch bei mir. Solltet ihr Euch fragen ob der bei Euch einziehen darf – kauft ihn. Er lässt sich super flach in die einpacken. Perfekt für unterwegs auf Reisen für ein wenig Instant-Glamour.

Modejahr 2016: Draussen mit Freunden – cycling around

„Draussen mit Freunden im Garten oder Stadtpark“ ist diesen Monat das Thema bei Ines Meyroses Modejahr2016. Auf Ines Seite gibt es die Blogparade für den Wonnemonat und auch im Mai bin ich das Schlusslicht. Eigentlich wollte ich ja ein Picknick machen. Aber das Leben hat seine eigenen Vorstellungen und ich bin immer noch Stadtradelstar. Heute ist Tag 9 von 21 der Aktion mehr Menschen aufs Fahrrad zu bringen. Warum ich das eigentlich mache steht in diesem kurzen Interview: „Der schnellste Fliegenpilz, oder: Dicke Kommunalpolitikerin will Vorbild sein beim Fahrradfahren“.
This month’s theme for Modejahr2016 (fashion year) from Ines Meyrose is Outdoors with Friends. On Ines Meyrose’s page is the full (German) blog parade. Initially I wanted to post a picnic. Life however interfered – I am still a local representative for a communal bike challenge. Today is day 9 of 21.

Donnerstag war in NRW ein Feiertag (Fronleichnam) und ich bin mit einigen anderen Kommunalpolitikern ca. 30km rund um Bochum geradelt. Ein etwas verbeultes Herz auf der Karte. Das Wetter war ziemlich perfekt dafür. Warm und sonnig.
On thursday I cycled 30k in a dodgy heart shape around Bochum with mostly fellow local politicans. It was a bank holiday and the weather perfect for it. It was a warm and sunny day.

Den Teil der dicken, blauen Linie habe ich ausgelassen und bin die gelbe Strasse zum Fähnchen zurückgeradelt.
I skipped the fat blue line and went back home/ to the flag on the yellow (not brick) road.

Ich habe ziemlich gemischte Gefühle zum Thema Funktionskleidung auf dem Fahrrad. Klar hält das schön trocken, ist bequem – aber ernsthaft? Für die meisten von uns ist das mit Kanonen auf Spatzen zu schiessen. Bochums Stadtfarben sind Blau-Weiss und so habe ich das gepunktete Kleid angezogen, das ich sonst fast nur zum Fussball anziehe.
I have very mixed feelings on what to wear on a bike. Sure functional clothing is cool. It stays dry, blablabla… but hey – for most tours it’s like shooting ducks in a bathtub (because even a pond is too big). City colours are blue and white and I put the dotted dress on I usually wear to football games.

Einmal musste ich wirklich absteigen und schieben – verdammt! Aber die Gravitation kennt da nix! Soviel Spass es auch macht mit extra Schwungmasse bergab zu fahren, bergauf ist harte Arbeit. Ich schwitze dabei immer wie Tier. Ist wenigstens gut für die Haut und reinigt die Poren. Auch wenn ich dabei aussehe wie aus dem Wasser gezogen. Aber das ist es wert. Jedes Mal. Denn bergab ist ein bisschen wie fliegen. Schwerelos. Einfach nur schnell.
I had to push my bike up on one of the steeper uphill bits. Gravitiy pulls mercilessly. As much fun as it is as a fat girl to go downhill, a long and steep inline is hard. I become a sweaty mess. It’s worth it though each and every time. Because downhill feels like flying. Weightless. A creature of speed.

Es war eine Hop-on-Hop-off-Tour, jeder der mochte konnte uns ein Stück begleiten. Und so sind nur zwei von uns bis zum inoffiziellen Ende mitgeradelt. Einer (und ich war das nicht) nur bis zum offiziellen Ende – aber der wohnte da ganz in der Nähe. Ich gestehe ich wollte nicht nach Wattenscheid zum Bahnhof zurück. Nur um da mein Rad die Treppe hoch und in Bochum am Hauptbahnhof (wegen des defekten Aufzuges) wieder runter zu tragen, dabei noch auf einen Zug zu warten. Bei gleicher Entfernung kam ich auch komplett mit dem Rad nach Hause. Weitestgehend bergab.
It was a hop on hop of tour and only two of us made it from the beginning to the inofficial end. Only one (and that wasn’t me) to the offical end – but that was because he lived close by.

Bochum belegt regelmässig bei Fahrradstudien einen der letzten Plätze bei den deutschen Grossstädten. Fahrradfahren auf der Strasse ist bei uns nur bedingt ein Vergnügen. Was wir allerdings verdammt gut können, sind Freizeitradwege wie die Erzbahntrasse oder den Springorumradweg. Knapp die Hälfte der Strecke hatte ich danach ausgerichtet.
Bochum might be a bitch when it comes to cycling on the roads (at least compared to other German cities) – but we do recreational pathes bloody well. And these we used half the time.

Den letzten Halt der Tour und dann auch der Punkt an dem wir uns auflösten, war das Haus Weitmar mit der Situation Kunst. Eine alte Motte, also ein Herrenhaus mit Burggraben, mit einem modernen Architektonischem Kubus drin. Mehr Bilder davon hier in meinem Flickr-Album. Nebenan das Museum unter Tage – das wie der Name andeutet bis auf zwei Pavillons unterirdisch stattfindet. All das in einem romantischem Landschaftspark aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, der in den letzen Jahren zeitgemäss erneuert wurde. Übrigens ein hervorragender Platz für ein Picknick mit Freunden!
The final stop we made was at a historic moated manor ruin with an artsy modern cube inside. More pics from a visit with the parents are on my flickr-account. There is a cool underground museum next to it. All set in a 19th century romantic landscape park recently revamped. A grand place for a picnic with friends!
