Ü30 Blogger + Friends: Filmreif – Ready for the Oscars

Time to join the ladies from the ü30 blogger network for this month’s theme „Filmreif – Glamorous“. I wanted to do a a spin on the blush Ava dress for a long time – some of you might remember the green one and my tribute to Dita von Teese.

The Harlequin rhinestone parure and the pastel navette brooch are true vintage from the 1950s and 1960s and quite spectacular.

Until a few years ago I used to host Oscar night parties. With the time difference, they were always the next evening, on mondays. All spruced up. And we watched a recording. And I got to admit, one of the things I like best is the part when all the stars walk the red carpet. Some of those dresses are amazing, some are iconic and some are, ehhh interesting choices. Anyway – these parties were always good fun and I actually miss them. Maybe next year there will be another one.

Just before the pandemic kicked off Susanne from Texterella invited me to the launch of a blogger collection she contributeted to. Unfortunately it got cancelled – but this was to be my outfit.

At the end of this post is a Link-Up – I am already curious what the others will post about Ready for the Oscars  – they are in German though.

NYE – Black, Gold and Silver (and Cocktails)

New Year’s eve in year two of the Pandemic. This year’s inspiration comes fom the classic Grimm fairy tale version for Cinderella: „Shake and quiver little tree, throw down gold and silver down to me.“ Another Cheongsam version I use as an at home dress.

A classic 1950s or 60s statement brooch.
Eine klassische 1950- oder 60ger Jahre Kostümbrosche.

Underneath the golden 60s inspired brocade coat is a plain, well tailored dress. I had this for ages and it didn’t fit for years. But that is the beauty of the pin-up or retro style. Those clothes don’t really look dated.

Souvenirs from Spaindamacened jewellry or damascene steel jewelry was quite a thing to bring home to from Spain, but also from Japan.

My Heart will go on – and here is my fun Beth Ditto cardigan again – the cool singer created it for a capsule collection for Evans in 2009.

A ginger cat and a bar truck – that is so me. I got this fun little novelty bag in the sales. You might remember the sushi restaurant and the bicycle shop bags.

Served in a glass.

Ein Moscow Mule – ohhne Kupferbecher. Angerichtet in einem Glas.

Happy New Year! I still hope it’ll be better than 2021, but it’ll probably be quite ehhh interesting if not outright turbulent.

Partygirl & Studio54 (exhibition)

November used to be one hell of a month to go out – before all the Christmas do’s in December. I bought that (cheap looking) fake fur jacket in the UK. It was on sale for 20 pounds. A warm, easily recognizable jacket that didn’t mind being chucked behind benches. And it saw quite a few parties, swish bars and dodgy pubs in Manchester. What could have been more appropriate to wear to the now closed Studio54 exhibition in Dortmund? Ok, maybe something with sequins.

The Studio54 exhibition (read the Guardian article about the opening in Brooklyn) in Dortmund was a visusal and audible feast. So start the music, relax and enjoy the show!

Dance, baby, dance!

And then there was a white horse! The perfect instagrammable picture point to recreate Bianca Jagger’s iconic birthday party at Studio54 hosted by none other than Andy Warhol and all I could do was take a selfie.

Very 80s – the dangling leopard brooch – a nod to Cartier’s Panthère collection.

– in Anlehnung an Cartiers Panthère Kollektion.

I miss going out!

NYE: Home Stories Suzie Wong Style

Another year over. Miss Kittenheel as a blog is in it’s 7th year. So for the 7th year’s itch and since there is a pandemic out there you get another home story at the end of the year. The ensemble is one of quite a few things I bought for home wear this year from Shein. Comfy – and yet not dowdy – actually all are rather glamorous.

The set is insired by a cheongsam or qipao. It was orgninally cut more loose. In the 1920s it became more fitted and glamorous. This one isn’t made of silk or brocade it is in a stretchy polyester. Which makes it great to chill out in at home.

The yellow pearl luxulite brooch – like its red sister – is an old favourite. Especially on a vivid pattern.

The Chinese tourist bracelet is a 1950s or 60s original.

After lots and lots of meat in the last days the red beet in a salt crust with lemon butter were a delightful change. You’ll need a little longer than stated in the link here – I had to doulbe my cooking time. I also mixed an egg and some olive oil into the salt to make it stick better to the beets.

I won’t hold with Joan Crawford that everything is better with vodka – but I had a Gin Tonic while waiting and made the pics for the blog.

Happy new year and I hope 2021 is much kinder on most of us!

ü30 Blogger & Friends: My Must Have – Business to Christmas LBD + giveaway

Time to join the ladies from the ü30 blogger network for this month’s theme „My Must Have“ – fashion wise there are quite a few classical must haves:a white blouse, a trench coat, a denim jacket, among other things – and drum roll – the LBD. The what? The Little Black Dress. Business, dates, funerals, cocktails – pick the right one and it can take you anywhere – even right into Christmas!

My Must Have“ – mein Herzenswunsch.

Miss Moneypenny? This body con dress is from Marks & Spencers – and you might remember it from my Halloween post. Here it is shown for this term’s inauguratuional council session in Bochum. Modest but still hugging and accentuating the curves. The orange tights and heels prevent to make it look demure.

Miss Moneypenny?

This year there isn’t party time at Christmas (over here) – still you can dress up at home. For a zoom party, a video conference and the few people you can (and should only) still meet. Feels way more special than sweat pants. Go treat yourself!

Gönnt Euch was!

Happy Pink Christmas Flamingos are not for the faint of heart but bags of fun!

Classic in red and green. A grown up and professional look for Santa’s Little Helper.

Klassisch in Rot und Grün. EIn erwachsenes Outfit für den inneren Weihnachts-Wichtel.

Cute as a button and still office smart – the Christmas trees are discreet and still can be worn as winter pines.

A little kitsch doesn’t hurt – the sparkly earrings are fun and the 50s bell brooch is very traditional.

It’s the season for giving – so if you want your own pair of those lovely kitschy earrings write Elf Yourself in the comments until St. Nikolaus, the 6th of December 2020 (23:59h CET). I’ll do an old school price draw for that fun spare pair.

HoHoHo – at the end of this post is a Link-Up – I am already curious what the others will post to My Must Have – they are in German though.

HoHoHo – am Ende des Posts ist das Link-Up zu den anderen Bloggerinnen – viel Spass, ich bin schon gespannt was die anderen zum Thema My Must Have posten!

Special Tights – Steampunk Day 2020

After two years of an involuntary break due to being sick at the wrong time I finally made it back to the opening of the historc fair in Bochum. The setting is the Jahrhunderthalle – a factory building from 1902. The opening of the fair is celebrated with a Steampunk day.

I was pretty selfish this time – so no pics from the fantastic outfits of many of the other visitors. But feel free to look at my pictures from 2016 – with a dark cherry look and moi even on a caroussell horse and my blog-post from 2017 with a look featuring my oldest hat from 1990.

The fascinator has been on this blog a few times, but it usually looks like this. For the event I pimped it with two feathers and another brooch. The galaxy tights arrived unexpectedly early and I was chuffed that I could wear them to the fair and not the fascinator I planned to wear.

New Year is lurking around the corner and it is time for another party outfit. Or rather two. I bought the dress in February 2018 and it has waited for a while to be altered. I’ll be used soon in a mermaid costume. So watch this space.

A sequin dress is hard to dress down but I like the combo with the lumberjack shirt. The rocket has been on this blog a few times. I love it for New Year’s Eve and trips to the planetarium.

The second look is more formal. Something I’d wear to the cabaret or a nice party. As things are NYE will be at my place again. As it’ll probably me and my best friend we’ll skip the usual raclette and make something hot and spicy.

Business to Christmas: These are Special Tights

Going out for Christmas isn’t always kitschy themed dresses. Although I probably get off with these probalby a bit better than a lot of people. Still turning a regular dress into a Christmas outfit is fun too and more versatile. You can try as hard as you want to but something with reindeer on never really manages to pull off in summer.

The base is the City Goddess dress I bought a month ago in the sale. Emerald green and a neckline that goes from office to party without looking amiss in either place.

Look one is something I wore with plain black tights to the last council meeting of the year. But it is also a good look for a more formal setting with work or even family – depending on either wehere you go or how you celebrate.

The second look is a happy party outfit – once more under the motto Elf Yourself – like a few days ago. I do like the pudding tights. They are utterly silly and go well with the cute kitten ears and the trinket necklace. I had my own Christmas party last weekend and my guests had a ball with my collection of festive hairbands. Sorry – no pics on this blog from that one. I don’t kiss and tell.

The weekend we shot the pics for this post my cousind (and favourite harpist) and I later switched roles. Here she is in front of the camera and playing the celtic harp. The video is lovely. When we filmed it was raining cats and dogs most of the time. The backdrop is my local Christmas market and the merry go round even has its own Instagram acount.

Silvester – Skyline Dress meets with Jilsen Boots + NYE Glam

[Werbung]
The year is almost over – it is time for New Year’s Eve outfit No.2: once glammed up with a rose gold top an a day version with a lumberjack blouse and widecalf boots sponsored by Jilsen.

I love boots – especially in winter. These have a classic look and very sturdy heels that won’t get stuck in the paving. They can easily do boho as well as elegant. It is my second pair of Jilson’s boots. My other pair are classic black riding boots.

Did you see it? There is a golden „Happy New Year“ tiara that gets completetly in my hair.

NYE – Galaxy Quest zu Silvester

What are you doing New Year’s Eve? This is a good look for a nice party, the theatre or if you just feel like sprucing up. I’ll be gathered around a raclette with a good friend, two of my godchildren and family.

I wore this look to this year’s Christmas do with the conservatives in the council. We got a tour of the Zeiss Planetarium Bochum by the dedicated Prof. Susanne Hüttemeister. The local planetarium is one of my favourite attractions in the region.

Elements of this look are part of my trusted planetarium style – like here for the German Curves „Fly me to the Moon“ or to the festive 50th anniversary celebration or here to the opening of their Jules Verne Show
