Who doesn’t love a good coat? You might remember this gorgous coat in mustard yellow from two years ago. It got too large – not really a problem in winter with a nice fleece jacket underneath for warmth but less than ideal now. English only today.
Very Cinderella – this is from Miss Candyfloss new Grace Kelly collection. The Lorin in Regia, a princessy pale blue with a sumpteous pink satin lining.
Roses and Leopard – the pretty umbrella is not only true vintage but it used to my (maternal) Grandmother’s.
London calling – the cute but rather small bag is another cool one from vendula – like my cute bike shop and the much admired sushi restaurant bag. The details are always amazing.
From Dawn into the Night – some pictures from my rambles. The sloes are currently in bloom and the willow buds are ever so pretty.
Far from the Pyrenees – a young woman at the train station said I remind her of the girls from Beauxbaton – and I had to look that up – They make quite an entry in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
So, do you like my new coat?

After a glum but mild winter, spring is finally here. And I promised you the sweater from the Rodeo collection – yeah, the one were I first got the blouse and then the dress.
The irony is cruel – the fun cowgirl with the UFO in the back is classic 1950s atomic design references and for me also forever linked with the cold war. But now as Russia invaded the Ukraine, a pan-European conflict with Russia suddenly is very real and not just an abstract threat. My generation, born in the 70s, experienced the end of the cold war in our teenage years. We saw perestroika and glasnost, but never NATO in full alert.
Amidst all those terrifying news it helps to get out. And since the weather is lovely right now, I took #derFahrrad for a spin and asked a friend who lives locally to tag along.
The main destination (at least for me) was the Bismarckturm Delecke. 22 of these towers in memory of the „iron“ Reichs-chancellor are still dotted over Northrhine-Westfalia. And my Corona „travel“ project since November 2020 – and no I am not a fan of the old man nor do I approve of blatant nationalism – that is why these towers were built. This is number 13 and the last that was built. Nine of these mostly phallic monuments are stil left to visit. The tower in the back of the post with the blouse last year is the one in Tecklenburg.
You can already get a glimpse of the Möhnesee from the tower. To my readers from the UK (and the US – or any military buffs) – that is the dambusters lake. The bombing made a gap in the middle and as a result war related industries had only temporary setbacks but also about 1700 lives were lost in the floods. 1000 of which were prisoners of war and slave labourers.
The distorted idyll – not a result of flooding than a mix of droughts and the bark beetle. So many hills and valleys look similar. It is a heartbreaking sight. Climate change is real.

This winter feels like a neverending November. This is the last hurray for these awesome tweed pants. Classic Marlene style. I got them 6 years ago, they never fit better but chafing killed them now.
The PU corsage needs to be dressed down a bit – and it requires really high waisted bottoms.
Finally a use for clip on earrings. I struggle to wear them the regular way. These are from the dark snowqueen post.
Soooo british – an old school tweed tie and the fun „royal Beefeater“ socks.

Time to join the ladies from the ü30 blogger network for this month’s theme „Caps, Scarf + Gloves“. I wanded to do a pastel winter warm post since I bought the argyle cardie and I have all these white winter accessories that usually just get out for Christmas.
Get the horse drawn sleigh out – this snow queen is ready for a trip through winterwonderland. Unfortunately my courtyrad had to do on an exceptionally mild day. Both, hood and muff have been on the blog before in another winter princess look.
Frozen Love – this wonderful ice blue brooch combines aurora borealis rhinestones with frosted stones. A true vintage piece.
Enchanted Winter Woods – I love those „Magic Forest“ tights. They give this outfit truly glacial vibes.
Let it Snow – a snow queen needs snowflakes, right? These are cheap and cheerful, found on Amazon.
Schneezauber – eine Eiskönigin braucht Schneeflocken, oder? Diese hier habe ich bei Amazon aufgestöbert.
On my way to work – we still need a bit of proper winter here. For now I just dress the part.
Cuddle Up – these fake fur mittens are super warm – and considering they are from 2003 hardly aver worn, contrary to the scarf.
Australian Christmas – when it hit the sales I caved in and bought the Kookaburra (bird) snow globe brooch – it is a cute winter brooch and can still be worn in February.
At the end of this post is a Link-Up – I am already curious what the others will post to Mütze, Schal, Handschuh –Caps, Scarf + Gloves – they are in German though.

This would have been a great dress for new year’s receptions – but we are approaching pandemic year three and once more events are (understandably) cancelled.
Not really an old hat – I recently aqquired this vintage beauty locally via vinted. Excellent match with the dress and it compliments my eye colour.
This bag will soon be first-hand vintage – I bought it in 2004. Only 2 more years until it is 20!
The dark snow queen’s crown jewels – this smoky juliana set has an amazing contrast of frosted and glittering grey rhinestones – like tainted snowflakes.

English only today. Currently I got this thing for tweed ties and (sweater) vests. House of Foxy has lovely ones. Fair isle patterns. 40s vibes. Great colour and good quality wool. This isn’t one of them. I struggle with real wool. Even with a shirt in between. Meh! But the pattern is nice, it feels soft and I don’t try to scratch my skin off. The mock tweed skirt was last year on the blog and recently taken in a bit by my tailor.
The tweed tie is one of 4. They have these old school English teacher vibes. Although none of my teachers ever wore one like this, especially since most of them were female and it was the 1980s to very early 1990s.

Winter is here and Christmas gone – this stunning winterwonderland dress is one of my most striking and recognizable ones. Yes, the pattern is kitschy – but sooo much fun. It has a most princessy feel to it.
A Winter’s Tale. This selfie is almost a year old. I wore it to the virtual vintage parties that helped me cope so much with the social distancing in 2020/2021. The lipstick has a pink touch – it is an original 1950s shade from Revlon: Cherries in the Snow. Great texture, too.
CurvyChristmas with a modern twist. The mustard accessories pick up the lights in the dress.
CountryChristmas – this novelty print so reminds me of old fashioned greeting cards.
Weihnachtliche Landlust – dieses Muster erinnert mich so sehr an altmodische Grusskarten.
Cuckoo! This fun 1050s souvenir brooch is from the black forest – to be more precise from Sankt Peter. Even if the writing has faded quite a bit since I got it.
Kuckuck!
Cinderella – on the left you see the classic 1973 czech production of Tři oříšky pro Popelku (Three Gifts for Cinderella). A charming adaptaion with a feisty girl that varies from the Disney version. On the right is the 2021 norwegian remake Tre nøtter til Askepott. It has a few updates – it is really enjoyable even if it lacks the iconic soundtrack. Without spoilering, I enjoyed the gift of the last nut tremendously.
Ende gut – alles gut?
Street-Style – a few days before Christmas.
Street-Style – ein paar Tage vor Weihnachten.
Nothing bleak about this Midwinter.Well, despite the weather. The last two months have been rather glum. I wonder if we’ll get a bit of snow within the next two. Watch this space for my ideas of winter warm in January.

New Year’s eve in year two of the Pandemic. This year’s inspiration comes fom the classic Grimm fairy tale version for Cinderella: „Shake and quiver little tree, throw down gold and silver down to me.“ Another Cheongsam version I use as an at home dress.
A classic 1950s or 60s statement brooch. Eine klassische 1950- oder 60ger Jahre Kostümbrosche.
Underneath the golden 60s inspired brocade coat is a plain, well tailored dress. I had this for ages and it didn’t fit for years. But that is the beauty of the pin-up or retro style. Those clothes don’t really look dated.
A ginger cat and a bar truck – that is so me. I got this fun little novelty bag in the sales. You might remember the sushi restaurant and the bicycle shop bags.
A Moscow Mule – sans copper mug. Served in a glass.
Ein Moscow Mule – ohhne Kupferbecher. Angerichtet in einem Glas.
Happy New Year! I still hope it’ll be better than 2021, but it’ll probably be quite ehhh interesting if not outright turbulent.

Sometimes you just want a bit of Christmas and not full scale santa’s little helper. So quick and dirty – two looks with dresses that work well around the year. The Adeline tartan dress in red whichI bought in Autumn and the green Veronica dress has seen a few rounds on this blog – in spring and also for Christmas.
Festive brooches rock – the holly is true vintage the cat brooches are fun but cheap no name trinkets.
Last council session of the year. I always like it a little festive. The white fake fur cuffs have been on the blog and with the red dress in a council session before.
Happy Christmas Kittens – the shopping bag.
Fröhlichen Weihnachts-Kätzchen – als Einkaufstasche.

Today is about christmas party looks – like last year my party will be online only. What a bugger. But even with all vaccinated, some of us even a third time, a proper indoor party isn’t a good idea – especially with many of us in local politics.
This is this year’s Nikolaus-Party look – a dress I think I bought in 2010, definitely on eBay. The jewellry is mix and match with the wonderful atomic stars from Luxulite and a true vintage aurora borealis rhinestone nacklace. The cute little fascinator returns each year to the blog since 2015.
Not sure what to call this look – dirndl meets comics? It would be fun for the right kind of party.
Another fun pair of fun tights from this years Snag Tights Christmas collection. Great with white sneakers. And the matching kitschy accessories.
A few years back and still pre-corona the time before Christmas was a mad rush with parties, events and Chirstmas dos. Now for the second year in a row I deliver my Christmas cards within my electoral district. Bring on the cheer!
